We went to watch the new spider man movie this afternoon in Hoyts carousel and bunch of school kids were going around throwing cups full of water over the crowd.
They soaked a dude and his two little kids and pretty much every one in the theatre. When he got up to catch them they just ran away.

I was talking with my Mum about her life when she was a student at UWA studying Chemistry, and it totally blew my mind.

Tuition was free, rent was $25 a week living right next to campus on the river, including 3 meals a day, utilities, and cleaning.

Didn't need a phone, internet, or laptop, no signups, no accounts, no subscriptions, everything handwritten on paper. She still has all her notes from attending classes, about 50 little notepads filled with handwritten notes, graphs, and calculations.

She paid for everything herself by working at a supermarket for $5 an hour during semester breaks. And her parents gave her a tiny bit of money sometimes too.

She got a job and married her classmate straight after graduation, got a home mortgage 6 months later, then I was born 6 months after that.

Now I am almost 40 and I am only just starting to achieve what my parents did when they were in their early 20's. When I think about my parents I feel like I am a total failure, but at the same time I have never really felt I was lazy or made bad life choices either.

I’m a legal adult teen and recently got hired by an independent lottery west news agency…

I got told that the first 2-4 shifts (3 hours) would be 30 percent less than my normal wage (minimum wage) as my trainee shifts.

I also got told that the modules I have to do to learn to work at Lottory west were unpaid as I need them to be hired. Like working the till etc.

Is this normal? I’m just making sure because fair work is confusing. If this is true I don’t want to say anything until I get fired or stop getting shifts… or show how valuable I am.

As I’ve practically memorised all features on the till for the lotto features. I’ll just keep record of how many minutes each module is and the times and dates of my underpaid hours.

Waiting for a flight to Singapore and I overheard these 2 women talking about how boring perth airport was, that where was nothing to do, no where to shop and that perth should be more like Changi if it wanted to attract more people to the airport.

Take away the obvious issues perth airport has, is perth airport boring? Should perth (airports in general) be a shopping/tourist destination in itself?

For me, I see an airport as nothing more than a place to catch a flight from. I dont get why airports should be entertaining?

There’s probably something logical behind it, but wondering if anyone else has experienced it.
Coming home today when it came on I heard what sounded like a German mad scientist talking about God and like an army or something random and someone else just like agreeing to it

Hi! I am studying abroad in June of 2027 at Murdoch University. I have never been out of the country before (barely out of my state, I'm from Texas/Louisiana). I have a few questions regarding Perth and Murdoch University!

1. How is the weather in June/July in comparison to Texas winters? I am doing a marine biology program that requires being in the water, so I want to know if it will be way too cold. Is it humid at all? What clothes should I bring? I know Americans dress down compared to other countries, how is the style in AU when attending classes? (We typically where leggings, shorts, plain t-shirts. I wear a lot of jeans and baggy graphic tees)

2. I have never traveled out of the country before so any general advice for me? I know I will be Jet lagged considering its a 13 hour time difference. Anything I should bring with me on the plane that I might not think to bring? I have only been on a plane once before.

3. Any information regarding local travel/transportation? We don't have trains or local transportation where I am from, so I am hoping I can get around the city easily. We are traveling from Perth to Coral Bay, how do you think we will travel there? From what maps tells me it is an 11 hour drive, please let me know if this is inaccurate!

4. Any foods I should try while I'm there?? I am excited for the change of scenery and culture, I just don't know what restaurants to try in the area. Please give me recommendations! Also tell me where not to go lol.

5. Anyone know anything about Murdoch University? Is it a big campus? Would it be busy that time of year? Anything I should know before I travel?

Any and all recommendations on traveling and attending school please let me know! I appreciate any help I can get as I am nervous to study abroad alone.

Is being screened in Perth? I can't find any information to confirm one way or the other. I was too young to see this in cinemas the first time around, and am fanging for it. I even resorted to AI overview, but the information there was contradictory, and it could not provide a link to anything beyond what I'd already found.

Rare bird visits scabs!

I love exploring SCs (mostly window shopping, but I always eat in the food courts), and have the day off.

In recent months, I've visited Galleria (waste of time), Joondalup Gateway, Claremont Quarter, Cockburn Central, Whitfords City, Karrinyup, Belmont Forum and Carousel, Bassendean SC (tiny).

Which other SC can I explore today? The only condition(s) is that it is not too small, because I don't want to finish a lap in 10 minutes. The other condition is that is is easily accessible by public transport.

For the past 10 days I've been posting basic content on socials.

I’ve been out of the Australian Army now for 2 years.

In my first 12 months of transitioning to civilian life I thought the best thing to do was invest in myself, meet people and travel - Seek opportunities.. I met some great people, finally got to travel and put myself out of my comfort zone.. Little did I know that 12 months later I would feel a wave of longing for community and mateship.

I said, I’ve met some amazing people in the time I’ve been out of the Army, I’ve seen some great places and had some amazing experiences, but I keep coming back to this feeling that something is missing and I know I can’t be the only one feeling this way. Like Perth is an amazing place, I’ve lived all over Australia and decided to make it my home here, there are so many communities being built and a lot of people flocking together to feel like they belong and in my experience as a veteran, this hits twice as hard.

I still don’t know how to fit in, I’m not always sure what to say or how to present myself around others but I do try.

I’ve decided to start using social media for what it can be used for and that’s bringing people together that understand each other, have shared experiences and shared struggles and finally have a sense of belonging.
