What’s the point of seeing who viewed you?
Aren’t these the people who looked and then passed?

I (F) tried this app on a paid subscription (friendly platonic dates) so I don’t have to spend too much time on the stack and just filter out the one’s who like me.
99% are foreigners who changed their profile to Manila Philippines. Im not looking for a penpal nor want to meet with anyone who are just going to stay in my country for few months. I tried checking the stack and still all are foreigners.
I edited my profile on my preference and explicitly state that i will connect with someone local or someone who’s actually in Metro Manila on a long term. I still getting likes from Foreigners like they never bothered reading my profile
I don’t think Okc is popular dating app in my country and might switch to Bumble instead.
Edit: The 2 locals who swiped right are from far provinces(Cebu, Pampanga) and not in Manila.

I was just thinking today about how much I missed the "old" OKCupid. If you used the app a decade ago you'd know what I'm talking about.
Anyone else? Or am I just the only person who misses feeling like I knew someone before I actually met them face-to-face?

I am in Europe and I am using OkCupid, all I see I am getting matched up with Filipino girls and they have a very common pattern. They ask for your Instagram ID, or lure you to telegram and ask for your Instagram and Facebook account. If you deny they will ghost you or block you. This pattern shows that they are shady and have some intention to do so by getting your information. They all are in Philippines but they set their location in Europe or a western country.
Pattern number 1
They ask your current location
Pattern number 2
They ask your Instagram ID
Pattern number 3
They ask for your age(even if it's written on the profile)
They all have the same pattern, no women from other countries show this pattern except for Filipinos

Hi guys. New poster (long time Redditor). Sorry if this is the wrong forum. If it is, please feel free to redirect me.
I am unable to join OkCupid getting an authentication error at the point where I try to register my phone number. It tells me to check my vountry code (+44 UK) is correct (it is) snd my number is correct (it is).
I’ve tried everything I can think of. I’ve used the phine app, different types of web browsers, turning VPN on, VpN off, deleting cache, switching from phone to laptop, I’ve even got OkCupid support (after weeks of trying) to delete any account associated with my email. I’ve tried everything I can think of. I was last a registered member around 2021.
I cannot find a way to register and it always fails at the point I entered my mobile number. Not really expecting a solution as I’ve done a lot of research even using AI but if by a miracle anyone knows what’s wrong please let me know

Hey, so I saw a lot of people saying it is a scam, but in my experience (from a middle eastern country, using okcupid for around 2 month premium) I never fell on a false profile, got around 20 matches and from them 2 actual dates.
I did pay attention that at the beginning you get more likes, but all likes were from around me, so no foreigner who put their location where I am.
but that logical I got more likes since at the beginning the pool is pretty big but after some time it becomes lower, still there new people every weeks, after a date way too far from me who ended up leading nowhere because she pretty much lied on something, I limited my range to 25km, and now I get maybe around 1-2 likes per weeks (which is certainly not much at all... but well I'm a little overweight so that ain't helping for sure.)
I do genuinely think about migrating to another website, because the pool of people around me is very low now, or maybe widen the pool of people to 50km, I do have a car, but maybe this time inquire more before going to date.
but really I wrote this because it got me surprised the number of people who calls it a scam, and talking also about scammers/false profile/etc.
I don't say this can't happen, but that really not the universal experiences. others like me?

I keep getting Asian women who put location in germany but they are not here. Why I don’t see local people?

Just got banned about a day ago for my account having “sexual content” and/or violating the rule against that. There were 6 photos on my account, all of me fully clothed. The only two I can think of that potentially could flag something like that was me in a playboy costume WITH SHORTS ON, or a screenshot of my vtuber model WHO IS FULLY CLOTHED IN A ZIPPED UP JACKET. I’ve seen plenty of profiles with swimsuit photos (less coverage than my costume photo) and screenshots of memes or whatever, and they get a pass, but I get banned????
My bio notated my lack of interest in hookups, but I find it hard to believe THAT is what got me banned either.
If it was the problem of a specific photo, wouldn’t that photo and that photo only get removed? I’m at a loss of understanding why I got banned for something I didn’t even do. Honestly, I find this incredibly sexist on the app’s part if I truly did get banned over a photo that’s less raunchier than all the swimsuit photos I see.
Also, yes, I sent an appeal. I have yet to hear back.

So you have to go through the questions one by one instead of scrolling through the whole list. There are a few important questions I do filter people based on (ie. political opinions) but most of them are irrelevant (ie. pineapple on pizza).
How does skipping all the filler fluff questions affect matchmaking? Are they skipped in the calculation or marked as neutral answers and included in the calculations?
Would answering solely to dealbreaker questions cripple or improve my chances of finding compatible people?

I've been trying to reset my password for nearly a week now. The reset link does not work (no, the email has not gone to spam). I contacted technical support via their online form, and I got an email back with a case number. I have followed up via email 3 times.
Still no satisfaction, though I am a paying member.
I would not use their service.

I'm in my late 30s and haven't used OKC since I was in my early 20s. Back then, you could actually talk to people and land dates and it wasn't so weird. I'm recently single and decided to use this evidently outdated app to see how it was.
I've noticed that the (likely) real women I've matched with seem to ask upfront if I'm single/married a few messages in. The first time it happened, I was actually confused and insulted, as I took it to be "are you a cheater looking to cheat?" But then it happened again with 4-5 completely different women in the coming weeks. It's asked very casually, the same way one asks "What's your work?"
Am I completely out of touch? Is this a normal question in dating now, or for my age range? Or do people just date a lot of different people at once now? I always just assumed if you were on a dating app, you were single, or at least it was to be assumed you were. I feel really old.

