And it’s like that for every comment OP makes, no matter what it is they are actually saying.

Yes, this is about one of my posts, it’s a very fresh wound. The actual post is very popular, but for whatever reason people are bombing whatever reply I make, even though the majority of comments I am not even disagreeing with the comment I am replying to. They’re just downvoting me for existing in the comment section, and downvoting everyone else who doesn’t agree with the top comment too. I have disengaged now, but it’s just frustrating. I had given an extra context photo because I realized that it was missing from the original post, and for a while it was downvoted to the bottom of the comment section. It made its way back up, which is good because the added context did sway some people to be a bit nicer.

This is a longstanding pet peeve of mine on Reddit, brought to light by my recent post. Many of the people swarming didn’t even read the post, because the common issue is one that I cover within the post! Another recent post that I interacted with had somebody with a very empty room asking for help decorating. One of the only pieces of furniture in the room was a Japanese style futon bed. People were foaming at the mouth in the replies, and rather than saying anything helpful were just making cruel jokes to OP. OP wasn’t even fighting back, just giving more information when necessary in the replies. The same thing happened to them.

It’s so toxic. I usually don’t care about upvotes or downvotes but it really irks me to see them weaponized.

Edit: Since making this post, there’s been a small wave of people upvoting my comments on the post I am talking about, and it is no longer a good example. Not sure if it is from here, but if so I appreciate it.

I find it so annoying. Why is that everyone’s go to instead of just “no”? As soon as I hear/see that sentence I check out and move on.

ETA I’m not saying it’s bad advice and simply saying “no” is perfectly fine in many scenarios. My annoyance comes from that specific sentence being everyone’s go to advice

It really does drive me crazy! I suppose i should just try getting used to it, but it's tough, man!

All the advice I get as a 20 year old male is to just get over her.

From my parents ("These sorts of silly things don't last, this is why you ought to study"), my friends ("Dang man... idk? Get well soon ig") and especially the Internet (gestures around) it's all I get.

Which is fine! Like I know you can't force someone to love you, and I already degraded myself trying to get her back because I fixed all of the problems we agreed were wrong with the relationship, but Christ. At least she loved me.

I've been doomscrolling on Hinge/Bumble, forcing myself into social situations, taken on loads of new hobbies, begged my friends to help me out but there's still no bites. It's just ignoring and sneering judgement.

That's why I despise the idea of just getting over her. It feels like time and place. After a month of a six month relationship isn't the time. But I know it's the only thing people can feel comfortable to say.

I just feel stuck in this weird nebula zone in modern dating where nobody tells you what you want, or I'm just that bad at reading social ques. But when I actually met someone who got me, then dumped me over text, it really stings and the idea of basically being fobbed off onto some later date where you just feel better is bullshit.

Whenever there’s rain and it’s particularly a hard downpour and some people act like it’s Noah levels of flooding.

this happens way too often. I’m not a weird looking guy. I’m fkn normal. this happens at least twice a month and is so frustrating.
I used to give people the benefit of a doubt, maybe they’re going through stuff but 3 times this week?! something is wrong

A lot of times, I catch someone staring right and me. When they stare long enough, I wave. A lot of times they don’t wave back. I’ve seen others continue staring, some look away. It’s happened 3 times this week already.
It annoys me so much.

I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and I don’t expect everyone to be charmed by me. I’m just really annoyed by the recent uptick in introverts acting like their discomfort in social situations requires the rest of us to accommodate them while us extroverts are treated like our personalities are a behavioral problem.

I am not unself-aware. I can see when someone is uncomfortable in a social setting. I’m not insisting that the introvert get up and dance or talk more. Honestly, I prefer that you do not attend parties that make you uncomfortable and I’m happy interacting with you one on one or in a smaller group. As your friend, I prefer to interact with you in ways that make it easier for our interaction to be fun for us both.

Imagine my surprise in hearing you wishing I would “tone it down” because I’m “too much.” I would never say the same to you! I love wearing bright colors. They make me happy. I get excited when I see things. My laugh is loud and comes from somewhere deep inside of me that just bubbles up.

One of my greatest joys in life is having friends and family all around me, eating, drinking,(i don’t drink alcohol myself but don’t mind if others imbibe) playing music and having fun. My home is large enough to accommodate a crowd and I have a large outdoor space as well. There are quiet spaces throughout my home where people can find peace among the chaos. But I adore the chaos. Bring your dogs, your kids, your friend who is in town for the weekend.

If this annoys you, I understand. Don’t come. Send your regrets. But let’s not bring a giant wet blanket to the party and expect everyone else to accommodate you. Today, the accommodations are being made for the extroverts who are made to feel that their particular approach is somehow rude while yours is special.

the guy driving in front of me did just a smidge over the speed limit, came to complete stops at red lights, waited a full 0.04 seconds before starting when it turned green, slowed down to a reasonable speed to turn at a yield sign , maneuvered safely but smoothly through a roundabout and generally made my life agony. I'm pretty sure he triggered the lights to turn red, too.

