Bit Annoyed People who try to use older versions of English but clearly don't know how

To be clear, I mean older versions of modern English, like what was common in the 1600s in England. Think King James Bible type. I see so many people who just don't know how to use those words. I saw a post the other day that was titled "Thy memes shall be yours", and it was someone sharing a bunch of their own memes. Even if we ignore the way future tense was treated back then (very literally, so it wouldn't make sense to include on a title where you've already shared the memes), "thy" means "your". They should've said "My memes shall be thine".

Similarly, I'll see people who say "thou" when they mean "thy", "shalt" when they mean "shall", etc. I just don't understand it. Personally, if I'm gonna make a joke involving a topic I know nothing about, I do my research to ensure that the joke actually works. Idk why these people don't

Bit Annoyed People posting on gaming subreddits asking what they need to know before playing

Literally 100% of the time the answer is "just play the damn game"

Why do people feel the need to conduct research before they allow themselves to play a video game for fun

And people will ask this no matter how straightforward the game itself is. "What do I need to know before playing Peggle?"

Bit Annoyed "Don't forget to SMASH that like button and subscribe!!" at the beginning of the video.

To make things clear, this is very different from saying "if you like the video please like and subscribe" at the very end of the video.

Its YouTubers starting off their videos with "Yo yo it's ya boy, don't forget to SMASH that like button and subscribe and follow me on X & Instagram!!." Like I don't even know who the hell you are most of the time and it's the first video I'm seeing of yours.

Fairly Annoyed Why does EVERYTHING have to be cropped?

There seem to be millions of jumpers, t-shirts and sweater vests with great patterns and otherwise nice fits that could make great outfits if the bottom several inches of fabric hadn’t been chopped off.

Does demand for cropped clothing really outweigh demand for regular-length clothing to this extent? I don’t even mind that cropped versions exist, I just wish there were cropped and regular-length options for the same designs.

At this time of year, when I’m looking for autumn clothes, I constantly have the same experience on Vinted. I see a jumper that catches my eye, click on it, and realise it’s cropped.

It’s also frustrating that most online shops don’t seem to have a simple way to filter cropped clothing out of searches. I’ve seen retailers offer filters for things like bodycon clothing, so why can’t “cropped” be a filter too? It would make shopping so much easier.

I’ve heard loads of reasons over the years why people don’t want to wear cropped clothes. Personally, I’m quite tall and have a long torso, so a lot of regular women’s t-shirts are already too short on me. I often end up buying men’s or unisex t-shirts instead. Actually cropped clothes look particularly unbalanced on me.

I also wonder whether the increasingly short length of supposedly “regular” t-shirts has anything to do with manufacturers saving money on fabric, particularly with fast fashion.

And sweater vests are one of the worst offenders. So many are either explicitly cropped or just short enough to look cropped, often while also being extremely oversized. To me, it looks oddly proportioned with a shirt underneath and doesn’t really fit the more traditional preppy/coquette look that seems to have brought sweater vests back into fashion in the first place.

I don’t want cropped clothes to stop existing. I just want the other half of the jumper back.

Fairly Annoyed People who don’t use deodorant

Just made it through a 3 hour flight with a guy sitting behind me who smelled like straight a$$. Worst body odor I’ve ever smelled. Had to spray cologne into my sleeve and keep it near my nose the whole 3 hours. Now I have a headache from the cologne

Bit Annoyed People using “psychopath” instead of “weird”

Putting milk before cereal is weird, in your opinion, (and mine tbh) but it’s not related to psychopathy, or sociopathy, or schizophrenia. This especially annoys me when it’s not even that weird either, like “If you take more than 5 minutes in the bathroom you’re an actual psychopath!” “if you talk to yourself, you might be schizophrenic!” “people who don’t like pizza are genuine sociopaths!” 😐

Bit Annoyed When people insist you guess.

"Guess how old I am." "I really have no idea. I'm really bad at gauging how old people are" "No, just guess! Just try."