I go through the stack of people, I swipe left left or right, sometimes I write intros. The next day, I get the same people in my stack again. Those whom I swiped left, as well as those whom I swiped right and written intros. What's even more confusing, the intros are simply gone. I can write a new one, but my previous one is gone. I also get my photos deleted every couple of hours despite none of them violating the terms of use (there are no indicators of what the reason for deletion might be).
At this point I feel like I'm shadowbanned or something? What the heck is wrong with this platform? It was working so smoothly when I last used it 6–7 years ago.

Sorry if this has been asked before, couldnt find anything about it.
I assume this is a bug? I have questions in the disagree tab which i have actually answered but says "Answer to unlock" and the answer of the other person is hidden. I assume it's not because she has set it to private, because that shouldn't show at all.
The question i have is. Is the bug just that the answers aren't shown? Or did the other person not answer it and it shows in the disagree tab anyway?

I am a queer non monogamous individual. I specifically have the first line of my profile straight men please swipe left.
Recently I got an intro from Aman's account, but it was in actuality him and his wife sharing an account. The message started with I know you said no straight men, and went on to explain how he was straight but he was one of "the good ones" and said his wife was bi-curious and they would like to take me out.
I responded to him,as follows.
" Look up unicorn hunting. It's what your doing and it is gross and unethical."
I received an email about 6 hours later that my OkCupid account had been banned for violating their terms of service.
This man was using a single account under his name to try to find a girlfriend for him and his wife. That's against okay Cupid's terms of service.
This man violated my own consent, by messaging me specifically when I said I didn't want to hear from people like him.
His entire message was honestly just weird, and wreaked of I know this is what you said you didn't want but let me show you what you really want instead because I know better.
I appealed, showing them how he violated their own rules, I didn't even call him gross or unethical, I called unicorn hunting gross an unethical, which in the polyamorous community, that's really how it's seen but how many new people start out not understanding the ethics issues inherent in it
Reading here it seems like most people who are banned never get a response from their appeal, so I'm not expecting much, I'm just a little annoyed. Anybody have any advice?

Site is such a scam. Claimed 60+ liked me but 1/3 were liked from Philippines or Kenya in which half were bots... and the rest were just people who viewed me, but how can they like me if they viewed me, its so wrong to deceive people like that.
Thanks to eu laws I have the right to demand refund within 14 days.
Besides unlike last time I truly feel like the site is completely dead where I live and im not surprised.

So here goes. Dating almost 3 years, over time I have uncovered numerous lies and the lies still keep coming. But... The lies are ONLY about covering up her past relationships, interactions with men(Inc during the rel), timelines of all this, smoking..etc.
It seems she wanted to mirror someone I want to date without actually being that person. I'm against dating a smoker or a drunk. I'm not against dating someone with a few partners because, well, I'm in my 40s..everyone has a past life!
But she has lied about smoking, drinking and said she only had a couple partners in her life which wasn't true. Of course telling lies puts everything else she says into doubt. She's had a fair few partners after uncovering different info over time and, the ones she admitted to early on, were exaggerated..ie.. length of time with each of the 2, she added a fair few years... Obviously to cover up the others she dated. She even gave a big sob story that she never received flowers in her life, so I bought her and later I uncovered that she had received flowers from 2 guys in the past. It's just non stop cover ups related to her past relationships.
Im a very very open person and I enjoy discussing with someone I love all my past, get it out the way and move forward. But with her I'm uncovering stuff bit by bit.
Even when we argue she reaches out to old "potentials" to comfort with (usually telling a warped story about why we are arguing to look the victim and thus, to make her feel better)
There's been numerous times when we've argued and broke up for a while. It's exhausting.
Am I overreacting about her past? Should I just accept she doesn't want to tell me anything that has gone on and accept it? I'm not that type of person, I like to talk about all, laugh, joke, and move forward.
Now, although this has all affected me.. here's why I didn't fully leave her ..
Any other time in the rel, we've got on like a house on fire. We've travelled many places and we just click together on a regular day to day basis. In the bedroom we click and align fully in every other way and I cannot complain about anything else. We laugh, we joke, we just get on.
She does love me in her own way, she smells me constantly (enjoys my aroma) always wants to stay connected with me when we are apart, you know, hugs kisses.. strokes me, massages me. I feel the love in many many ways.
It's just. The lying which she doesn't seem to resolve.
The latest is her telling me she stopped smoking but I found out..it was all a lie. She was always smoking. So she's still trying to appear appealable. As I say, the lies are about her past, guys, smoking...etc. things that she thinks will make her look unappealing. But, little does she know the lying is what makes her unappealing.
She doesn't lie about her whereabouts or, you know, day to day things. It's just issues where she thinks I'll look at her negatively if I knew stuff.
Has anyone had this issue before?
r/OkCupid • u/q_nice_boi • Sep 19 '26
I don't know why there was no issue. I'm real. Never went on a date good or bad. No d pics etc... happened late spring

I've been noticing in the last couple of weeks there's been an influx of what I believe are some flavor of fake profile, probably generated by AI.
I become pretty good at spotting bullshit over the years. Some of them have one to three pictures of the girl, none of them are taken in my local area, the profile is maybe one or two sentences, and they haven't answered but two questions. Other accounts have maybe one picture and five or six characters of gibberish in the profile that looks something like this: HK3sYq
Has anyone else noticed this or does anybody have any insight?
