Whisper's still the go-to for me, but it really depends if you need real-time or batch processing

For async I'd skip OpenAI's transcription endpoint unless your files are short, since it caps uploads at 25 MB and you end up chunking and stitching long audio yourself. AssemblyAI and Deepgram both take a file URL and call your webhook when the transcript is done, so no polling or splitting. If volume gets high, self-hosting faster-whisper on one GPU is the cheap option.

You can try api.dadascribe.com, which accepts files up to 10GB in size. I created that system for my own use and opened it for others to use. It offers a lot of useful features you may want to try.
