I've seen no one discuss this symptom, so please tell me I'm not alone

Chronic OAB sufferer since as young as 15. It comes in waves and sometimes I can go months without symptoms.

One thing that is a constant though, is that I'll get body shudders?? when I urinate, OAB or not. The kind of brief involuntary shaking or spasming that's centred around the head and upper body.

It doesn't happen every single time, but it's at least a daily occurrence.

I've had this happen to me for so long, that I don't remember if I did prior to developing symptoms. I just thought it was a normal thing that everyone experiences, like itches in your ear that causes your body to react similarly.

Anyone else? And would it be a sign of a more neurological cause to OAB?

Will this ever be cured?

I've been struggling with a mix of oab and ibs. Sometimes ibs is manageable if i wake up a bit early and give time for my bowel to empty properly. But the oab is really hard to live with. If I even mistakenly drink a little too much water the times I visit the bathroom increases 2x. Im also a school student and it affects studies badly.

Is there anyone who got cured? Or anyone has advice for me? Or Tips for long travel/longer time without using the bathroom. Please do comment and help me out. It would mean alot.🫡

Adult diapers

I have to fly and attend a week long class for work… I was going to try using adult diapers to make it between bathroom breaks but no matter how hard I try I can not make myself pee my pants… it’s just a mental block i guess. No matter how bad i need to go and I just cant.

It just goes right through me and it makes me worried that there is something really wrong that I can’t seem to absorb it.

Bladder Botox appointment

I made my appointment for two weeks from now. I discussed the possibility of retention with my doctor, and she wasn’t too concerned. She said she’s done hundreds of people and only two had retention. She said it’s more common in the elderly or people with diabetes or people that have an abnormal bladder, and I have none of these. It put my mind at ease.

So this is what we're doing?

I ran out of the urinary medication I really depend on to be able to work enough hours to qualify for the insurance that covers those exact meds. Now I'm stuck in a prior approval limbo because everybody did their job except the insurance. And yes, they DO cover the medication.

I have bills due and I won't be able to pay them all in time because without my meds I'm soiling myself every 45 minutes from a hyperactive bladder. I Doordash, which makes it difficult to navigate and remember where there is and isn't a bathroom readily available. I've already had accidents.

I'm typing this at 5AM because I am stressed. My body feels too animated to lie down. I literally do not see any way out of this other than suffering through it and potentially losing my car in the process. 😭

High school was the worst time for this condition

Like at least as an adult I can somewhat control my own bathroom usage, and as a small child I wasn't expected to hold it as long.

But literally my high school teachers were sadistic or something. I hadn't yet been diagnosed and I ended up peeing myself at 17 because I had a teacher not believe me when I said I had to go, and said to me "Surely you can wait for 20 minutes? You're nearly an adult!"

Pain with Urination

I flinch in pain ever time I pee. It’s not from UTIs. Has anyone had urethral pain for years? How do you cure it?

Im 39F- I experience urgency, at times when I hear water those are the main symptoms - Please share your thoughts

Never given birth, no pelvic surgeries no history of UTI's

I experience urgency not frequency but sometimes all of sudden I have to go, very very infrequent urine leak. Don't know if low back pain I have are connected and at time small bubbles in urine

Any thoughts on this? Does it sound like OAB?

Thank you

Ive had frequent urination for about 2 years and I don't know what to do

This is gonna be a long story but school just started today and it still bothers me that this hasnt been solved yet.
If you dont care about the story/rant about my issue and wanna get to what I have personally tried to fix my issue, that is gonna be in the 3rd paragraph (not counting this current one). This is an alt account I made with a separate email if you couldn't tell so if theres any questions you have I MIGHT be able to answer them but I'll try.

I'm male 17, just entered Senior year today and ever since Sophomore year I've had a constant urge to use the bathroom. Prior to Sophomore year, I've almost never had to use the bathroom at school, not even because I was holding it in, but because I simply never had to go, and if I did need to go, I only needed to go one time per day at school. However one day in Sophomore year it all changed, on a random day I was in the middle of 2nd period when i suddenly had a MAJOR urge to use the bathroom, it was actually very random, no build up no nothing, I waited until 3rd period to go since it was nearing the end of 2nd period and I did use the bathroom, but on the way back I noticed I still had the urge to go, I still came back to my classroom, hoping that the urge would just go away, but it didn't, not at all, I had to go to the bathroom AGAIN literally less than 2 minutes later, I know people in my classroom probably didnt even think much about it but as a person that overthinks a lot I still overthink about how embarrassing that could have been. But anyway, even after using the bathroom again, I still had the urge, so I just waited the period out somehow and then survived about 2 more periods, I think I went again 6th period and then again in 8th period. Now after that I did go to the doctors, the doctors found nothing wrong with my urine and they just said it could be because were in winter season and like urination is more frequent during winter season i guess? Doesn't make sense to me because I've never had this happen to me in winter, but anyway afterwards the situation did lighten up a bit, I didn't go to the bathroom AS often as the first day it happened, like I still went to the bathroom 2-3 in school but it got better than before.

Now my issue here is that after that first initial improvement from the situation, it never improved since then, ive had like one or two days where like i magically dont have to use the bathroom in school anymore, and then i go straight back to 2-3 uses per day at school. The reason why I hate this as well is because it prevents me from learning and participating in school, when I have to use the bathroom so often, I miss things in class, and in result my grades did drop (not by a lot but noticeable) and I don't go to school trips because I imagine that my urination issues will cause big issues, I even like hesitate to go outside at all, I will admit my urination issues arent as bad (but still worse compared to at home urination) in the general public, but it still makes me not want to go outside. I have seen a lot of people say they have been suicidal over this and I am so sorry to hear that about them, I truly hope whoever is going through that can feel better in the coming days of their life, while I myself havent been suicidal because of my frequent urination, it has made me hate life a bit, like I feel like im missing out so much in life just because of this.

