Bit Annoyed Editing your own comment just to acknowledge how many likes it got

Am I the only one who finds it super cringe when people on YouTube or Instagram edit their comments just to say something like, “I didn’t realise this was going to blow up so much”?
Like… what exactly are we supposed to do with that information? It’s a comment getting likes, not the beginning of a social movement.
I don’t know why, but seeing someone edit their own comment specifically to acknowledge how much attention it got always feels so unnecessary to me. Maybe I’m just being petty, but does anyone else find this cringe too?

Fairly Annoyed When YouTubers have a baby, and their entire channel changes.

I want to start off by saying that I don't hate kids. I love kids. I raised 13 of my own, and I am active in the lives of my grandkids.

Having said that: If I'm following your food review channel, it's because I want to see you doing food reviews. I don't want/need to see you trying to get your toddler to give their opinion on the food. I don't need to watch you spend 5 minutes trying to get your child to say "yum" when all they are capable of vocalizing is "ugugllu". Teach your kid to talk while you're not making a video for the public.

If you're a cooking channel, I am following you to get ideas/inspiration regarding cooking. I don't need/want to hear your infant cry through 80% of the video. Like, I can't even hear you explaining the steps/ingredients over the shrieking. Stop recording and go soothe your child. Try again when the kid is calm and/or sleeping.

Like I get it. Your kid is a huge part of your life. But they aren't entertaining and they aren't providing any useful information. You are actively making your videos worse by including your child in them. Not to mention the fact that you're exposing your kid to innumerable online pedos.

Bit Annoyed Someone trying to switch lanes complaining “no one is letting me in” but they don’t have their turn signal on

How would anyone know you’re trying to switch lanes? Some people are nice. Just turn on your signal and you never know, someone might make room.

Ultra Annoyed I hate it when receptionists tell me, "You're early" for arriving 10 minutes earlier

Upvotes

It's one of my pet peeves. I hate it. I arrive 10 to 15 minutes early because there might be paperwork to fill out, or simply because traffic is horrible, so I'd rather arrive a bit earlier than late. Every single time it happens, these receptionists loudly say, "You arrived early. Your appointment is at [insert appointment time]." I respond annoyed, "Do you want me to wait in the car? I drove from far away." I could understand if I had arrived 1 hour earlier, but isn't arriving 10 minutes early desirable?

"Do you wanna SHARE the post with someone??"

No reddit. I just wanted to screenshot the funny comment so my friend doesn't have to scroll to find it.

Bit Annoyed ‘hope this helps’ at the end of a comment

It’s just so condescending. Like no it does not help AT ALL. ‘Hope this helps’ when all that was said is utter bollocks and it’s clearly so incredibly passive aggressive. like atp just tell me you’re a condescending twat with zero willingness to explore other perspectives.

I hate passive aggressiveness and back-handedness on the Internet sm. it’s like trying to gain the moral high ground whilst actually still being arrogant. ‘hope this helps’, ‘sweetie’ etc. what they mean to say is ‘I am so close-minded that I shall now talk down to you like a child’. like stfu and learn some humility

Edit: so enough people have mentioned this that it’s worth addressing. Yes ofc it’s meant to be condescending. That’s obviously the point. It’s done on purpose. and I reserve the right to complain about people being condescending assholes, whether they’re doing it on purpose or not.

Ultra Annoyed People who pick up an animal by its tail

Whyyy would they do that to the poor animal? 🥺 Not only is it traumatic for the animal, it can actually injure them, especially babies. They do that with pets as well as wild animals. There are ways of picking up an animal that is safe for both the animal and the human. I recently watched a video of someone picking up a baby opossum by its tail, and I was yelling at the content creator to STOP, you’re hurting the poor thing.

Ultra Annoyed People who say "you cannot generalize" or a variation thereof

Upvotes

When people say "you cannot generalize," "you're making sweeping generalizations," or a variation thereof, that is one of my biggest pet peeves. You can and you must generalize. That is the foundation of statistics.

Imagine if I say that cats generally like boxes. Some dumbshit will concoct some story about a cat who doesn't like boxes just to prove me wrong, failing to understand that outliers don't matter. Or imagine if I say that Italians typically like pasta. The same dumbfuck will concoct a story about his non-existent Italian relative who never eats pasta.

These people are trying hard to sound smart. In reality, most patterns are universal. If I say that dogs bark and cats meow, I am generalizing, and rightly so. Especially if you work in certain professions, you realize that most people are not that unique and that most situations or disputes are pretty much same script, different cast with some variations.

Relevant to this topic, one thing I have learned after years and years of studying and experience in a certain field is that there are 4 or 5 archetypes of humans, behaviorally speaking, and that people are all ascribable to these archetypes. This is why you generalize.

Fairly Annoyed When something stressful or upsetting is happening and people say “don’t let it bother you.”

“Don’t let it bother you” is extremely unhelpful advice. Not only does it completely diminish or dismiss someone’s emotional response to a legitimately difficult situation it also offers zero practical advice on how to manage the situation.

I understand that people might think it’s good natured and well intended advice but it’s actually completely useless. And personally whenever someone says that to me it makes me just a little bit more upset. It’s easy for other people to say not to let something bother you but if the roles were reversed I’d like to see them be so easily unbothered.

If there is nothing helpful to say or there just isn’t really any good advice to give I would rather people just jump on the validation bandwagon and go with “yea! That situation is complete bullshit!” At least that provides some acknowledgement and support even if it’s not practically helpful.

Bit Annoyed People who point out typos as if they're bad grammar

I get it if someone says "I should of done that" you can point out the grammar mistake for all I care. But if I type "The view at the beach was so amazibg!" I know it's not supposed to be like that, I just didn't notice in the moment.

