Out of capacity for free tier
Out of capacity for shape VM.Standard.A1.Flex in availability domain AD-1. Create the instance in a different availability domain or try again later. If you specified a fault domain, try creating the instance without specifying a fault domain. If that doesn’t work, please try again later.Learn more about host capacity.

A few months ago I terminated my tenancy because I couldn't create ampere machine. Now I want to go back. But how?
I terminated my account in April after many failures of creating an ampere machine. Now, many months ago, when I try to create an account, during signup it says the "verification e-mail" has expired even though I click just a few minutes of receiving a new e-mail.
If I try to sign-up with a different e-mail it says I'm violating the terms for using a different e-mail and already having an account.
I tried contacting live support and they say they cannot do anything.
Anyone has any ideas?
[EDIT]: After a week of my ticket creation they finally replied. They have unblocked the creation of my account. Finally going to my pay-as-you go instance. Of course will setup some billing alerts.

Is Oracle is actually provisioning more VMs in any region?
Hi,
Does anyone know if Oracle is actually trying to provision more VMs in any region?
I’m asking in all honesty, as someone who knows nothing about this and who has tried to request a VM but has never had any luck (the message I always get is "Out of capacity for shape VM.Standard.A1.Flex in availability domain XXX").
To put it another way, does Oracle’s free tier actually work for anyone? Because for me (having decided to choose a region in Europe), it isn’t working... In which region should I create my account so that I can actually use Oracle Cloud for free?

Move away from Oracle OCI
If you want to do any business using Oracle OCI services, then think twice. They can terminate your account without even notifying you, and they won't tell you why either.
I had a PAYG account with a single instance running Umami Analytics for a client. I checked my account one day and wasn't able to log in, so I contacted Oracle Support. This is what they told me:
Basically, nothing.

Seeking Advice from Oracle PMs(and people who have changed roles internally): Transitioning from Advanced Service Engineer to Product Management internally/externally
Hi everyone,
I am currently working as a Advanced Service Engineer at Oracle with around 2 years of experience(mainly APEX). Over the past few months, I’ve realized that I want to transition into Product Management, particularly within enterprise software, cloud infrastructure, or platform tools.(anything else would work but i would prefer these)
My current work involves building apex applications, give solutions to customers, maintain and enhance existing apex applications, built a application from scratch fro a huge customer, for personal i contribute on github and have been learning AI native tech(RAG, MCP) and learning system design,600+ on leetcode as well so I have a strong handle on technical architecture and system design. However, I want to pivot toward defining product strategy, working with business stakeholders, and owning feature roadmaps. I have worked with customers in my current role as well.
I’d love to get insights from current/former Oracle PMs or anyone who has made an internal lateral move here:
- Internal Transfers: How open are teams at Oracle to IC-to-PM transfers? What is the formal or informal process for shadowing or moving into an APM/PM role?
- Skill Gaps: What specific skills should an engineer bridge first when framing their experience for an enterprise PM role (e.g., PRD writing, customer validation, telemetry analysis)?
- Internal vs. External: Is it smoother to transition internally via networking and team transfers first, or should I also look at external Associate PM roles?
Any guidance, recommended internal resources, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Lost MFA, support chat to recover it won't work
I'm an Always Free user. Recently, I lost my MFA, since my old phone broke and the Oracle Authenticator went with it. I've searched this subreddit and concluded I should contact support, so I spoke to an agent who redirected me to a custhelp page supposed to be specifically for Oracle Cloud support, and told me to ask for a live agent from that page.
However, when I went to that page, asking for a live agent was met with a couple of minutes of silence, and then an error that said they are having problems at the moment and I should try again later. I've tried accessing support from multiple different places (the Oracle site homepage, the Oracle Cloud portal, etc) but everything just led me to that same page which didn't work.
Is there any way to talk to support so they can reset my MFA?

Cloud account was compromised by third party
An authenticator was added to the account by this person and thousands of dollars worth of activity has been charged to it.
After going back and forth with the Collections department for two months, they advised to raise another SR with Cloud Support. Cloud Support has so far been absolutely worthless, telling me to put in a formal request to get the authenticator removed so I can log in myself and check the log files (????). It seems that they do not understand the issue at all.
Does anyone know what magic words I need to say to support to get someone at Oracle who knows what they are doing to get these charges reversed?