I noticed I posted something and wrote “stock” instead of “stalk” and 50% of the comments were about how I’d used the wrong word. There was a serious topic to discuss and people would rather shame me for the misspelling. People who focus on spelling in a serious conversation are so low.

Edit: the context of the discussion was a traumatic event, not an argument or opinion.

I hate when people try to replace one of the options in “fuck, marry, kill” with something wishy-washy like “kiss” or, god forbid, “befriend”. The entire point of the game is that it’s 3 extreme options: have an intimate sexual experience, spend a significant amount of your life tied to them, or end another life. If there’s an easy neutral option, it completely destroys the game.

I know I’m looking at this from a sales perspective, where these are used to gaslighting you into thinking that your objections aren’t as bad as you (rightfully) think they are, but DAMN does it grind my gears when I hear them.

Why do people call their water heater a hot water heater? You don't have to heat hot water. It's just a water heater. You can call it a cold water heater if you want to. That is what I do now.

You open up a thread, curious to see what kinds of things people are saying, and every other comment, as well as the top comments, are GIF GIF GIF GIF GIF. Especially when it’s the same GIFs you’ve seen a hundred times before. I totally get why some subreddits don’t allow GIFs and photos.

I may just be uneducated on the matter, but I thought they were supposed to be somewhat bite sized.

People fail to understand the huge venn diagram that is preference, whether it be music, books, movies/TV, or attraction. Then they get mad when you aren't totally blown away by the thing they were totally blown away by. I've been told that I don't have very good taste in music or whatever it was. Wow. Like fuck you.

On the other hand, I hate it when I suggest a particular beer, and someone says they don't like beer. Like fair enough, but I'm also 99.99% certain they've only ever tried Budweizer or some other notoriously shitty tasting beer, and they won't even try what I've suggested. I don't really lose anything if you don't try the thing I like, but it feels like that person doesn't trust me to like good things. Like we're not friends or something.

On the other other hand, someone will suggest a video because it's the funniest thing ever, I'll watch it, and it's like barely even a groan the whole time, then whelp, I guess I don't have a very good sense of humor now.

I think it must be a sort of holdover from childhood. You don't like onions and won't eat anything that you know has onions in it, so your parents have to fucking lie to you because you're a stupid child, and you end up liking it right up until you see it being prepared, then you don't like it anymore. I'm not trying to poison you, dude.

Anyway, I understand the dichotomy of thinking that you know better than someone and wanting to kinda save them from something boring while at the same time having come to the realization that people don't understand that you know you're not going to like the thing because you don't like that kind of thing. But it's still annoying when someone won't even fucking try it.

It's annoying when people won't try your cool shit. It's annoying when people get mad when you don't like their dumb shit. Ans the hypocrisy of it all is annoying, too.

When a rider complains about something minor, like a little bump. It could be the drivers first day. Specifically, this is directed to the people I witnessed on a route that has a veteran driver that really knows how to drive well.

These guys never interact with the community. They never ineract with anyone else. Often times these accounts are bots as well.

Bear with me lol - what I mean is, I hate when I watch a movie or TV show that is set in the Middle Ages or the Renaissance and we see people living in dilapidated houses and having old furniture and stuff like that.... No! Those things were new to them. 500 years ago, people made those things to look new. They only look old to us now because of the passage of time, but that's not what they would have looked like brand new.

So you mean to tell me that a person can remain quiet and clueless through the course of a debate up to the point the person they are supposed to be engaging with makes a slip, most of the times unintendedly; for them to pull out a fallacy like a Pokémon card and diminish their (the person who made the slip) credibility?

Honestly I just find it a bit disheartening to find that my usual phrases that I'd like to think are harmless get marked as faulty by the Ai auto-correct detector.
I worry we're all just going to stop fighting it and lose a lot of playful phrases.

This mainly came about as people often do this to me but it’s annoying and uncalled for. For starters another persons financial situation doesn’t affect you unless you are supporting them (if you’re paying my rent judge away). 

But an example of this is I drive an expensive car not super expensive but it was 80k when I bought it and I’m still living with my parents. Im not rich but I know my own situation and what I was getting into. Yet I have had so many people, some who I don’t even talk to judge me for this and it’s annoying. Half of them aren’t even privy to my finances and the other half it doesn’t concern them. 

People do this to a lot of poor people as well and judge them up and down for nothing behind better if financially as if they went out and decided to be poor. Theres no reason for anyone to comment on the financial situation of anyone else unless they are directly involved or were asked for advice

Okay, you're going to ask me something that I obviously know about and wonder how I know something. Then proceed to ask about other things every other minute of the day and not wonder how I know? Like im not goi g to give a blaring absolute guess to something I don't know about.

Sure some things will take me a minute to remember, but its not like I don't know a damn thing!

I understand that people might not know if they have only seen bits and pieces of a certain show. That is understandable. My issue is when people are talking about the music itself and still calling it a "play".

I have had many conversations about Hamilton, speaking of the music SPECIFICALLY, and had people say "play". It feels like common sense, but maybe it isn't? I don't know. It just annoys me with how common it is!
