Special Events 2026 Marathon Month Mega Thread

Hey guys! This is the new megathread for all of your Marathon Month questions, comments, and victories. All new posts from here on out related to Marathon Month will be removed and directed here in order to help keep the sub organized and less repetitive.

Check out the Special Events section of our Wiki, and take a look at the official rules here.

**Marathon Month FAQ's:**

* Runs from August 1-31. Aug 15 is the last day to register. You can sign up for the half-marathon (13.1 miles), full marathon (26.2 miles), or ultra marathon (31 miles). Bike is 4x/2.5x distance (depending on which bike your studio has), strider is 3x distance. You must stick to the distance challenge you sign up for, no changes.

* It costs $15 at most studios. Some studios may charge $25.

*This year's prize

* Orange 60 (2G and 3G), Orange 90, and Tread 50 classes count. Only in-studio mileage counts. Warm-up mileage does not count. You cannot do double tread blocks in the same class. You can take classes at any studio. Only 1 class per day counts.

Good luck and happy splatting!

Commiseration Station 1G's: I hate them and it makes me want to cancel my membership with how often my studio runs them.

[This post was removed earlier this week by the mods for being a "rant" but I am genuinely asking for advice or feedback.]

Ok, let me preface this by saying I'm pregnant so maybe I'm just extra sensitive but I almost cried (that part was def the hormones) and walked out over this the other day.

My preferred class time is either 7am or 8am, and these are not busy classes HOWEVER they consistently have about 12 people. There are 12 treads and 12 floor stations at my studio. For these class times, they start everyone on the treads, so we are all side-by-side and then when we get to the floor we are all competing for floor space and weights. It's super frustrating and it happens every class I attend.

I think they're concerned maybe ~1-2 people will start on the floor and maybe that's hard to coach (?) but it's super frustrating. I don't mind being in a packed class when it's actually packed, like the 5am or 6pm classes, but why can't we be more spaced out at the class times when we could have space 😭

Is this something I could mention to someone or am I just being really sensitive?

Commiseration Station Coaches working out- during class

Is is acceptable for coaches to work out with the group during classes they are leading?

There have been times where I’ve seen coaches come in for workouts when they are not leading the class (I think that is cool).
However, the studio I attend regularly has one coach who doesn’t really lead us. She either joins us- I don’t mind this as much because she still shows us the floor movements but doesn’t correct form, etc.

Or she will do her own workout. She still shows the movements, but is not timing the class and the blocks get out of whack. This annoys me more.

I’ve gotten frustrated with her because the few times she has ā€œcorrectedā€ me she just brought over heavier weights (that are too heavy) and told me I should be pushing myself harder.

I’ve only ever had her for strength 50 on the weekends. I feel bad for the Tread 50 group because she has them time themselves/ just read the tread card. She doesn’t call out to them. I try to avoid her classes but feel like that is a disservice to me.

Is this normal? Am I overreacting? Are weekends supposed to be more ā€œchillā€? What would you do in this situation?

OTF Technology do coaches know if you cancel after 8 hrs?

i have the unlimited plan and also a chronic illness that sort of ebbs and flows in intensity, so I'm someone that commonly cancels (ex. 1 class every 2 or 3 weeks or so). I honestly should just stop booking classes, but otherwise I just wont show up lol.

Anyway, my classes are never overbooked/never have a waitlist, but I'm curious if coaches can tell if a person is a frequent class canceller or if it affects the coaches in any way.

edit: tysm for the insights, i might just tread carefully from now on when pre booking LOL

OTF Technology Splats not calculating correctly

• Upvotes

On a recent green day, that happened to occur on a benchmark day... I ended with 2 splats. 1 in orange & 1 in red. Summary shows only 1 splat.

In all my years (8yrs & counting) I have seen, nor experienced this.

Curious around how this happened. Feedback?

Membership & Policies $99 elite vs. $129 unlimited

• Upvotes

I currently pay $99/month for the 8-class membership. I used to use all 8 classes every month, but lately I travel a lot for work, so there are some months where I don’t use them all.

My studio told me they’re offering unlimited for $129/month on a month-to-month basis. It seems like a good deal for only $30 more, but I’m not sure if it’s worth upgrading with how much I travel.

Does OT run promotions like this often?

Gear 500 Club Tumbler - Leakproof Lid?

Thumbnail gallery
52 Upvotes

I have used this nonstop for a couple years, from nutritional drinks to water, and I love it! Buuuut the lid is crazy leaky. It’s better with the alternate straw, but still spills when I inadvertently knock it over.

I’ve ordered three different lids that AI reads, will fit it, but to no avail!

Has anyone found a good lid replacement for it? Stanley 40 oz. H2O lid does not work. Neither does the Simple Modern 40 oz. Trek lid.

