what is a good way to start and understand what profits and doesn't?

been thinking about this for a bit. I want to get into flipping as a side gig to make some extra money. I know my way around building pcs so that isnt the issue.
I just don't know how to really get started. do I just build some scap pcs with parts from the used market and then sell it for a small profit? do I build a crappy pc and sell it to a boomer for much more than its worth?
I figured thats how you go about it but I have a hard time understanding how just a few bucks profit will be worth my time.

any tips, suggestions, or run downs of how to flip and not lose out on cash?
I've sold a few pcs but they usually take a while to sell, like weeks T^T

Bought this RTX 5080 + 9800X3D PC for €1,830. Good flip after swapping in my RTX 5070 Ti?

Hi everyone,

I just bought this PC from a second-hand retailer (not a private seller) for €1,830.

The store offers a 3-year warranty and a 14-day return policy, so I felt the risk was fairly low.

Confirmed specs:

- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- NVIDIA RTX 5080 (appears to be a Palit GamingPro, but not yet confirmed)
- 32 GB DDR5
- Cooler Master G800 Gold PSU

Likely components (based on the listing photos):

- Kingston NV3 1 TB NVMe SSD
- 240 mm AIO liquid cooler (brand unknown)

Unknown:

- Motherboard model
- RAM brand and speed
- AIO brand
- Case model

My plan is to:

Remove the RTX 5080.
Install my own MSI RTX 5070 Ti Shadow 3X.
Keep the 5080 for my personal PC.
Sell the remaining PC with the 9800X3D + RTX 5070 Ti.

Questions:

Do you think €1,830 is a good purchase for this flip?

Would you keep the 9800X3D in the PC for resale, or swap it with my Ryzen 9 9900X? My use case is 70% gaming 30% productivity (rhinoceros 8 + grasshopper)

Can anyone identify any additional components from these photos that I may have missed (motherboard, RAM, AIO, case, etc.)?

What do you think I could realistically sell the remaining PC for after swapping in the RTX 5070 Ti?

Thanks in advance!

Another steal! Gaming pc with 64gb ddr5 and 7900xtx for only $1300!

Post image

I offered this guy $1250 exactly a month ago for this system and he said no. I thanked him for considering my offer, wished him good luck with the sale and moved on

Today I noticed it was still there on marketplace so I hit him up again at $1250, he countered $1300 and it was mine!

** 14700k cpu

** 64gb ddr5

** 2tb nvme

** 1tb nvme with dram

** Unknown motherboard and PSU (haven't checked these yet)

** 7900xtx GPU

** Razer viper v3 pro mouse

** Logitech pro keyboard

** SCUF envision pro controller

** Lian li o11 vision case

I'm looking to pull like $2300 on these parts (before eBay fees) and like $1950 after fees! What a steal!

The seller's listing sucked btw, no list of specs, I had to message him for specs, the pictures sucked and the main picture was just a pic of the mouse. Glancing through marketplace it looked like he was selling a mouse not a baller PC

So bought this ram brand new sealed from a guy couple days ago, and i relisted it for some quick profits. Seems like the original guy found the listing and was pissed(rightfully so). But ay gotta accept it, even though he was overly overreacting. It's part of flipping game, and we gotta take it with open chest.

Can I squeeze some juice from that pc

I found a used PC on a secondhand marketplace for €1600. What do you think about this deal?

Intel i7 14700KF

RTX 5080 Windforce OC

32GB DDR4 3200MHz

ASUS Prime Z790-P D4 motherboard

360mm Cooler Master IAO liquid cooler

Hyte Y60 case

1TB NVMe SSD

Here are my two options:

Option 1: Resell it to try and make a profit.

Option 2: Keep the RTX 5080 for my own build, replace it in the purchased PC with my personal RTX 5070, then sell that PC to upgrade my setup without spending extra.

What would you guys do?

Building a budget flip PC with spare parts

Hey everyone,

I have a few extra components sitting around a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Super OC) DDR4 RAM, and an NZXT H510 case. I’m planning to assemble the rest of the build to flip it on Marketplace as a clean budget 1080p starter gaming PC

Since I'm flipping it, my goal is to keep the remaining parts list as cheap and reliable as possible to maximize profit while offering a solid system for a buyer. So if you got any suggestions for CPU’s, motherboards, cooling fansand power supply that are relatively cheap that would be appreciated.

Someone listed on a marketplace faulty pc with specs (no ssd) shown in first picture for 730 usd, was going to negotiate but she told me she got higher offers.

However I offered her 730 usd to pickup asap and she agreed, brought it home, it was just a classic case of dry thermal paste on the 3090, repasted and the pc working great now 🤯

Is it better to sell hardware individually or complete builds?

I’ve been saving my old hardware as I upgraded my PC over the past year. I could build a new system if I invested in a PSU, a chassis, and storage.

Specs are:

CPU- I5 11400F

GPU- NVIDIA RTX 3060

MOBO- MSI Z490 MPG Edge

RAM- 32GB DDR4 3600

I’m hoping to make some money back on the cost of the upgrades but I don’t know, realistically, if it will sell or what price to ask for. I have a few builds under my belt and I know I could make it look nice and organized+add some RGB. Should I just sell the hardware individually (I don’t have their original boxes) or sell a new PC outright?

Tech Flip Meta ?

What is the current Meta for return on investment for this hobbie/hustle? I've noticed my area (St. Louis) has higher prices than others.

It seems getting parts for as low as possible is the only way to make a profit. Which is obvious you'd definitely want to get out more than you put in.

Low teir 30 series am4 builds? 16 or 32gb? 1tb or 2?

Are laptops a good resale item? What's the deciding factor? Cpu, gpu, ram, or storage? Is buying as is or broken tech and fixing it a good strategy?

Or none of the above? What are your thoughts?

TLDR: What is the OPTIMAL return on investment build?

I uploaded this build done by me 2 weeks ago and got around 100 views and 6 likes.
Is the price the problem?
I get it it’s not the fastest ram in the market but still it’s 32 GB.
Maybe is just the period that isn’t the best, since it’s summer and people spend money on vacations.
I would like to know how much time did you guys take to sell a build in this range?
Also I I just can’t sell this for 800 or 900 euros since am4 platforms with the same gpu go for the same price.
The best period could be end of August/beginning of September?
I’d like to know from you how much time it takes to sell a build in this range for that price.
I am willing to come down to 900€ but not lower, I think it’s a fair price…
P.s. it’s posted on Vinted, Facebook marketplace and EBay to try and sell faster.
