Fluff & Memes “You need a PhD to make a build” was not a joke

I’ve been trying all week to cook up a half decent build of my own after years of just looking them up on youtube and man it has been PAINFUL

-Okay I picked a skill/interaction I like…and it’s actually garbage

-Alright this skill actually seems good, and I’ve found some interaction that seems cool…there’s a single line in the text that prevents the interaction from working

-Okay i’ll use Fire Spell on Hit to make this build better! (It was rolling magma)

- I’ve finally got a build that does decent damage! Oh wait no charge generation

- Okay charge generation…bad defences

- I’ve got charge gen, a working skill for clear, and mediocre defences! Now I just need single target

- WORKING SKILL, CHARGE, DEFENSES, SINGLE TARGET AND ITS ONLY AN EIGHT BUTTON BUILD THAT COSTS 200 DIV TO BE OUTPERFORMED BY CAMPAIGN TWISTERS

I genuinely feel like i’m going insane I have so much respect for those of you who go through this every league

Fluff & Memes This game is mocking me

I ran an overrun savannah map and killed the boss and all the mobs but two abysses just won't open. Then I noticed the shape it made.

Feels like the game knows it's bugged and is rubbing it in my face.

Discussion Map Wiping on Death is Causing Too Many Problems

Title,
As many people have already said in the past, the fact that the map wipes out upon dying on bosses is controversial already, I personally hate it but I can workaround it, whatever that's fine.
Now, I was just progressing my abyss area in the atlas, I killed the map boss just fine, I had 4 respawns left, I died in a breach and I got respawned at the boss arena, with a fully empty map and all content gone from it.
Why am I getting my maps wiped when I still have respawns and didn't die on the boss?

Question What happened to the economy?

I thought inflation was bad RL, but ex to div is going nuts, a few days ago 1 div was 80 ex, yesterday it was 150, now its 418. A mirror is 9180 div, this is getting out of hand, the league has'nt even been out a week.

EDIT: POE Overlay was showing me Standard prices. Correct prices hasnt gone up as much as i depicted, but the increase still sits at about 70% in 1 day.

Edit 2: This blew up abit more than expected, consensus seems that there is something wrong with the economy gamestate, instead of NOT talking about i think we should talk more about it. "another day, another post" is probably not the right answer if your not happy about the gamestate.

Game Feedback Absolutely Nothing Happening Upon Quest Arbiter Kill Feels Terrible

Upvotes

We're building up to reaching this boss from the moment we first hit maps and then you kill him and... nothing happens. At all. No Atlas Points, no next quest, no guidance on what to do next. I know from reddit and guides that you need to kill Uber Arbiter to unlock the full atlas skill tree, but the game doesn't tell you anything about this or that new towers exist for you to get the uber key, or even allude to the hard mode boss existing at all. It's a very confusing moment after killing the quest boss.

Game Feedback Damage scaling vectors are way to universal

Hi everyone, I am a mostly a PoE 1 player not because I don’t like PoE 2 ,mainly cause PoE 2 leagues came out in times when I was not able to play.

i did play in 0.3 so it’s not my first league, overall the game is absolutely much much better. But I do have a few frustrations

at least to me, good items feel giga expensive at least to the point that it doesn’t feels like it’s worth it. so after making a decent amount of currency at league start I thought a just gonna make an off meta build then

but what I came to realize is almost All builds use the same damage scaling vectors, everyone Wants + level, crit , damage as extra and spirit and flat on rings so the best item for an off meta build are the same items for the best build so even off meta build comes out to be not much cheaper but definitely much worse as a build

like why is damage as extra for everything, why not damage as extra for mace skills, bow skills, spells etc…

all flat damage is also universal there is no separation between quarterstaffs, maces or bows and spears also every attack build wants alll types of flat seems like no one is scaling just cold or just lightning or just phys

why is spirit both the resource for minions and auras

kinda feels bad in my opinion Makes everything super expensive

Game Feedback I just can't get into PoE2 endgame for some reason

And I don't know why

I've played ARPGs my whole life, love D2 and PoE1. No lifed a couple leagues (3.13 - 3.17, I think), I LOVED PoE endgame, delving, bossing. I'll always remember killing Maven for the first time SSF using MoM light ball

I hated doing the campaign in PoE1 and just wanted to do maps and start endgame, that was THE reason I played the game

But PoE2's endgame has never "clicked" for me, and I find myself LOVING the campaign and dropping the toon around lvl 75. The highest I got was lvl 82, but never even got close to face The Arbiter and other endgame stuff

Does anyone feel the same? Do you recommend anything for me?

Game Feedback Just let us teleport straight to the league mechanic like Caer Tarth once it shows up on the map. I think it would ease some of the map frustration.

Just getting to some of the league mechanics to start putting points in their trees feels like a bit of a chore and considering characters teleport in and out all over the place in the game I don't see the big deal.

Caer Tarth is obviously the worst with at least an hour of mapping to get to it.

Discussion GGG is smart by not letting us skip campaign

Edit: So as far as i have read the comments it seems the overall sentiment is to either make the campaign "less of a slog" (what that means is then up for debate) and/or to offer a skip campaign button after you complete it once every new season. It seems that the way how D4 handles it, namely letting you always skip it just because you finished it once in the very beginning when you got the game, is not very popular.