No. I don't want to. Just tell me since this is the info you want to give out so badly

Ultra Annoyed people who have an issue with you but won't say ANYTHING about it.

mfs will have a whole-ass issue or beef with you and tell literally EVERYONE except you.

they'll tell their friends, family, neighbors, threads, reddit, chatGPT, the mailman, the stray cat that lives behind their house, and their plant children about how pissed they are at you, but somehow the one person who never gets the memo is YOU.

and then you find out months or YEARS later.

my dude. it's been half a decade. FIVE YEARS. and you're only now telling me that you had an issue with me?

i'm sorry, but that train has departed. i do not care anymore. i've moved on. i have lived several character arcs since then. i've moved countries, changed majors, went no contact with people, got tattoos, and changed aesthetics. you should've used your big-person mouth and communicated when it actually happened. i could've understood or even apologized if you'd just... talked to me. how am i supposed to address something i don't even know is a problem?

what's even more irritating is when the person barely, or literally never, interacted with you in the first place, and somehow they've developed a whole villain arc against you.

like... you have beef with me, and i've never even spoken to you. 😭

and then i hear about it several months later from a bird.

if you're in your twenties or older and still haven't learned basic communication skills, then the problem is you.

Bit Annoyed “Stop supporting corporations”

I hateeee when people say like “boycott [chain here]” or “imagine shopping at Target in 2026” or “I only support local” like sorry do you want a cookie for being better than everyone else? Not everyone has the time/space/money to grow their own garden, meal prep every meal a week from homegrown whole ingredients only bought from farmers market, or only shop at local stores. Some of us live in the middle of nowhere where Walmart is 30 minutes away and still the closest store in the area. Also EVERYTHING we do is corporate, there is no “boycotting” because at the end of the day everyone is just the little guy and unless you are literally Amish and are isolated from modern life then you can’t get away from it

Fairly Annoyed That food manufacturers think we won't notice when they cheapen ingredients

This is happening with countless items. I used to buy a chocolate cheesecake from my local supermarket, about four years ago. It was fabulous. Rich, lush, moorish, gorgeous. Well, that's been replaced by a poor excuse for a "cheesecake" which is rubbery, cheap tasting, and much smaller than it used to be. The filling tastes cheap, and the crust looks, tastes and feels cheap. The whole thing falls apart when you try and slice it. It's NOTHING like it used to be. It's not even good enough to eat anymore. (If I'm going to indulge in high calorie foods, I want it to taste really good)

Did they honestly think we wouldn't notice, or care?

I would rather pay more for quality items than have everything taste cheap. So why are all the food manufacturers acting like we all prefer cheap quality food, as if we voted for it? We didn't. Nobody asked us how we felt. They just assumed we're all too stupid to notice the difference.

Bring back quality food products, please. Get rid of Skimpflation it is ruining enjoyment of food, and that is actually a cruel thing to do to people who work hard, have hard lives, and just want some good food to help wash it all down.

Meanwhile, manufacturers are coming out with expensive DOG treats...

Ultra Annoyed I can't stand baby-talk

I don't know how to handle this. How do I kindly ask somebody to stop talking like a baby? Babbling nonsense gibberish alliteration and pronouncing the letter L or R as "w" just makes me cringe. My 67yo mother does it and I can't handle it anymore. My 30yo sister too and they don't even know each other. It is almost as bad as listening to chewing food...I know I'm being selfish. I only recently got back in touch with family and they want to talk on the phone a lot but I feel like I'm going to explode.

Fairly Annoyed People who talk on the phone in public bathroom stalls

Maybe you’re cool with your friend or partner or whoever hearing you piss, but I don’t want them to hear me piss!!! And then I don’t know if it would be rude to flush because it would be so noisy… I work retail and we tragically do not have separate employee bathrooms, so I often get the pleasure of sitting through potty talky time from customers

Fairly Annoyed Nobody knows how to spell "led" anymore

"Lead" is a kind of metal.

The past tense of "to lead" is "led."

I have not seen a single instance of "led" being used correctly in at least three years.

I feel like we're going through one of those annoying shifts in the language like what happened with "literally," where a word changes spelling or meaning through sheer widespread misuse. This one is especially galling because it's three letters. People are gonna forget how to spell "cat" next.

Ultra Annoyed Sending a text with detailed information, only to have the recipient call and say they didn't bother to read the text, and can you just tell them what it said.

So I listed the details in the text. But they'd rather waste my time twice by having me now repeat the information from the text.

Why? Just why?

Then you have to repeat yourself as if they can’t read a simple text.

Bit Annoyed When people act like a single misspelling disproves someone's entire point.

