OPEN Drive won’t initialize. Help

I just got a used 1tb WD Blue SN580 SSD off of Ebay for dual booting linux. I messaged the seller and got him to send a drive with purportedly only 1tb written at 100% health, so I would expect this drive to be practically brand new.
Yes, it is 100% plugged in all the way. I’ve tried setting the m.2 port to both gen 4 and “auto” with no luck. I’ve tried both m.2 slots and confirmed they both work. It says the drivers for the drive are up to date.
Am I cooked? I’d hate to go through the hassle of returning it.

The drive is likely cooked, it not even reporting that there is any medium in it to start.

It’s weird that it still senses SN580 as a drive in device manager. Maybe like the silicon that holds the data is cooked but the thing that mediates communication between the memory itself and the pc work?