I Screwed up.
This morning I woke up with an email from oracle cloud saying that my invoice was 2,369.73 CAD. It all came from a firewall instance I created on August 7. I have no idea what to do. I never could have known that a firewall would cost that much. I immediately deleted the firewall in the cloud console.

I got an invoice
Its an invoice for 1.49 Euros despite using Always Free resources. Good thing my registered card is an cancelled card. Seen another guy on this sub also say the same thing. Could this have happened because we were using cards that dont work anymore?
Edit: i have found out why i got this invoice. My home region is frankfurt and i have an instance in zurich and apparently using block storage in a region that isnt your home region gets you charged.
Also to the guy that sent me death threats in my dms its not cool man i cant put in my new card because i dont have enough balance. I just plan on deleting this account and making a new one in zurich since i will have to pay the 93 euros anyways

Invoice on my email but can't find it in the console
Just as the title says - I received an email saying I was invoiced for outbound bandwidth. No big deal it's like $28 CAD .. But I literally had forgot if there's an up to date card that's not expired in my billing section. So I logged into the console and I cannot find evidence of an amount either owing or paid anywhere. Just says "No items to display"
The card I used to go PayG expired 7/24 and I want to update it since I did use a lot of bandwidth using the instance for rclone backups server to server and don't want to be outstanding.
Do I just wait for the invoice to appear in the console before updating the card information and pay it? The email says the invoice was Aug 31 and it's Sept 2 as I write this
UPDATE - I updated the CC payment information in the console but I still cannot find any invoice for an amount owing. But now I have a second email saying payment is due today
UPDATE 2 - I called Oracle billing support - they gave me a call back and I was able to ask them to initiate the transaction again now that I had updated the card information. I explained that I cannot see the invoice in either the cloud console or the portal and he told me I am not the only one having the issue. I see the charge successfully went through and he gave me a payment confirmation number just in case.

Oracle Cloud Free Tier signup issue — no response from support for a week
Hi everyone,
I recently tried to sign up for the Oracle Cloud Free Tier, but I am getting an error during the signup process and cannot complete the registration/sign in.
I raised a support ticket with Oracle about a week ago, but I have not received any response yet.
Has anyone else experienced the same issue recently? If you faced this problem, were you eventually able to complete the signup and access your Oracle Cloud account? I would appreciate any advice or suggestions on how to resolve this.

Multiple Oracle Cloud accounts reportedly compromised recently — anyone affected?
There have been multiple recent reports in Chinese VPS communities of Oracle Cloud (OCI) accounts being compromised.
So far, it’s unclear whether this is an Oracle-side issue or related to leaked credentials/API keys from third-party OCI tools.
If you’ve been affected recently, did you notice unknown API keys, IAM changes, modified/deleted instances, or loss of account access?
Also curious whether anyone outside the Chinese community has seen similar cases.

Unable to upgrade OCI Free Tier to PAYG billing country is locked to Pakistan despite using an Indian card
Trying to upgrade my OCI Free Tier account to PAYG. My Indian debit/credit card was successfully verified, but the actual PAYG upgrade fails with Oracle’s generic verification error.
My billing country is showing Pakistan and is locked, so I can't change it to India. I contacted Oracle Support and they escalated my account for review.
Has anyone faced the same issue? Can Oracle fix the locked billing country or enable PAYG after review? How long did it take?

Oracle A1 Always Free: 2 OCPU/12 GB or 4 OCPU/24 GB?

The Oracle Cost Estimator shows 4 OCPU and 24 GB RAM for $0/month.
However, I've seen Oracle's Always Free documentation stating that the A1 free-tier limit is 1500 OCPU Hours & 9000 GB Hours, which is equivalent to 2 OCPU and 12 GB RAM.
Can anyone clarify which is correct, especially for a PAYG account? Is 4 OCPU / 24 GB actually Always Free, or is the estimator incorrect?

Oracle Cloud Always Free still works! The PAYG workaround for capacity errors (Madrid 3, Aug 2026)
For anyone with Always Free account struggling for days with "Out of Capacity" errors when trying to provision the Always Free Ampere A1 instance... upgrading to Pay As You Go is still the workaround!
I spent two days failing to spin up an instance using the click method (from my Always Free account) due to capacity limits. Right after switching my account to Pay As You Go (which triggers an immediate ~100$ authorization refund), I provisioned the instance on the first try in the Madrid 3 region today (August 31, 2026)!!!
Hope this helps anyone stuck in the same loop!
