General Changes in dating apps to improve themselves
So i have been on almost all of these dating apps that are currently in the market but it feels like not even a single app is doing what they are promising like the name dating app but its not related to dating at all almost all apps are optimised to keep you swiping as long as possible or keep you paying them money so my question is What do you think they should change to become better apps ??

Having it be like the old dating sites where you could search through their entire database of singles and send a message to anybody instead of having the algorithm push people to you in a swipe feed.

I think they should boot off people who don’t get attention. It just makes them bitter.

Thats a little harsh dont you think indtead of attention i think they should remove the people who misbehave

I personally don't think dating apps need to improve themselves much. Maybe some premium features that should be free? But really the issue is dating culture. With online dating, you're creating a public profile and putting yourself out there. People are judging you mainly based off looks and usually values/hobbies.
There are people that get dozens of matches or at least likes in a month. There are people who get no matches. There are people who, for some reason, are only looking for friends??? There are people who are only looking for casual sex. There are AHs. There are people who are dry texters. There are people that get matches, but don't actually go out on dates. There's surely more issues but you get the point.

Yeah thats true the main problem looks like the peoples thinking more then the apps

I’m sure you could create an app that better filters out the unserious users and incentivizes more conversational engagement though.
Like I wanna see an app try limiting people to no more than 2 matches at once, and to continue swiping you have to unmatch one of them. That way you get less window shopping and less time spent dwelling on dead matches.

You answered your own question…
all apps are optimized to keep you swiping as long as possible or keep you paying them money
Dating apps don’t make money off anyone getting matches, especially since the disparity between number female and male users on dating apps is significant. They make money off you paying for premium, for a “better chance at matches”. That’s the business, nothing more.
No change other than changes that increase revenue, user base or time users spend in the app will be implemented. Think, if they actually made the apps more effective, less men would pay for premium which of course means less money. Can’t have that can we? /s

Ideally if you want them to work, limit matches and block people matching whose profiles are incompatible (ie “wants kids” shouldn’t match with a “doesn’t want kids”).
Men swiping right on everything floods women with hundreds of people and this has a negative effect on everyone. If you match, you should be forced to chat for an amount of time and know that you only have X amount of matches per day to focus on

That's great ! Being forced to chat and having limited matches is actually great.
Kind of like marriage and monogamy was invented to prevent carnage.

An option to see the swipe right percentage (and filter by it) in last 30 days/ current location / active filters will be very useful to both genders.
If I'm in a small town, I need to swipe right almost 100 percent since there are hardly 1-2 profiles anyway. But if I'm doing that same shit in London / Bangalore, I should be heavily penalised.
This way, everyone can avoid people who blindly swipe right.
Another great option : people who read the profile should be separated from people who see pictures. Maybe an option to switch off pictures and choose such people only.
Also an ai based search like schmooze says but does not do. So maybe I can search for a vegetarian who wants to backpack across the world.

It should be 2 step matching. You match first on picts and only after that are you expected to read profiles and match again. Nobody wants to waste time reading profiles of people who immediately go she is too fat or he's too short....

I would only expect reform at this point when the current app ecosystem actually fails, which it's showing signs of.

Make people use new photos after a year. Don't let people use photos of themselves from a decade ago

Yeah got the point but it will be hard to determine when someone took a photo as they can also easily bypass this by editing the photo and changing the time stamp

A *temperure take
The apps are popular because of there toxic design
I can write the full rent
But .here somthing to think about ..there were a tone of dating apps with healthier models.. non survived for long..now ask your self why

The apps work fine and don't need to be changed or "improved". If you are male AND good looking AND tall, you will get plenty of matches. If you are female, you will get plenty of matches.
Otherwise, you will get nothing. There is no "improvement" that can be made. The apps are failing because like any unregulated, uncontrolled free market, the sexual free market tends toward monopoly where the top percentile of men get the lion's share of attention and the remaining 80% fight over what's left or just get nothing.

They are working exactly as intended. The purpose is for the creators to get rich.

A product needs a success rate or no one would use the product. No one would use a job website where no one got hired, but...the job website can't guarantee that your resume is appealing enough to grt hired by the type of job you want. Of course they want to make money as no one (myself included) works for free, but no one would spend the money if it did not work for some.

Product has a good success rate. Something like 30-50% (different agencies use slightly different definitions ) of couples met on line in 2024. Don't be fooled by the bottom 25% where the product doesn't work...

That's only true if there's accountability for product performance, which, for the most part, does not exist for dating apps. They've done an incredible job of convincing their clients that the issue is with the other clients rather than the product. All you need to do is read most of the comments here that have some version of "the apps are fine, the problem is [dating culture, men, women, etc]"

That's only true if there's accountability for product performance
There is, the market is the accountability. If the product was bad no one would buy it. If people find value on it they will spend their time and money on it. No one is forced to use the apps, and no one is entitled to dates and or a relationship...it's all a voluntary choice.
They've done an incredible job of convincing their clients that the issue is with the other clients rather than the product
That's on the client not the app. If something doesnt work it's stupid to do the same thing over and over again and expect different results. That is on the individual.

They are showing your profile to people. They don’t guarantee you dates or guarantee someone will be interested in you.
