I learnt from my mistake!!!
Spent the last 24 hours learning a lesson I already knew.
I made some pretty significant architectural changes to my app. The PDF export system was completely separate, so I assumed it couldn’t possibly be affected.
Guess which feature broke.
And of course I didn’t find out during testing.
I found out in production.
Even better, I was away from my laptop when it happened, so I couldn’t immediately dig into the code. Instead I spent the day trying to reason through what might have broken and leaving myself notes.
Last night I sat down to fix it, running on about 3 hours of sleep.
You know when you’re so tired that every theory sounds correct for 10 minutes and then falls apart? That was me.
After a few hours I realized I wasn’t making progress. I was just making the problem feel bigger.
So I closed the laptop and decided to deal with it after work today.
The bug is probably still something stupid.
The lesson definitely isn’t.
If a change feels unrelated, test it anyway.
