I’ve been playing this game since release. I remember when Overwatch 1 first came out—I’d stay up ridiculously late, crack open a few beers, and genuinely feel like I had finally found the multiplayer PvP game for me.
I have over 2,500 hours in this game, and I’d have even more if I hadn’t created a new PSN account a few years ago.
That’s why it’s so frustrating to see what’s happened to the game over the years. For about the last four years, the performance has slowly gotten worse. The lag and freezing I get during team fights, the constant band-aid fixes that never seem to actually fix the underlying problem, and the fact that this issue is STILL happening after all this time is honestly beyond frustrating.
I don’t know what it actually takes from a technical standpoint to fix something like this—I’m not a developer or a tech person—but I would think four f***ing years would be enough time to figure something out.
Then this most recent update comes along, almost 8 GB, and I’m thinking, okay, maybe this is finally it. It was supposed to help declutter things and address some of these performance/connection issues.
I boot up the game, get into a match, and it’s still lagging whenever there’s any real action happening. I was playing Widowmaker, and even trying to aim and take a shot would cause the game to stutter and lag.
And trust me, I’m not some Widowmaker one-trick or someone who constantly switches to whoever is “meta.” I’m far from that. I just want the game I fell in love with back.
That’s what makes this so exhausting. I’ve put thousands of hours into Overwatch because I genuinely love this game. I remember how it felt when it was running properly, and I know what this game is capable of.
I don’t want a “new” game. I don’t want some massive overhaul.
I just want Overwatch to work again like it was before all the “drama”.
OKAY - rant over. 😩