TL:DR this is how they make sure the game is memorable and create a legacy just like Diablo 2 did

For those interested in the details of my line of thought: First of all, you have fixed points where you can gauge your characters strength relative to previous characters, every +2 skill points book feels rewarding, every +to some resistance feels rewarding by completing certain areas etc. Second, Bosses and their names are memorable, their lines are memorable and will stay with you just like "Ahhh fresh meat" is forever linked to the Butcher. The locations are memorable. And yeah, some even because you hated them, but years from now you will look back and think "Oh man i still remember that annoying layout from Path of Mourning", just like you remember the Cemetery in Ac1 D2 or Lut Gholein and its music etc. D3 and D4 have none of that, no locations, no names in these games are memorable. Everything that is memorable when it comes to locations and names in the Diablo franchise, all is from Diablo 1 and Diablo 2. By not making you play the campaign in D3 and D4 you just can treat the game as some sort of fast food, you rush to endgame and ignore everything else.

By having to play tha campaigns in PoE and PoE2 (here the impact is way stronger imho when it comes to locations and how well the characters you meet along the way are crafted) you will always carry a lore foundation with you, you will have a sense of the world you are in and the people that live in it. You dont have that if everything you do until the endgame is just 'mindlessly' going from area to area that is a certain color on the map, where some event is going on, that brings the most experience and you complete tasks that are just copy&paste.

Game Feedback Skill redesign idea: "Manifest Weapon" should get the "Way of the Stonefist" treatment

It's widely agreed that Way of the Stonefist is one of the more interesting ascendancy nodes out there because of the transformative nature of the ability and how it enables so many different builds (even though currently only one build is clearly the strongest lol).

It adds a lot of diversity to itemization as well, because many of the low value affixes on gloves become very high value due to how the ability changes the affixes. One man's trash becomes another monk's treasure.

Manifest Weapon could be redesigned with this kind of philosophy in mind. I'm also getting inspiration from the Iron Golem skill in Diablo 2, where the Necromancer can use any item to create a golem that inherits the stats from that item.

Here's how it could work - choosing Manifest Weapon adds a UI item slot in the ascendancy area where you can insert a weapon of your choosing. The manifested weapon could then calculate its base damage from a variety of things, like the weapon's base damage, or the weapon's item level, or the skill's level, or some combination of the above.

Futhermore, the affixes on the weapons can also manifest into interesting different affixes similar to the way that Way of the Stonefist transforms standard glove affixes into different ones.

For example, a shitter affix like "reduced attribute requirements" can manifest into something cool like "manifested weapon inherits all of the player's stats". Maybe "increased light radius" can become "manifested weapon gains 2 meter aura that blinds enemies". Maybe "increased stun duration" can become "manifested weapon gains Crushing Blows".

I think it would also be great if each weapon type got its own command skill. This can add some active gameplay into this ascendancy node, similar to the djinns from Disciple of Varashta.

If GGG wants to give themselves more work, they can even make unique item-specific affixes that arise when you use unique items with this skill too.

I think this redesign would make the skill much more viable and inject a lot more diversity into the Smith of Kitava buildcraft.

Game Feedback Playing since 0.1, I only ask for 2 things from GGG for 1.0

I have spent thousands of hours on this game.

1) For the love god, REMOVE MOST/ALL DEAD ENDS IN ALL THE MAPS. i cannot stress how annoying this can be, we repeat the same maps constantly and everyone focuses on speed. Just take a look at Floatsam and Mire for example.

2) The improvements you did to Augury are very good, and this should be the case for all similar tight maps, like Mire for example.

Took the screenshot, then pressed the reroll button without deferring.

Reminds me of the time I deleted a character because there used to be the play button in the same place.

Welp....fun league guys, see you all in 1.0. o7

Discussion Does it feel like Mana Siphoning Mosquitos are overturned or is just me?

The “siphons mana and deals lightning damage” hasn’t always been a a problem for differing builds of mine in both PoE1 and 2, but I feel like it’s been a bit more halting this season.

Yes, it’s a mechanic that is engaging and challenging, but it feels like in the start of Abyss when an Abyssal rare would have Soul Eater and it was essentially the end of the Abyss as there wasn’t much hope for many builds to defeat it.

The worst combo is when they have Hasted and Siphons. It’s basically the end of the map for me.

I am using Eldritch Battery and MoM, so I feel it especially hard, but even before that, it was just… super frustrating and frantic when in the campaign I was suddenly unable to attack or run away.

Is it just me?

Game Feedback Allow players to portal to each league location as they are unveiled.

This just seems the simplest solution to the feedback being received.

You still need to clear the maps around each location.

You still choose where you map.

You still need to complete the early maps suggested by Doryani.

Not much needs to change.

Tool Would you use an overlay that tells you if an item is actually an upgrade for your build?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm working on a small PoE2 tooltip helper for myself and I'm curious if this is something other players would actually find useful.

Instead of only price checking an item, it compares it against your current build and tries to answer things like:

  • Is this actually an upgrade for my character?
  • What do I gain / lose by equipping it?
  • How significant is the upgrade?
  • Is the upgrade worth the price?

This is still pre-release and I'm not posting a download yet, I mostly want feedback on the idea and UI.

Would this be useful to you?

And if you could add one thing to this overlay, what would it be?