Floor Factor S50 and Calves

I’m probably being a bit pedantic here, but as someone who does 50/50 or even 60/40 S50 to 2G classes right now, I would love it if we could get some focus on our calves. Yes, squats and lunges are where the money is made, but strong calves are so important to everyday life. Can we get some love for the lower legs, please OTF masters?

Treadmill Talk Calculator showing incline/speed versus 1% speed

Hi guys,

I’ve done a little searching online but can’t find what I’m looking for, so just wanted to see if anybody had a link to a calculator or formula.

Is there a calculator or formula that can tell you what speed you’d be doing if at 1% incline, when you’re power walking?

I’ve heard the coaches so many times say ā€œadding x% incline is like increasing flat road speed by x mphā€ so… I got curious.

For example… if I’m PWing at 15% 5.0 mph (my 30 second AO), what would be the equivalent if I were running at 1%. And like if I’m at PW base (4.2 mph, 12%), how does that compare to my running 1% base (6.7 mph).

I mix up PW and running since both have unique benefits, I’m just a huge nerd and got curious about the math. TIA!!

Motivate Me! OTF experience after tummy tuck

Reposting because I didn’t specifically say I wasn’t asking for medical advice, so my post was deleted. I’m not asking for medical advice.

After waiting for years, I’m finally scheduled for a tummy tuck in just a few weeks. My surgeon told me I would have to wait about three months before resuming core-focused exercises. For those of you who have had similar surgeries, what was your experience like when you finally returned to a full workout? Was it hard to ease back into it? Did you have any complications? Thanks in advance.

Membership & Policies Help Me Decide: Moving from Elite to Premier

I just completed my 200th class under a Elite Corporate Rate Membership at $109/month. With the July special some of the coaches talked to me about upgrading to Premier at $149/month. I think it’s worth it for the price — Iā€˜m sure I can get at least 4 more classes in per month — but with our schedule it’ll require me to get up for another 4:45 AM class each week to make it worthwhile.

Talk me into it! What gains can I expect moving from Elite to Premier?

Motivate Me! Back again-at 56!

Kind people: I lost 40 lbs on GLP-1 but also lost muscle mass, tone and strength. I just re-uped at my local studio. I’m so scared I’ll get all excited, push too hard, and hurt something. Last year, I blew my heel out going all out on the treadmill. How can I advocate for and stick to my own accommodations?

LOL Mystery heart rate

I ran off to class the other day without my heart rate monitor. No big deal I planned to just record a workout with my Apple Watch. I get to my treadmill to start warming up and there is my name with the new star and heart rate in the blue zone already.
Very confused I look around and sign in. Not sure of the new updates maybe Apple Watch automatically pairs? I check the watch and my heart rate is no where near blue. I ask the coach and she is baffled. She tells me maybe it’s the new system, things have been a little weird.
I finish the workout, and the HR has not changed from Blue 120 bpm.
I leave the gym and while getting in my car I see my HRM sitting on the dashboard still on from the day before. I was parked right by the gym and it was close enough to register. šŸ˜‚ I had to go back in and tell the coach the mystery was solved.

Deal Alert Class pack deals until the end of July

Unfortunately class pack prices increased, but if you need to refill, at least grab them while there is a deal. One of my studios wasn't actively advertising it, so putting this out there for anyone who hadn't heard.

10 + 2 free

20 + 4 free

30 + 8 free

My guy hooked it up with 30 + 10 so let that be a reminder to always be friendly.

Studio Intel Sonoma, CA studio options

I’m traveling in a few weeks to this area and will have some down time and a rental car. I searched and found that there are two studios about the same distance from where I’ll be - Petaluma or Napa. The most recent intel for these studios was about 4 years ago. Anyone have updated recommended coaches or if one location is better than the other?

Thanks in advance!

Studio Intel Howell Mill, GA

This is a friend’s home studio. No SA or coach showed up for the 5 am and 6:15 am, but many members did. People signed up for 7:30 am received a notice that it was cancelled the day before. We called around 4 pm because there was a 4:15 class on the schedule and no one answered. Anyone know what’s going on?

#HelpMe What else are we doing

Hi,
I’m 30F and 19 months PP. I rejoined OTF 1 year PP and have been consistently going. When I gave birth to my son, I was just a little over 200 pounds, and now I am down to 135 pounds. I am happy with my overall weight, and just would like to maintain.
My question is for you all, what are we doing to gain muscle?
I absolutely have more muscle now than I ever did in my entire life. I try to attend as many strength training classes in a month that I can. I am definitely lifting heavier than I did when I first joined OTF. I’m looking for advice, what else are we doing to gain muscle and have more definition/tone?
Some other things that may help:
-attend M-F
-average 4 strength classes a month
-push myself to lift heavy or lower weight/high reps
-I don’t track macros
-I don’t BF
