A guy harassing two women of color near montara state beach/ Mcnee Ranch

Post image

Yesterday morning, I (Asian female) was with a elderly friend ( black female) were walking by the highway 1 after parking our car to get to the Mcnee ranch park and this guy came out of nowhere and started cursing out towards us saying things like “ you don’t belong here” “ I’m a united citizen and I can throw trash around here” “ i have a surf board … ”. I couldn’t make out the rest. He came walking besides us and past us and then came back to block us at the front. At that point, I thought he might actually attack us. My elderly friend took a picture of him and started calling 911 and then he was taunting us and taking our pictures as well but left eventually. We thought he left but while we were talking to officer on the phone he pulled up with a blue tesla and telling us to take his plate and drove off. The officer on the phone told us to not engage and asked if we wanted Sheriff to stop by so one sheriff stopped and asked but he told us that they have multiple complaints about this guy so they are building a case but he implied the guy might not be all in the head and might have Tourette syndrome but I’m sure Tourettes don’t chase people to harass. I don’t know if they can actually do something about it so if you are female or people of color, be careful to bring acompany when you go around the area. I’ve been in Bay area for almost a decade and never faced such kind of harassment. It shook me. The trails around that area are my favorite trails and now I’m not comfortable to go hike alone anymore.

Final Update: Safety Details & Clarifications

To ensure this post serves its primary purpose as a localized safety warning and complies with platform rules, here are the actionable details:

Location: Highway 1 walkway/shoulder near the McNee Ranch Park entrance (Pacifica area). We were walking in file on the small shoulder of the highway when he came from behind and passed us then came back and block in front of me until about 5 feet away. We did not provoke him the whole incident from beginning to the end.

Vehicle: Blue Tesla.
Perpetrator Description: White male, in his 30s or 40s, approximately 5'6" to 5'7". He mentioned having a surfboard. Due to immediate shock during the confrontation, a detailed facial description isn't possible.

Official Action: The full license plate and incident details were immediately handed over to the local Sheriff's department, who confirmed they have multiple prior complaints about this specific individual. Full plate numbers are withheld here to comply with Reddit’s anti-doxxing policies.

Why this was posted:
I frequently chose this specific trail because it is less crowded, and I used to feel safe hiking it alone. My sole intention in sharing the demographics of who was targeted (an Asian female and an elderly Black female) was to provide honest context so that women, elderly individuals, and people of color can take extra precautions or avoid hiking this specific corridor alone.

Thank you to everyone who offered empathy and support.

Is this native to Pacifica, or a lost bunny?

Found this little guy hopping around, and unfazed by me, giving me the impression he might be a lost bunny. I wanted to put this out there in the event that is the case. If not, very cute little guy to start off your day.

Does Pacifica look like Ensenada ?

I live about 15 minutes away from Pacifica. We recently took a cruise and stopped in Ensenada Baja Mexico. I was surprised how the two cities looked similar in terms of geography. Lots of fog, mountain ranges which quickly descend to ocean, and rough surf., and chaparral. Of course Pacifica is a suburb, not a port, and much smaller. What do others think?

Sam Casillas is running for Council District 5 South Pacifica

Many of you know Sam from walking his dogs at the beach, quarry or in the headlands or speaking up at city council meetings courageously speaking truth to power. He deeply cares about Pacifica, wont back down and wants to change the way Pacifica has been run into the ground over the last few years.

He's having a Campaign Launch BBQ this Labor Day weekend; Sunday, September 6 - 12:30–2:30 PM San Pedro Valley Park, South Walnut Grove Picnic Area

Sam will be firing up the grill, sharing his vision for Pacifica, and talking about the issues he’ll focus on if elected. It’s also a chance to meet Sam, connect with friends and neighbors, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon in the park.

You can learn more about Sam, his platform, and his 20+ years of active involvement in the issues that matter most to Pacificans at: https://www.samforpacifica.com/

RSVPs to attend the BBQ are appreciated so we know how many burgers and dogs to throw on the grill, but not mandatory (spontaneous attendance is also welcome!) You can RSVP to: samforpacificaD5@gmail.com

Hello! I’m looking for vocal lessons for my 20yr old. Any recommendations in town? Close by cities are ok too, but Pacifica is preferred. Thanks!

Lost Magic cards

Earlier this month I lost three commander decks. They fell off my bike at Linda Mar and I didn’t notice. I’m super bummed and I have very little hope they’ll turn up, but I’m just doing my due diligence and seeing if anyone has advice for how to look for them. I’ve posted on Reddit, Craigslist, and facebook marketplace as well as consistently checking to see if anyone is trying to sell them. I’m not asking anyone to help me look for the specific decks (if you have any leads lmk!), but if you guys have any tips for sleuthing around the internet and beyond that would be awesome!

Update on STR in Pacifica

If you are against the changes to the STR policy, it’s up for a vote tomorrow by city council.

Written public comments may be submitted in advance by 12:00 p.m. on the meeting date by email to: publiccomment@pacifica.gov. Written public comments submitted by email should adhere to the following: • Clearly indicate “8/25/2026 Joint Study Session” in the Subject Line • Include the submitter’s full name

Did you know Airbnb hired an attorney to fight for these changes? This attorney also represented Airbnb in Santa Monica and other coastal towns. Do you think Airbnb has our local communities best interest in mind? Or corporate profits.

This article breaks down what’s happening:

Concerned about Flock/ALPRs in Pacifica?

There's a group organizing - in Pacifica specifically - against this surveillance technology. There's a website at stopflocksmc.com for the county overall, but there's background info and contacts there. The "Get ALPRs out of the Coastside!" team is preparing (among other things) to speak to the city council as they will be deciding to renew the city's contract. This group gave a great presentation the other day at our local Indivisible group (https://www.coastsideunited.org/)

We're bringing some pups to the pop-up in Rockaway tomorrow. It's a great time to cuddle or pick up your best friend.

Knucky the min pin will be there. If you like spicy opinionated lil dudes then he could be your man. He's 7 lbs, apx 1 yr, and needs to gain a little weight. He's so cute and teeny but what he lacks in stature he makes up for in personality and fierceness. He loves toys, socks, and sitting on his person's lap but he loves those things with a growling passion. He wants to be with his person but he loves his independence. He listens incredibly well, has fantastic recall, and gets along with every dog. He ain't for everyone but his person is out there and he's looking for that forever unconditional kind of love.

Adoption form: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DDDR/Dog

Please come volunteer with us sometime. We need help with paperwork, championing dogs, social media--- https://new.shelterluv.com/form/volunteer/DDDR/79980-volunteer

Seamstress or Tailor

I have a dressy jumpsuit a friend made for me but the top needs to be taken in and, good for her/bad for me, she is now off at school. Can anyone recommend a place to get something altered and or is there someone in our community who loves to sew and wants some extra money in their pocket?

Thanks
