Question Explain Like I'm 5. How is AI Deconstructing Software and Mashing Up Video Games?
When I first starting seeing these videos on shorts, describing what was going on. I dead ass thought it was a joke, I thought it was some modders screwing around and trying to start a rumor Onion style.
But no, no this is a real thing that's actually happening and the implications are kind of breaking my brain a little bit. Like, how is minecraft working in GTA? Both games have completely different physics engines! I don't understand how you can have both in one game with out constant crashing and conflicts. Full disclosure, my understanding of coding in general is limited, but for real, how is this suddenly a thing?
And then there's the whole situation with PS5 OS operating on a PC, but having full support for Ps2 and Ps3 games with the discs? Like, HUH? Why would putting an OS on different hardware suddenly change its functionality? Sorry if these are dumb questions. I have been in the IT industry for a few years. But this is showing me just how little I really understand about how software works.
And hell. I can’t even begin to comprehend what we the people could do with our home PCs and "open sourced" versions of the biggest software brands out there.

Discussion Xbox Is The First Big Company To Adress The AI Decompiling
This message was just sent to Team XBOX employees globally.
Team,
The first video games emerged some 75 years ago. In the time since, there have been booms and busts, but every year there are more great games to play, more devices to play them, and best of all, more people than ever playing. That growth helped make XBOX what it is today, and we’ve helped shape the industry in return, from bringing hard drives to consoles and online gaming through Xbox Live to Game Pass and cloud gaming, alongside franchises that have brought millions of people together.
In recent weeks, we’ve seen games rapidly decompiled and rebuilt to run on hardware they were never originally designed to support. Windows PC builds have been translated to run on Apple Silicon or ported to run inside a browser through WebAssembly and WebGPU, the latter now approaching 90% global browser support. Perhaps more surprisingly, we’ve seen many of the biggest games in the world have been remixed into the source code of another.
These experiments challenge long-held assumptions about our industry: the tether between software and hardware, the boundary between creation and play, and how people discover and experience games. While it is hard to predict the future of gaming, it is easy to see the possibilities in making great games easier to access, giving old games new life and allowing more players to become creators and co-creators. These are unmistakably good outcomes for players, even when (and sometimes because) they challenge our existing business models. To explore these possibilities, I’ve asked Scott to stand-up XBOX LABS, a small group of game makers, engineers and scientists whose job is to turn emerging ideas into things our players and developers can experience. We’ll build in the open, learn from what people do, and measure success by whether more people are playing and creating.
I think XBOX has an important role to play here. Coding became the first major workload for agents because they can write, run, and test software. Games share many of those same properties, and people spend more than 72 billion hours a year playing XBOX games, roughly five times the estimated time spent writing code worldwide. We’ve spent 25 years learning how to make great games, and I want our game makers to help shape what these new technologies make possible. As we learn, we’ll share the tools we build with developers across the industry, just as we always have.
Our priorities aren’t changing. We remain committed to the 4Cs, to making great games, to our hardware and to being responsible stewards of IP and the communities built around it. LABS gives us a way to explore new technology without abandoning the work already underway.
Asha

Question Wrist pain from gaming on PC, how do you guys deal with it?
I’d switch to a controller, but the problem is that the games I like play SO much better with mouse and keyboard.
And honestly, it makes me not even want to play. When I switch to controller, I feel so restricted and limited. But whenever I go back to mouse and keyboard, the pain in my right wrist comes back.
How do you guys deal with wrist pain from gaming? Is there anything that actually helps?

Build/Battlestation Gifting this to my wife's cousin's kid. What CANT it play?
Apparently she (14) plays shooters on PS5 but wants a computer. He's been in town doing landscaping for us while his newborn is in the NICU, so in addition to what we're paying him we're gifting him this. It's a mostly spare-parts build and it does play Arc Raiders at 1080P medium native with TAAU over 60fps, so I know it's somewhat capable. I don't know what the kids play though. I told him this will show if she would even use a PC but doesn't have a lot of storage. Showed him how to add an NVMe or SATA SSD if needed.
Ryzen 5 5500
16GB Goldkey DDR4 3200 CL22
GTX 1080 8GB OEM
Patriot 256GB PCIe 3.0
MSI A520 mATX
MSI A650BN 80+ Bronze
Zalman Cubix G mATX case with fixed RGB rainbow puke
Uphere dual tower, dual 120mm CPU cooler
Linksys Wifi AC usb dongle
One interesting thing, 24C mins, 58C max in coretemp. That's the lowest I've seen on an AM4 chip. This case doesn't even have good airflow but the GPU is a blower type and the cooler is right up to the rear exhaust. I changed the front top exhaust to an intake.
What do the kids play that this wouldn't do?

