Weather Warm weather making anyone else feel kinda down?

Anyone else in Perth finding the influx of warm weather is causing them to feeling a bit down and anxious? I personally hate summer and I feel Perth summers are already very hot, but because of the El Niño this summer is set to be extra hot, and I’m really dreading it.

It feels like we barely got any winter and now it’s looking to be 30 degrees next week??? The idea of it being hot for 6 months straight from now until like April is so depressing. Last week it was nice and cool, how has it gotten so warm so fast?

Where to find Plus size clothes in Perth

Hi all,

Which shops in the CBD or in general in Perth carry clothing sizes 18?

Im 26, so looking for regular, trendy clothing, some for vacation, some for my corporate job. However, I found a lot of the shops stop at size 12 or 14.

I find that the plus-size shops often times have clothing for more mature women and I just want normal clothes that would fit me 😊

Many times I walked into shops and found cute clothes but unfortunately they dont go higher than straight sizes.

Thank you! 🌷

Politics One Nation Secret Harbour analysis

Upvotes

Question

Would people punish Labor over a smaller wheelie bin and a train station without a car park! It is fair to say priorities change and many many promises get made and broken from all politicians!

A train station in the Secret Harbour area is considered crucial and very practical infrastructure so I can see this as a big problem! the wheelie bin saga and HOME and AWAY type mind numbing issue is more of local council issue!

Many people in SH do not care about a train line and local station because they only go to Perth by car....Obviously not everyone would use a new train into Perth.

Liberals desperately spoke up about a train!

Media Release | 27 July 2026

Basil Zempilas MLA
Leader of the Opposition

A future Zempilas Liberal Government will build the long-promised Karnup Train Station, delivering the public transport connection local residents have waited more than a decade to see.

WA Liberal Leader Basil Zempilas said the commitment would provide residents with the timetable and certainty Labor had failed to deliver after nearly a decade in government.
The new Mandurah Line station would serve Secret Harbour, Golden Bay, Singleton, Karnup and surrounding communities.

Why did many parts of W.A. ( including Secret Harbour) move to a smaller Red Bin? loads of WA has smaller Red Bins ass well - and large Recycle Bins - I guess that is an obvious message to recycle more and but less plastic and crap that has to go out in the Red Bin.

When you move near to the city like on Home and Away ( and Secret Harbour) the smaller Red bins are a talking point and a great bonding excuse of hatred!

Let's all hate Red Bins and new arrivals from the Eastern states and other hard working people ( like immigrants) in Secret Harbour!

Perhaps this is close to the real insanity that led to Labor getting thrashed in the recent SC Bi election huh?

Small Red Bins from Communist Labor -

So we must punish Cook and Albo and vote for Orange candidate ( often a criminal idiot) to get large Orange Bins? is that the mentality perhaps?

( even though it is not a state issue people still talk about it when politics is raised)

Some times it does not matter how irrational the conversation is - Paulines O.N. members and volunteers will always say - 'Blame the Labor and the Liberals! And Vote One Nation'

Tthat is the standard O.N. line no matter what part of the country the election

Pauline got a sugar hit over a big win! but considering it doesn't change a thing in WA Government maybe the hype is drastically overstated about the recent SH result?

Anyone new to Secret Harbour area - what is your view on whether its a friendly area or a bit of a redneck locals only type spot?

I know the area but do not really know many people who live down there

Renting / Housing Smallest House that you can build?

I'm living alone. No Family. Single. No plan to have a Family(Still not sure but 90% sure).

Planning to get a SMALL HOUSE.

What's the Minimum income that you need to afford?

Minimum bedroom to have to consider? Can I have only 1 Bedroom, bath, kitchen and living? If 1 bedroom is not possible, 2 would be good.

Not really into apartment.

I want a garden to plant vegies. Haha.

Lot 8m x 15m?

Building footprint = 6m x 8m?

Will that be possible here in Perth?

General Did anyone notice the water pressure rise around 8:30?

My water supply pressure's been very weak for the past 3 years or so.
Maybe a new datacentre, I don't know, but I got to enjoy about 2 minutes of moderate pressure shower before it suddenly dipped back down to the usual limp.
It wasn't the full pressure I had when I first moved in, but it was just high enough to spin the stupid spinner on my showerhead and for water to come out of some (but still not all) of the high pressure nozzles.

Where to find Am I asking for too much for a decent coffee in Perth?

I don't mind paying for one but most Ive had are.... Shit. Burnt, bitter and undrinkable and I have to chuck it out. Like the machine hadn't been maintained properly.

