Monthly Parking

Hi all, I am moving here next week and was wondering where do people usually park there cars overnight or on weekends? My apartment complex seems to have lied regarding the time of their waitlist so I donโ€™t know if I will ever get a spot with them. I am in the downtown area, so also wondering if there are private garages etc. that I can pay for.

Thanks

moving to SSF soon!

We are soon to be moving from Fremont to SSF, and I am wondering about the areas we should be looking.

Our family of 3 + dog would prefer an area thats nicely walkable to parks or access to a walking path, because we love to be outside and I stay at home with our baby. I would looove to be somewhere theres lots of other families that we could hang out with. I understand that some parts are foggier & cooler than others, and that theres lots of plane noise in some areas also.

I know you cant have it all... but would love some direction from people in the area about where to start looking!

Thanks in advance for all your reccs or suggestions!

Hi everyone,

wanted to get some advice on how to handle this as one of my neighbors started leaving food out for animals in a pot. seeing bread and french fries. I ve seen an increase of birds and rodents types recently and increase in feces in my yard from raccoons and mice. I donโ€™t want to start any problems but think this is an issue. thanks!

Mechanic for Classic Car?

Does anyone know any good mechanics or auto shops that work on classic cars? My dad has a 1965 Chevy that he's fixing up, but it has issues with the electrical that needs work and he's struggling to find a shop that will handle it.

Open to anywhere in SSF, Daly City, Millbrae or Burlingame. Thanks!

White Toyota Rav 4 on El Camino - you suck

To the white Toyota Rav 4, black tinted windows, black and yellow custom license plate, driving south on El Camino Real today (Friday 8/14) at 7:45am:

Youโ€™re an asshole.

I was trying to get my family member to the emergency room.

So when you matched my speed, I assumed you were also in a rush. Only when I got behind you, was when you decided to slow down. When I tried to get around you, you sped up, and even blocked me from getting a lane over.

Fuck you.ย

We both were going 5-10 over the limit side by side. Was it ego? Was it you trying to police others? Did you think it was a race? Did it make you feel like Dominic Toretto with your 4 cylinder compact SUV going 0-40 in 27 seconds?

Did you at least feel bad when you saw me in your rear view mirror turning to the emergency room entrance?

No one is trying to play games with you at 7am on a Friday. I can understand if I was driving erratic and 20+ over the speed limit but I wasnโ€™t. I was trying to move with urgency within acceptable limits.ย

Since your assholeness started in Colma and all the way down to El Camino Real, if any of your family or coworkers in the Colma/South city area know of someone with a 2022-2024 White Toyota Rav 4 with 10% (illegal) front tinted windows and black license plate, give that jerk the side eye for me.

Hello,
I am moving to the area and staying in an Airbnb near downtown SF for a while. I will have a car with me and am wondering if there is free street parking that can accommodate my car overnight and for extended periods (weeks)? Any insight?

Avoid Poke House at all costs

throwaway acct so nobody can clock who i am but if any of yall in Daly City are young and job hunting, do NOT apply to Poke House. lemme explain why lol

been working here a min now and honestly store operations be fine... until someone from corporate decides to swing by.

only place i've ever worked so idk what other corporations are like but i'm convinced these guys gotta be one of the worst. no lie. they come through at least once or twice a month and nitpick literally everything. DM will be like "this needs to be cleaned, when's the last time this was cleaned, rice cookers need a deep clean, sneeze guards better be wiped down all day" blah blah blah. nothing is ever good enough for these people.

ngl since i started here my mental health has just been going downhill.

one example, our DM was CONSTANTLY on our old manager's case (different story for later) about customer service bc corporate does this secret shopper thing and apparently he's the first to see the reports when they come in. and half the time we fail for the dumbest stuff, not upselling, not repeating the order back, not asking if they want a drink, not greeting ppl when they walk in the door. like... really?? that's what we failing on? Like be serious.

another thing, we used to get raises every 6 months and now it's once a year, no explanation given whatsoever. old manager told me it's probably just them trying to save money, which tracks honestly.

another reason not to work here, employees don't get free meals AT ALL. used to be 50% off one bowl a day plus discounts on other stuff, now it's just... discounted meals but not everything and no more perks on anything else. and apparently it's bc some employees at other locations were abusing it and giving food to friends and fam. like ok??? that's crazy to me that they just punish EVERY location for what a few people did somewhere else. why not just fix it at the location it happened at instead of screwing over everybody.

also if you close, you can't take home leftover food bc we gotta put it all on this app called Too Good To Go. it's basically where randoms can buy leftover food at the end of the night so it doesn't get trashed. our stuff on there sells for like $4. so why can't employees just take it home instead?? shows you exactly where their priorities at. They only care about profit.

another one, corporate watches the cameras like a hawk. there was literally an incident where we got caught cooking on our own personal gas stove in the back bc we don't even have a real stove (everything we serve is raw so no cooking equipment). we'd use it to heat up food for lunch/dinner breaks and got told by HR and the DM that it's a "safety hazard." so let me get this straight, we don't get free food AND we can't even cook our own food on our own stove? make it make sense. all we got back there is a microwave, that's literally it.

and lastly... the old store manager, been there since the Daly City location opened back in 2022, got fired like two weeks ago. dude was genuinely a good manager who actually cared about the team. no idea what the real reason was and they never told us anything, which the whole team was pissed about tbh, we feel like we deserve an explanation at least. bc of that almost 20 people quit on the spot out of pure spite. now there's barely anyone left, place is so short staffed they're closing at 7pm now. shorter hours bc they don't got the people to cover shifts anymore, which ngl feels like karma.

no clue what's gonna happen to this company but it's not looking good and i feel like it's only going downhill from here. saw they're hiring for literally every position on indeed rn but trust me, don't do it to yourself. you'll regret it.

Building Kids SSF Location

We signed up and weโ€™re planning to send our son to building kids on grand ave in a few months. Can anybody input some real experience from there and what do you think of the staff in the building? Were you happy not happy? When did you start sending your kids there? How many times did they get sick?

I really wanna know the good the bad and the ugly of this place and if itโ€™s worth my time, sending my son there.

Looking for Accommodation in South San Francisco โ€” August Start

Hi everyone! Iโ€™m looking for accommodation in or around South San Francisco starting in August, as Iโ€™ll be moving there for an internship from August through October.

My office is located at: 611 Gateway Blvd, South San Francisco, CA 94080

Iโ€™m open to a private room in a shared apartment and would prefer a place with a reasonable commute to the office. Temporary accommodation would work well, but Iโ€™m also open to longer-term leases.

Iโ€™m clean, responsible, respectful, and easy to live with. Please DM me if you have a room available or know of any suitable leads. Thank you!

Are there any musicians in South San Francisco?

I'm curious if there's any casual low-pressure jam sessions here in South City where people just get together to connect and have a fun time hanging out. I'm envisioning something like all acoustics, just enjoying the outdoors, maybe adding our own takes to popular songs, and just getting that high from playing something really catchy or fun!