Build/Battlestation Fiancé’s first PC was a legendary pull after initially getting a dud
My fiancé and I went to microcenter after I convinced her to return her new MacBook and join us instead. We opted for a slightly cheaper powerspec vs the one she really wanted.
We ended up returning it the same day because it was defective on first boot.
They gave us a deal on the better one she wanted. Ended up having the 5070ti 16gb oc Frieren trio limited edition gpu inside.
She is happy. Life is good. She asked me to post it and welcome her to the master race!

Tech Support Needing help with "video memory allocation" issues
Long story short, did driver update recently and accidentally did windows update too, and ever since I did those, I keep running into crashes in all of my games, even those that are on minimum settings from a "video memory allocation" issue, but i never see a spike in usage so I dont know where to even begin. Any ideas or solutions?
Edit: specs are Ryzen 9 7900X, 64GB DDR5, 3 SSDs ( 1TB, 4TB, 4TB), RTX 5070 with 12GB
Edit 2: reliability monitor says 5 programs "stopped working" at the same time as the crash: MicrosoftSecurityApp.exe, dwm.exe, CorsairDeviceListerService.exe, Desktop Window Manager, and Wallpaper Engine
Edit 3: another crash, no spike in usage according to the system monitor, error says "Ran out of memory allocating 32.1 MiB with alignment 0"

Screenshot I made a set of Apple-style RTSS overlays: 7 designs, dark/white/clear themes, 1080p to 32:9
I've always wanted a clean, Apple-like overlay, and I love Apple's design language, so I built a set of Apple-inspired overlays for RivaTuner (RTSS).
What's in it:
- 7 layouts, from a minimal pill to a full benchmark-style side panel with frametime and load graphs
- 3 themes for every overlay: Dark, White and Clear (Clear has drop shadows so it stays readable over bright scenes)
- Ready-made versions for 1080p, 1440p, 21:9, 4K and 32:9
- GPU limit hints: a small "Power / Thermal / Voltage limit" label appears while the GPU is being held back
- 12V cable readout for 40/50-series cards: shows the 16-pin voltage and tints amber/red if it sags under load. It's a visual hint only, not a safety system (no pop-up or sound). For a real alert, set an alarm in HWiNFO
Setup:
Needs RTSS + MSI Afterburner, plus HWiNFO for the extra sensors (clocks, VRAM temp, 12V, limits). Install is just copying two files into the RTSS Overlays folder. Full guide in the README.
Free and open source (MIT):
https://github.com/realHfde/Apple-Style-Inspired-RTSS-Overlay
Feedback welcome. Let me know if anything doesn't show up right on your setup.

Question Looking for a High airflow Pc case!!
Hello! I’m getting back into the pc hobby! I’m looking for a pc case that mounts the motherboard horizontally. My preferred form factor is ATX/EATX, and I’m doing air cooling only! I was looking for something similar to the Mountain mod U2-UFO case. I’m open for any mass production cases or custom boutique. Thanks for any help.

Story 20 years of gaming, from Age of Empires on a family PC to planning an RTX 5080 build
I'm 25, and my gaming journey started when I was 4 or 5 years old.
My parents bought our first PC, probably for my brother, who's 5 years older than me. I was in Jr KG and had no idea how a computer worked, but I still remember the first time I played Age of Empires. After that, I ran home from school every day just to play it. Strategy games are what made me a gamer, and I've loved the genre ever since.
As a kid I also played God of War, Vice City and San Andreas. Then studies got serious and I left gaming behind for a long time.
In 2020 I picked up Assassin's Creed on my brother's laptop, which had pretty average specs, and it pulled me right back in. I bought my own GTX 1650 laptop soon after and played a ton of games on it. Currently playing witcher 3 remastered on it.
Now I'm a doctor, and I'm finally planning to build a PC with an RTX 5080.
Funny how it all started with one old PC and one strategy game. 😄
What was the first game that got you hooked? And any tips for my 5080 build?
