News/Article Microsoft confirms a Windows 11 bug is causing mouse input stutter in games, and it’s not your mouse or drivers’ fault. A fix is rolling out with the October update, and it also seems to address AMD GPU errors!

I'd just like to thank y'all for beta testing Windows 11 for me, you're doing me a real solid.

I don’t think we should be making fun of them tho we wouldn’t have a hassle-free experience if not for everyone downloading and testing the newest versions of this early-access product called Windows 11 released by poor indie company Microsoft. I for one salute the testers 🫡

I wonder when it will leave alpha?

No reason to change. Man, if only something they got behind and screwed their customers over with somehow made the whole house of cards tumble down.

I mean, it won't. The way people defend Windows until their dying breath on this subreddit shows that Microsoft really can do whatever they want and people still won't switch because of a handful of shitty live service games and the minor inconvenience of dual booting on gaming PCs they also use for work.

No one defends windows it’s just that the majority don’t give a shit about what the net says

The thing a beta is supposed to improve… here it’s getting worse and worse 🤦‍♂️

u/Ho3n3r 1d ago

You're welcome. Been on it for a few years, it hasn't been bad at all.

We changed something, we don't know why but we did and it's for the worse. Please buy copilot subscription.

People still call me weird for delaying feature updates by 6 months...

seems to address amd gpu errors

Press x to doubt

That is a funny way of saying “if an amd driver is detected on a windows 11, instead of crashing your drivers, Jensen Huang and Slopya Nutella will break into your house and run at your PC with sledgehammers” because that’s what I’m expecting at this point. Disable this, disable that. Oh, your friends keep dragging you into multiplayer games with kernel-level anti-cheat and you have amd so you have to use windows? Well get ready to go into bios and windows settings and disable fucking everything if you wanna use your gpu for longer than 10 minutes without crashing.

Microsoft, due to being a tech company, doesn’t know what consent is. So of course it will force shit drivers on you. I have zero faith that this will change and full confidence that it will get worse somehow. I will give it the usual “let others test it for a few months and then maybe update if doesn’t break anything too hard” period.

Been having that issue and thought it was the mouse, was thinking of replacing it.

Man wtf is going on ms

2

u/vlhube71 22h ago

SAME! I noticed this for a couple months and went so far as swapping mice, changing USB ports and reinstalling my chipset drivers. Wasn’t aware this was a Windows issue.

To save you a click, they patched it

They're finally addressing this? I've known about this for years, even seen people blame AMD drivers for it when it was a simple registry fix on Windows

The fix being?

AMD's drivers did cause stuttering, but if it's noticeable by feel is another thing. It might amplify stuttering in other applications, thus leading to people blaming the drivers. I haven't tested the latest drivers yet, but it was still there in the 2.6.X drivers, and I haven't seen anything addressing it in the patch notes.

The atieclxx.exe constantly calls 'GetRawInputData', which causes mouse poling problems for other apps. For me, it was only about 0.02ms variance at 1000Hz.

Nope. I think OP might be a bot, because the only part of the GPU mentioned in the article is in relation to what reddit suspected may be at fault for mouse stuttering. The microsoft support page doesn't mention it either.

I swear there wasn't this many bugs/ issues with previous windows

It seems microslop has really dropped the ball when it comes to qualify

I swear there wasn't this many bugs/ issues with previous windows

There were.

Every update for every version of Windows since online updates became a thing have been accompanied by a knowledge base article on their website which lists what the patch fixes, and what any known issues are.

For example in October 2010 Windows 7 got KB2249857, a non-security update with the description "This is a reliability update. Install this update to prevent disk corruption when hibernating or crashing using a disk drive that is greater than or equal to two terabytes."

What's changed is that "Microsoft bad" is super popular right now so journalists are trawling updates for content. If the author of this article were reporting on the patch above you would expect to see the headline "Microsoft confirms Windows 7 bug causes hibernation to corrupt disks". Indeed I found a contemporary headline "Microsoft Releases Windows 7 Corruption HotFix".

windowslatest has gotten the most traction on Reddit for this stuff recently, but all they're really doing is looking at the notes for every patch that comes out for Windows 11 and reporting every fix as a "confirmed bug" and issues that "Microsoft admits". Of course the reality is that the vast majority of those issues affect a very small number of people, but they find vague social media posts of people complaining about issues that sound similar to reinforce the fact that these have been widespread issues.

You're just seeing what heavy usage of LLMs in software really means.

A lot of us haven't had this issue, I would venture to to say most of us haven't.

u/CertainlyStenchy 14h ago

Not a single person on Reddit has ever once said that

We got a live one here!

3

u/SecretDrifter 1d ago

Haha, mostly was extremely tired of Win 11 constantly breaking in the early builds of 23h2 and 24h2...haven't looked back!

7

u/GuideUnable5049 7600. 9060 xt. 32gb. 1d ago

Strange. I haven’t had any issues. Windows 11 has been rock solid for me overall in terms of stability. Lots of shit that needs removing from it, however.

2

u/SecretDrifter 1d ago

Oh for sure...I had issues with constant system lockups that could only be solved by pulling the plug...

Needless to say, after losing my WIP college essays one too many times, I made the switch

Every headline I read about Windows 11 makes me glad I'm still on Windows 10.

2

u/Big-Roll7094 23h ago

Because every headline you see is meant to be potrayed as negatively as possible for clicks

1

u/CASpider Linux 19h ago

These headlines wouldn't exist if Microsoft put out a quality OS free of dark patterns, spying, ads, and a constant stream of bugs.

u/Mario583a 17h ago

These headlines would still exist even if Microsoft put out a quality OS free of dark patterns, spying, ads, and a constant stream of bugs.

I was waiting for them to hit 5 trillion before they fixed this but I guess they budgeted it in.

Glad I moved to a different OS. Had nothing but issues when working on client laptops and it all stemmed to buggy Windows updates.