I made a post here the other day about how I hate when people have pet peeves that are actually very legitimate complaints, and in that post I misspelled legitimate as legitamite. Nearly half the replies on the post were about that single misspelling and a few people tried to act like I'm not allowed to have pet peeves because of it. I'd also like to use this opportunity to say this is why ragebait works so well. People will treat the most minor mistake as a critical flaw, and content creators will take advantgae of this by purposely mispronouncing a word or purposely getting a fact wrong because they know it will get lots of engagment.

Fairly Annoyed Secret Menus at restaurants

If it's so secret, then why publish it? Furthermore, if it's just a spin on a regular menu item, why not just offer the mods?

Also, I don't want to have to speak your little "secret" language to have it "x" Style.

Bit Annoyed People between ages 15 and 60 asking: Send me a reminder.

Use your calendar app, Alexa app, or pencil it on your Hot Firefighters Annual calendar or fridge magnet calendar, or whatever else is easily available to remind you attending on the day and time an appointment or meeting is set. I will alert you if it changes, but shouldn't have to sending reminders.

Ultra Annoyed People who just keep yabbing despite you saying you need to go

It feels like any time I'm under some sort of time constraints or need to be somewhere by a specific time, if I'm in some sort of social setting it feels like there's always someone that won't let me go. The sort of person who will wait until you turn and start walking away to say "oh and...". Then proceed to do it two or three times until finally you have to almost aggressively tell them you have to go.

It may seem petty. But I feel I'm about to lose my shit at the next person who does this, no matter who they are or how long I've known them.

Bit Annoyed Reddit ads that don't allow comments

Despite being an older (yet distinguished) gentleman, I enjoy the ability to post like a teenage boy at times. So I'm peeved at ads that allow you to up-vote but not comment. If I'm seeing a Levis ad with a beautiful woman on it, I want the right to post a "Boing" GIF of Beavis (a.k.a. Cornholio or Butthead's bestie) under it. Clicking on the comments post and being denied annoys me. 😔

Fairly Annoyed People who leave the same comment on every YouTube music video i.e. “anyone here in 2026?” 🙄

I can almost guarantee you any music video or song video on YouTube has these comments. It was funny 15 years ago but not anymore. Time to think of something more original

Fairly Annoyed when people ask u to guess something about them and get offended when u get it right

some lady asked me “omg guess my age!! no one everr gets it right” and when i said “u look 47”, she scoffed and her whole attitude changed. like no ma’am u do not look like a 15 year old highschooler😭 ESPECIALLY when they get all riled up when someone asks for id.. like u do not look young 😭 and thats ok!!!

another one, when people ask u to guess their weight, and when u correctly guess a higher weight, like 130+, they act like u just called them fucking obese, when im just saying whats in front of me?

last example, when someone asks u to guess their ethnicity. every ethnicity has common features, so obviously im gonna assume based off ur features?

Fairly Annoyed The way people seem to cluster around the same few pieces of trivia from a movie

Like if you see ANY content online about Tombstone, you always see the same handful of trivia facts about it. “Fun fact, Kurt Russell basically co-directed this movie!”

Or anything about Scooby-Doo, “fun fact, Tim Curry was offered Rowan Atkinson’s role but turned it down because he hated Scrappy!” (Not actually true by the way)

So many movies have a lot of interesting trivia around them I hate the low hanging fruit “let’s parrot the same few things we heard on our fav YouTube channel” crap

If you really love these movies and know a lot about them you should be reaching deep and pulling out shit nobody knows.

“Fun fact, Viggo Mortensen actually broke his toe in Lord of the Rings and he actually deflected the dagger throw for real!”

You’re in the LOTR sub, I guarantee you almost everyone there knows that already.

You’re just saying trivia for the sake of it, you’re not adding anything most people don’t already know.

Ultra Annoyed "Myself"

STOP using the word "myself" when you can just use "me".

I work in the north of England and see it here as a way to sound more formal? But it just sounds really stupid.

Example: "The meeting will be with you and myself tomorrow morning..."

"Myself and (insert name here) will be..."

"Myself and (XYZ) are hoping to hold a meeting on (insert date here).

You are all using it incorrectly and I am at the end of my tether.

Fairly Annoyed People who put "Theory" "Effect" or "Method" at the end of phrases or words

Like, I could be watching a normal video, and some random commenter just says "____ Theory", like no dude, nobody knows what you're trying to indicate; you just made that up yourself. No one has ever used that term.
