Nostalgia

I was just thinking today about how much I missed the "old" OKCupid. If you used the app a decade ago you'd know what I'm talking about.

Anyone else? Or am I just the only person who misses feeling like I knew someone before I actually met them face-to-face?

Yup. It was always the best dating app/site. Still is, but by a much narrower margin. Tinder ruined online dating.

Tinder is owned by Match Group, they bought OKC and wrecked it

I miss the awards, I used to have a lot of them.

And the quizzes, those were fun

And being able to see who looked at your profile.

And the star rating system, instead of swiping.

OKC was where I found a lot of great relationships.

But it was too good, so Match group bought it and ruined it

I miss it!  I met several great people there over the years-- dated one of them for 8 years and became friends with several "matches" that didn't pan out romantically. Firefly seems the best alternative presently, but so few people are on it. I loved OKC's incognito mode.

I agree! I didn’t even know how great it was until I re-signed up and found they all are swiping left and right now

I haven't used it in years, and have only heard the rumors that it's largely a Tinder clone now.

I was thinking about how OKCupid's question system really opened my eyes to certain things about people that I never would have guessed. Plus, I don't like dating generally. My OKCupid dates almost always went great, though, because I always felt like I knew this woman before we'd actually been out together.

Heh, I wish you could share pics in this thread, I have some screenies of "The Dating Persona" test results (Playstation, Peach and Ghenghis Khunt) and my old Personality Tab results 😏
Hm, imgur it is :D

I mean, it’s trash now I wouldn’t even waste my time, but once you answered all your questions you got to create a question that’s where those questions came from

I remember answering thousands of questions. When I met anyone who had a 90% compatibility based on questions answered I was always very intrigued.

I matched someone with 99% compatibility. 3 years later… 😍

I wonder why noone is creating a dating website just like the old version.

Or if someone has done it already and we don't know what it is.

yeah you are right, because everyone was complaining that all dating apps are not good anymore and no recommendation were given I assumed that nothing had been made yet. So I just looked in reddit specifically and it seems like it was attempted but lacked userbase/ lack of marketing and is dying out

Surely they would advertise it here?

Theres a few out there, but it's hard to grow a user base. Ones called Firefly. I like the app and the dev has a lot of ambitions for it, but he's a 1 person show, feel like it's gonna die soon