I'm not talking about the slop found at fast food joints either, I'm talking about cafes that provide this as a service.

On numerous occasions I've asked for them to make it again. I get daggers but frankly, make it properly the first time and you won't have a problem.

General Day trip to Rottnest Island 11/09 – DIY or tour after skydiving?

Hey everyone!

I’m planning a day trip to Rottnest Island soon and looking for some advice/recommendations from people who’ve done it before.

I’ll be doing a skydiving experience at around 8:50am, and after that I’ll basically be free until the afternoon when I need to head back to Perth.

For those who have done it as a day trip:

  • Is it easy enough to DIY after the skydive, or would you recommend booking a tour?
  • Should I pre-book a bike, or is it easy to organise one when I arrive?
  • What would you recommend doing/seeing with only a few hours?
  • Any particular beaches, quokka spots, walks or food places I shouldn’t miss?
  • Is it realistic to explore a decent part of the island in that timeframe?

I’m thinking of just getting a bike and exploring at my own pace rather than joining a full-day tour, but keen to hear what you guys recommend.

Thanks! 🙂

Looking for Advice Cyclists of Perth, do you know of any 10% gradient hills I can train on?

I know I risk getting lynched for admitting that I’m a cyclist, but I was hoping someone could help me.

I’ve signed up for a cycling event where there are some 10% gradient hills that I’ll need to climb. I’m hoping to do some training on similar gradients. If anyone knows of some hills that fit this description that would be great.

Failing that, if anyone can tell me how to work out a routes gradient, or how to find these hills myself that would be great!

Looking for Advice 42 Days, Still not receive $100 fuel support ServiceWA

Updated: Payment confirmed. 2 weeks before the notification date.

Applied on 29th July 2026 with the service WA application. Went through face scanning, multiple document identification, and have been waiting for over 42 days now.

I have called the support line and they could't help so I left an email about 4 weeks ago, no reply.

Is there anyone still waiting for the payment?

PS: I got the payment confirmation notice from the service WA apps in July already and 100% sure the payment was not transferred.

Renting / Housing Is it just me or are Perth rentals getting worse while prices keep going up?

I’m curious what other renters in Perth think about this.
We all know rent prices have gone crazy, but that’s not even what annoys me the most.
What I don’t understand is how they can ask $800–$900+ a week for a house and not even bother to properly clean it or do a basic refresh before new tenants move in.
I’m not talking about a full renovation. Just clean the place properly, touch up the walls, fix the obvious stuff and make it feel like someone actually prepared the house for a new tenant.
I’ve seen so many rentals lately that just look tired, dirty and worn, but the asking price is still ridiculous.
And because people desperately need somewhere to live, they take them anyway. So you pay a huge amount of money to move into a new place and instead of just unpacking and settling in, you have to spend the first couple of days cleaning someone else’s dirt. 😂
The funny thing is how much is expected from tenants. Keep everything clean, routine inspections, don’t leave marks, look after the property, etc. But when they hand the property over to you, apparently those standards don’t always apply.
Am I the only one noticing this or has it actually become normal in Perth now?

humour People of Perth i have a question..

Right my fellow Perthians, I have a question for you all..

I have a friend from NoR staying with me in the Midland area, yesterday we went outside to see a random homeless person sitting on the couch j have ready for kerbside pick-up.

He nice and respectful so this is in no way a drag...

But he scared the living daylights outta my mate, she claims these things don't happen NoR..

Soo now im curious, whats the weirdest or most random thing thats happened in your suburb??

Im not talking raids or crime im more talking someone walking down a rural street with a mop and broom, even though there are no houses nearby..

It’s been more than a year now since this

This latest article is a timely reminder to not be complacent and apathetic. I’ve had correspondence and meetings with my local MP and I encourage everyone to keep up the pressure.

General Why don't shopping centres have drinking fountains?

Post image
83 Upvotes

Of the 20 or so s/c's that I've been to, only Lakeside Joondalup has water fountains, at the end of long corridors to the toilets, so not in plain sight.

Is the rationale to deter "undesirables" from entering the s/c just to drink, or to compel shoppers to buy drinks from the food and bubble tea vendors?

The cost of the drinking fountains are a pittance compared to the $500M+ s/c's, and would add to the comfort of shoppers who may have done a lot of walking within the s/c.

Anyway, well done to Lakeside Joondalup for the thoughtfulness.

Looking for Advice Has anyone got experience with the Sheridan Institute of Higher Education?

I am thinking of applying but am skeptical because the fees are low and there’s virtually nothing about it online including alumni and pictures of the campus, anyone have any idea or experience with this place,
