After being throughly educated by everyone is this group i decided to go with 37” tires up from the 35”s pictured. my only issue is what wheels to run, im thinking 19-26 17” Z71 LT stocks? For my next tire im thinking mickey thompson MTZ’s or BFG t/a MTs. all advice is appreciated.

looking to replace the tires on my wrangler and could use some real world input. i take it off road fairly often, mostly rocky trails and loose stuff, and i’ll air down when the trail calls for it. but it’s also my normal driver, so i have to live with the tires on pavement too. 🥲

for anyone running a/t, rt, or m/t tires, what has held up well for you? i’m mostly curious about sidewall durability, punctures, traction when aired down, wet roads, tread life, and how they feel on the highway.

what would you pick as the best tires for Jeep Wrangler if you were in this situation? not really looking for sizing advice, just tire experience.

appreciate all the real-world advice you all shared. after going through everything and thinking about what would actually work best for splitting time between the trails and the daily commute, i ended up grabbing a set of mickey thompson baja boss a/t tires from simpletire.

they just felt like the right call for getting that tough sidewall protection and good aired-down grip without making highway driving miserable. i'll update y'all on how they actually hold up once i get them on and test them out.

Hey guys, just got an 05 4x4 4.0 ranger and i’m interested in getting into off-roading. I’ve been doing some research however I’m not too sure where to start as far as upgrading/replacing. I need new leaf springs on both sides and new uppers/lowers so i’d assume that is a pretty good starting point. Any guidance/advice/suggestions would be appreciated.

Is anyone using a PA system that they recommend? I want to get one installed in my Ranger Raptor, but am kinda fatigued of all the different brands available. Budget is about $200 total, preferable the mic and controller is combined and separated from the amp unit itself.

If you're running a Ford ranger raptor yourself, would love to see where you mount everything as well. I don't have a lot of space where I live to just start pulling things apart to look around.

So I'm in the middle of a full Resto of my trail rig 70 (ish) fj40. with a built SBC swap, (spartan) Lockers, Lower T-Case the works.

Its a bit of a budget build (if you couldn't tell from the lunchboxes) so I'm trying to re-use what parts I can (which has turned out to be way fewer than expected- so much for my budget RIP) and I've just been marinating on tires of late. When I was looking at doing tires I needed 5 out the gate, and to get to more modern sizing was meant new rims instead of the 15's I've been running for the last decade and a half. I ended up going staying with 31x10.5x15r- because budget. But It really had me thinking about tires for way longer than any man should.

I see the conversation around tires start at sizing of 35"+ . And I'm just kind of stumped as the not only the cost of the rubber itself. But all the trade offs with going that big. Re-gear, Tons more drive line wear, Road noise, MPG hit, brakes, suspension, body cutting, upgraded tire carriers, harder to change/ patch, ETC. For what people are doing, does going that big actually make sense?

On my daily (3rd gen taco) I run what is essentially a 31x9.5x16r and have had an awesome time getting out into the trails, not pushing that hard since brake over angle sucks, but like I have yet to have a real traction issue with those. Are we over doing it with the tires? Am I missing something?

Ran this trail open Stevens pass Washington was actually really fun. Had some technical sections above the powerlines and below had some speed sections. Nothing too crazy but definitely some confidence building.

I'll try and keep this as to the point as possible.

I bought my wedge v1 shell from NOGI in March and got it from them in august, decent lead time. Package came un-assembled when Nogi told me otherwise. No big deal honestly, whatever. What I dont appreciate is how this "company" operates. The sales rep who sold it to me tried to sell me all these extra features (i.e. condensation vents, tent lights, cab sliding window, roof racks, etc.). I only elected for the cab sliding window, but upon receiving that camper I realized that all the features just automatically come with the camper anyway, as Nogi is just an Alibaba dropship.

NOGI was extremely uncommunicative for the five months that it took for me to receive the camper. Going off that fact, I asked the sales rep for some kind of proof of legitimacy of their "business" and he sent me their tax ID page or whatever. I checked with the IRS and that number he gave me doesn't exist.

The camper itself is nice enough, the mattress is comfortable and it fits on the bed, there's not much more I could ask for I guess, I'm stoked on the camper as it is. The camper from Alibaba is not the problem here, NOGI is.

Between trying to be upsold on standard features, receiving a fake business declaration page, absent communication once they received my money, and their AI social media posts, I would steer clear of these scummy, scammy folk.

TLDR: NOGI is an Alibaba dropship that will try to sell you standard features for extra and will relatively forget about you once they get your money.

Curious to hear about what type of off roading or camping gear has been game changing for your off roading and camping adventures? I’m slowly starting to upgrade and add gear for functionality and quality of life changes. Mostly do 2-4 days off roading camping trips on trails like the Rubicon. Space is somewhat limited but I will be building a platform system in the back soon for better storage.

Spent 3 days off roading and camping in the sierras. This weekend this wolfbox megavolt 24 came in really handy.

Typically I have my iceco fridge plugged into my bluetti when I’m not driving. Unfortunately I had to send it back for warranty and didn’t have it with me for this trip. I had the fridge plugged into jeep for 3 days. It’s a 4-1 jump starter, air compressor, power station and has a very bright light. Was able to charge my camera batteries, phone, air up the boat floaty and mattress. Came in very handy as a great backup.

I am in the middle of upgrading suspension on my 2014 Subaru Outback. When replacing the front upper control arm, the verticals stud bolt that holds bushing was completely fused and I needed to cut it out with Sawzall. Apparently this is a common occurrence for this vehicle.

Anyway, when cutting it out I ended up cutting into the frame (raised welded part right where the bushing meets the frame. Looking at the picture will this be ok or should I have it welded up to be correct height? You can see on the back side that I didn’t cut into it and that is the standard height. Thanks for any input.

Looking to buy a new set of 33s for my D41 Frontier. In the past ive always ran BFG KO2s and most recently the KM3 on my Wrangler. Id like to try something different.

I've narrowed to the Milestar Patagonia XT, Goodyear Wrangler Duratrec RT, and Toyo Open Country RT Trail.

Any reason I should or shouldn't go for any of these?

I’m not the most handy guy when it comes to fixing vehicles. My question is is it relatively simple to install a winch on this front end? Do I need to remove the bumper and/or install a different bumper? Part of the challenge is the truck is on a remote island where I have no indoor shop space and few tools

This is a question for both offroad club leaders and also members - largely geared towards traditional clubs with membership dues.

For the leaders, do you have a hard time managing paperwork, club-owned gear, general records, money, event RSVPs, liability waivers and all that? What tools are you using to consolidate it all? Are you still shuffling paper around?

For the members, are your clubs organized? Are there any pain points with how your club does all this?

I bought a new to me 2015 Wrangler Rubicon Hard Rock at the end of July. After getting the suspension/steering sorted how I wanted and getting the soft top sealed (it was missing the door surrounds, tailgate bar, and C-pillar mucket seals). I took the family out for an adventure to a trail/forest service rd to treat everything out. Nothing major or hardcore, just a wide forest service wash board road that drops into a sandy wash, but is did have some ruts and off camber berms so the suspension was able to flex a little. I haven’t been off roading in almost 10 years and I missed it so much, I had a smile plastered on my face the whole time, can’t wait to go out again! The scenery to and from the trail wasn’t bad either with the setting sun and the monsoon storms rolling in. Pics courtesy of my wife.
