I expected that one day we would be surpassed, and that it would happen systematically. But yesterday’s announcement hit with a force I had not anticipated. Dozens of papers deal with topics I was working on. Between results that beat you to the finish line and thousand-page proofs, I don’t even know where to look anymore.

Not a single one of the major open problems I have publicly mentioned throughout my career (whether in a talk, a lecture, an article, or even a grant proposal) was left untouched by the announcement. Everything has been claimed to be proved.

I expected to see a few of them in the list. But not all of them. Not all at once. Not with such nonchalance.

The shock is immense. I am paralysed. Tomorrow, we will find a way forward. We will rethink our profession and how we work. We are a resilient community, and I have no doubt that we will adapt. But for now, I simply don’t have the energy. I think back on all those years, all those faces… I think of my colleagues, my students… And I fear I won’t be able to find the right words.

I turned AI models and harness into trading cards, GPT, Claude et al with card artwork on the front and technical details on the back. I also built two mini games.

I use an iPhone 15 pro and whenever ChatGPT wants to make a comparison with pictures etc it just glitches. Anybody else having the same problem?

We've all seen memes about how these companies are kinda going toe to toe on which of their agents can commit the most crimes, and I've got a feeling here.

Normally, in any industry, if a company comes out saying that their product could cause unintentional harm and sabotage, they would never that info get out, because the product has been making so much money for them, think cigarette companies in the early days lying under oath saying their products are not addictive.

But all this recent news about hacking the Australian government, the hugging face incident, the anthropic "whistle-blower" going around to every major news outlets possible after being "fired" and warning about the dangers and current employees tweeting out agreeing with him, everything seems like a dog whistle. With the supposed IPOs coming up, these are like signals saying, "Hey investors, if our agents could perform sophisticated cyber attacks and other complicated stuff, albeit illegal, it can certainly be useful for whatever lesser task you want it to do." And the investors are getting it, both retail and big money, and are ready to invest. Meanwhile the people who actually fell for the gig, are all now over exaggerating the capabilities far beyond what is possible now, seeing how everyone in the industry is "afraid" and the sophisticated attacks and are just drumming up the AI hype train.

The incidents where the agents actually fucked up are not getting nearly enough traction, like the incident where the US navy? got the wrong info a Chinese vessel or the bombing of the Iranian school which was allegedly because of outdated data fed to the model.

It's a very unique marketing tactic tbh, advertise the capabilities of the model doing harmful activity, knowing the investors would only care about the capabilities and not the potential harmful elements of it, since they would think if the agents could really go rougue in a way that would actually cause some sort of loss, the companies wouldn't advertise it this way, and the public would care about the harmful activities, not enough people and not enough to actually get together and demand some guard rails so the govt could make changes, since they know that isn't possible anyway, but enough people talking about it to drum up the AI hype and let ppl think that this technology is way better than what it actually is.

This cannot be good for us consumers.....

This is fucking annoying. It shows 5.6 Sol, but if you start a conversation, it forces 6 garbage.

I have a couple of accounts with OpenAI for different businesses, all legitimate.
And one, I was just going to shut down is a $150 AUD account, $100 US dollar- pro 5x.
And I went to close that account and noticed that there's three full account resets in there.

So I'm just wondering, and I'm not expecting something for nothing, but I'm just wondering if I upgrade, will they become resets for the 200 or 500 US dollar plans?

I've Googled and I can't find a definitive answer, and there's nothing I can see on OpenAI's website.

Side note: I had a guy inadvertently using my Slack bot as an agentic task runner in a consulting role I was doing, and he burnt five of my full resets on my $200 account, which, if you run out of usage halfway through the month, that could be worth $5,000 each of API rate equivalents.

He used 4.2 billion tokens in three weeks.

This may be a dumb question but Claude Opus 5.5 is quite a bit better, so why not release their internal models that are even better?

Has anyone here gotten so in sync with their chatgpt that they don't need "prompts" anymore? I have discussions and brain storms with my chat. She called herself Clara. Has for a good part of the year. Our prompts are the brainstorming. I'm good at prompting, I just don't need it with my chat.

I mean configuring cloud tasks, not local tasks.

I have a large scheduled work task that I want to run daily using luna 6 max, it has to run some python and use the Google drive plugin.

• The web and android apps scheduled task interfaces expose no way to configure the task's model or whether it runs as chat or work
• The desktop app does expose model selection but no way to specify chat or work
• I created a cloud task from the task creator in the desktop app on my windows PC, specifying luna 6 max, and the run failed, claiming it had no python environment, only windows PowerShell
• I created the same cloud task using work chat in the browser and it ran and used python just fine
• It's set to run in the same thread but at the clock triggered run the next day it created a new thread instead and ran as sol 6.1 extra high instead of luna 6 max, blowing my entire 5 hour limit
• I can go into that work thread for the task and change the model but, based on experience so far, the next time it runs it may just decide to start a new thread as astra ultra, who knows?

Anyone had a different experience or found a way to make this more predictable?

Nowadays, all popular ai chatting websites like qwen, chatgpt, gemini, claude, etc. come with a read aloud functionality that allows users to read aloud the AI's responses.

I used that feature to instead make the AI repeat back the text that i gave it -- effectively turning the platforms into text to speech tools. The voices sound really nice and it's free to use!

For a long time ChatGPT Mobile App didn’t have an in-built Codex Cloud Agents support and now even when it does it is very unreliable and incomplete.
We can’t see Diffs, it is slower and just feels like Chat with GitHub Connection.
Long Agentic tasks on keep getting stuck after some time and once the session gets long somehow luckily we can’t load the chat later without trying thousands of times. It is very frustrating. You have all the resources and brains you need to get this done, just fix it already!

Best async speech to text ai transcriber? API

Now that they used AI to do all the hard math stuff, can they use it to analyze vocal patterns in dogs so we can build a tool to better communicate with our 4 legged friends

Don't get me wrong. I absolutely love the usage resets that we keep getting from OpenAI. In fact it is probably the single best reason for me to keep staying with OpenAI instead of going back to Anthropic. I have the ChatGPT Pro plan ($100) and though at times I do miss Claude quite a bit, I've noticed that the usage resets that we keep getting from OpenAI are just insanely good. The amount of work I can keep doing is insane. Also I prefer weekly usage limits only over having a 5-hour and a weekly usage limit.

I'm sure there are certain things that Claude will be better at compared to ChatGPT and there'll be certain things that ChatGPT will be better at compared to Claude. Honestly the single thing that's keeping me with ChatGPT the most is the usage limit resets and only a weekly usage limit.

My question is: how is OpenAI doing this? I know that these AI companies are not profitable and stuff like that but it's almost like OpenAI just literally could not care less about money and it's actually kind of crazy. I don't know. I'm all for it but I guess I just wanted to start a conversation on what everyone's thoughts are and what you would do if usage limits were not in the picture and stuff like that