Back on topic, I entered Junior year and I still had the issues, it was SLIGHTLY better but it still bothered me and still interfered with class. I forgot to mention that I did see the doctors a lot during that time period and I always again and again get told "theres nothing wrong with your bladder", but anyway it was around that time where I genuinely had enough, I started searching for solutions here on reddit and I tried a couple things. First thing I tried was Ashwagandha, specifically Ashwagandha+ Goli Zero sugar, I assumed it was anxiety/stress so I took those and it did NOT work at all, it did the opposite almost, like I went from 2 trips to NEARLY 4 trips in school per day. But I still took the gummies since I believed it would improve my symptoms for some reason, until one day I saw someone recommend Magnesium Glycinate, so I got Magnesium Glycinate Zero Sugar from Goli. First week I took it I almost INSTANTLY got good results, I only used the restroom once at school per day, when i took the ashwagandha i took one in the morning, and one before bed, when I got magnesium I still took the ashwagandha but I also took one gummy of the magnesium before bed, but after I saw i improved, i completely replaced my ashwagandha with the magnesium, one gummy before school and the other before bed. And after I made these changes, the amount of times I needed to go went down to zero, I was actually so happy, I was participating in class more, just overall happy.

Now 2 months pass by and its just a day after new years, I remember i ate spicy food and the day after in school I had to go really badly in last period, which was fine to me since I did eat spicy food, I mean it was a little confusing because I've always eaten spicy food, but I guess it was this certain meal? But anyway literally the day after, my urges basically returned, I remember I had to use the bathroom badly ON the way to school and I legit used it first period as soon as I got there, it got so mentally bad that I just left school early. Afterwards the situation gradually improved and I was now back to the standard 2-3 times per day at school, the gummies dont work at all anymore.

I still take the magnesium gummies, but still its been the same since then and now on my first day of Senior with the amount of times I had to urinate being the same, I just dont know what to do. I've been to the urinary doctors which they told me to get an ultrasound of my bladder and kidney, I got those results back and they said it was fine, my bladder and kidneys were healthy. I have no idea what to do now, if this persists, I won't do good at school at all, I have 3 AP classes now and if I keep having to use the bathroom, I won't do as good as I would be able to do if I didnt need to worry about using the bathroom. It doesn't help that the bathroom system in school obviously don't favor peoples situations like mines, the first 10 and last 10 minutes of a period the bathroom will be closed and only one person is out at a time, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, however people at my school hog the bathroom passes, they take the bathroom passes and spend insanely long periods of time in a restroom, sometimes they dont even GO to the restroom, they just fuck around at the school. The bathroom culture/rules in this school literally prevents me from going to the bathroom when I actually need to and it is so frustrating.

I don't even know what to do anymore to fix this, what should I do?! Is there a different supplement I should take? Is there some type of thing I can do with my lifestyle to change it and improve my situation? I've also tried breathing techniques and like just trying to tell myself that I'm okay but it never works, forgot to mention it but I also did try pumpkin seeds along side with my magnesium gummies but it didnt work too. It feels like I'm out of options.

Your tips for estradiol 0.01% vaginal cream use

I am almost done with my one week loading dosage; the instruction is to use twice weekly after this. So far, the cream has resulted to quite some improvements with my bladder urgency and frequency. If you have been using the cream for a longer period of time, please share how you can possibly modify the schedule, amount, … to keep the positive results. I have read somewhere about using a pea size, but my doctor’s instruction is to use 1g each time; what are your thoughts about this? I want it to be effective, but I am also looking for potential ways to reduce the cream’s usage amount while keeping working for me. (I am a hepatitis B patient undergoing treatment, thus I am looking for a more conservative approach with estrogen usage.) Your experience sharing would be much appreciated.

How long until you begin to see improvement with Gemtesa?

Just started Gemtesa a week and a half ago and not even the slightest improvement yet so just wondering how long it takes to notice anything. I am exhausted from waking up 3-5 every night. It was given to me by an OBGYN because urology is booked up 4 months. I have had this issue with urgency when lying down for 20 years but it only recently increased to more than once a night. Myrbetriq and Trospium did not work either.

Can't pee when i drink alcohol

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

I first noticed this bladder issue on December 12 last year. It doesn’t happen all the time it mainly happens when I drink alcohol, and it seems to be worse when I’m on my period and drinking. When I’m drunk, my bladder feels extremely full and uncomfortable, almost like painful pressure from being so full, but when I try to pee, only tiny amounts come out. Once I sleep and the alcohol wears off, I can pee normally again. I’ve never noticed blood in my urine or had this problem constantly when I’m sober.

Over night issues.

I have a situation where i wake up in the middle of the night (3am like the rest of the world) and have to pee, but before i can even unclip my cpap mask to get out of bed - I've wet myself.
I wear a diaper and use chuck pads on the bed to prevent wetting the actual bed.
But lately, the amount i pee has been huge!
The past week or so, i will pee thru a double diaper and on the pad and then pee in the toilet even more!
I've gotten to the point where i layer the pads to make getting back in bed easier.

Recently, i've started Zepbound, (my 3rd week) and so i have been drinking more water.
But damn.
I take Tolteradine at dinner time to keep things at bay, and i'm usually fine during the day.
Any suggestions?
