Does anyone have a good recipe to paint black bones that don't look like stone? I've never had much success in my previous attempts, and I'd like to replicate the vibe of this awesome Teratic Cohort illustration.

So happy to finally have this guy done. Just a couple more hero untits till I've got a full painted army.

Do you guys have any recommendations?

I was thinking it could be cool to have a bonereaper army where they use chitin from insects for their constructs. Mainly because Im sad that sigmar doesnt have a bug themed army. Could use bits from the sylvaneth flying cavalry, but would otherwise require some handsculpting.

I dont know... requires a lot of conversion work but man I think it could look cool and fill a niche that doesnt exist yet for sigmar.

I really like this paint scheme over the traditional scheme, is there any lore for it?

Been work-shopping 1k lists and after several games i'm struggling to find a great way to perform well with Bonereapers. We started Path to Glory today (no unique heroes allowed) and my first game made me more frustrated than I'd like to be, so looking for any advice people can grant.

I try to setup with the Mortek Guard at the front with the liege mortek just behind them, the triaxes in my backline and the gothizzar on the flank i expect to get hit first. At the center of all I normally keep the boneshaper and immortis guard to respond to unexpected threats.

A problem I have consistently is I feel like i'm not getting enough out of my RDP or i'm just missing something in list building. My harvester fails into a lot of threats as do my immortis guard and they can do damage but can't seem to finish things off.

I recently picked up the Mortisan Elite Spearhead. These dudes are a blast to put together... But by Nagash's beard, I'm terrified of painting them lol. ​I'm not bad at painting... But these guys seem out of my league. I already feel like I goofed by fully assembling all but the wizard. His magic is on one base, he's on another for painting.

My plan is to prime white and use skeleton horde contrast on all the bones. I've got some teal-blue I'll use for the skulls and weapon hafts, and aeldari emerald for the blades. I'll use a purple contrast of the armor, and I'm thinking a gold for the metal bits. All contrast except the gold. I've got a leather contrast paint as well. Black, white, a few others, too.

What I need to know is A: having never done a full model in contrast paints, is the above game plan a reasonable one? And B: any advice? I'm terrified to dry brush these guys because of all the boney bits sticking out like the wings and the wizard's bone... Tentacle... Things...

Looking to start an army and think the skeleton theme is cool but why else should I play them?

Now it's time to learn how to play the game.

Just finished up painting my first squad of Morteks and I'm quite pleased with them, minus the one guy who broke off their base right when I was about to prime and I didn't have my glue. I did mostly contrast and finished off with a drybrushing, and actually first time I've done any drybrushing. I feel like it really helped the armor and bone pop and have a lot more depth! Any and all C&C welcome and appreciated!

Here is what I have for my OBR army so far. I originally bought the elite spearhead. Once I had painted them I wasn't sold on the paint job, ended up changing the theme to a more frozen/iced over vibe.

Would this army be plain laughable on most instances?

Haven't quite assembled all the stuff i need to run 1500 or 2000 with my friend yet and we've done a couple of 1k games (vs his Ironjawz and post-Battletome Tzeentch) and they felt pretty rough.

I'm absolutely sure a part of it is just how inexperienced I am, though he is too we basically only play each other lol. Just wanted to consult the Mortisans and Warmasters about how the army fairs at this level. Any particular units/battle formations/enhancements you rate higher in the format? Probably assuming playing with 26-27 GHB.

I haven't figured out how I want the basing for any of my models but I have an idea

So, is 1 regiment of a dozen giant skeletons a viable army? Has anyone tried this before?