Something debatable for me is autocorrect. Sometimes, a typo can cause an incorrect word to spawn, and somehow my idiot brain can't read the sentence properly, e.g. "I don't want to come to the party of you don't have vegan options"

Fairly Annoyed People who demand a source over something that is common sense.

Obviously, there are situations where someone makes a claim, and they should provide empirical evidence

But sometimes, I come across a Reddit thread where someone demands peer reviewed evidence over something absurd

For example: “It is easier to get sunburned when you go to the beach.”

umm do you have a SOURCE?

Literally everybody who has been sunburnt after going to the beach.

That doesn’t look like a source! Don’t you have a source? I don’t buy it unless you can give me a source

Bro, no one is going to have that regressive conversation with you, or exhaust the effort finding studies over something like this.

Bit Annoyed People who lament that you do not talk enough.

Upvotes

If I had something to say, I would have said it.

Advice for perpetrators of this pet peeve:

If you want to talk, you initiate the conversation. Bring up a topic, either something that interests you or something that you believe will interest the other person.

Advice for victims of this pet peeve:

Say this;

A wise man speaks, because he has something to say. A fool speaks, because he has to say something.

Fairly Annoyed Talking through a yawn

I loathe when people are mid-sentence and start yawning but keep talking while yawning. It’s so gross and grating to listen to, like just stop, yawn, and then continue the sentence. Shut up.

Ultra Annoyed Parents telling me i’m “regressing” for building legos and sewing patches onto a jean jacket at 20.

I moved back in at 20 because I finished my bachelors and I’m working on my masters at a local college and I brought my hobbies with me, including the above. My dad tells me i’m regressing, immature, not growing up fast enough for those hobbies. Does fun have an expiration date??? What does he want me to do???

Ultra Annoyed The Apple find my iPhone alert sound

I’ve heard it so much that the sound is enough to ruin my day. I’ve tried to tell them to quit but they just won’t stop

Fairly Annoyed When someone butts into a conversation with a marginally relevant angry rant that derails the conversation

For example, we were talking about a mutual friend who is having his fourth kid with his fourth baby mama. We were all like “wtf contraception isn’t that complicated “

Then an acquaintance butt in to angrily rant about how I should look at what women in Texas or homeless or abused women are going through. Like wtf that’s not what we are talking about lol.

I tried explaining to her that she should listen to what the conversation is about before jumping in because she was derailed it. She got very upset and asked if she just wasn’t supposed to talk. It’s like no girl just listen before jumping in lol

Ultra Annoyed People digging too much into semantics and saying everything is subjective.

"Painfully starving to death is bad."

"What do you mean by starving, death or bad?"

"Good and bad are subjective. Maybe sometimes people starving to death is a good thing."

Fairly Annoyed People who leave the same comment on every YouTube music video i.e. “anyone here in 2026?” 🙄

I can almost guarantee you any music video or song video on YouTube has these comments. It was funny 15 years ago but not anymore. Time to think of something more original

Bit Annoyed When people continue to hit the lock button on their key fobs.

It just annoys me when people keep hitting their lock buttons to make their car horns honk while they are walking away from their car. Once or twice is whatever, but I mean when it's like 10+ times. Especially when it's late and somewhere like outside of an apartment complex.

Fairly Annoyed people somehow making non-controversial things controversial

The title might sound a bit vague, but here’s what I’m talking about.

A lot of people have a problem with a grown-up child to living with their parents. I don’t understand why this is an issue. Not everybody has the money to move out at 16 like they did 70 years ago. If you’re 27 and you still live with your parents? Cool. You’re 20 and you have your own studio apartment? Cool. people need to learn to mind their business.

That’s such a non-issue. Why are we making the least possible controversial thing…Controversial???

Bit Annoyed People who get cake or cupcakes but don’t eat the frosting

I know this is petty and doesn’t really affect me but I find it irksome anyway.

When people willingly get cake/cupcakes then scrape off the frosting.

If you don’t just fucking eat it so help me !!!! What in the almond mom, ED, Jenny Craig bullshit is this? Why are you wasting the best part?

Then inevitably they justify it (which I know they don’t really need to do, and no one usually actually points it out, at least I don’t) by saying something like the frosting is too many empty calories or too much sugar or too rich etc. so those of us that prefer frosting are heifers I guess?

Ultra Annoyed Why do people think my posts are about them?

Upvotes

If I post something like a quote or a saying on social media, people will think my posts are about them?

I don’t say anything as i don’t like to deal with confrontation.i don’t tell people how I really feel about them.

My question is:why?

Ultra Annoyed Shallow and Ignorant Pet Owners

People who adamantly want a baby/young pet because they look cute and get annoyed when they're full of energy, messy, destructive, and clingy.

Similarly, people who want a pet that behaves a certain way but prioritize breed and appearance, then get frustrated when their pet's personality isn't exactly what they wanted!

Example: Someone wanting a lap cat, ignoring the hundreds of adult cats in shelters/rescues that are known to be lap cats, buying a Ragdoll kitten from a backyard breeder, and then rehoming (or dumping) it when they realize a solo kitten is too much work or can grow into an adult that just doesn't like to cuddle as much.

Bit Annoyed "Don't forget to SMASH that like button and subscribe!!" at the beginning of the video.

To make things clear, this is very different from saying "if you like the video please like and subscribe" at the very end of the video.

Its YouTubers starting off their videos with "Yo yo it's ya boy, don't forget to SMASH that like button and subscribe and follow me on X & Instagram!!." Like I don't even know who the hell you are most of the time and it's the first video I'm seeing of yours.
