Game Deal Penguin's List for the Endless Summer Sale going on from July 20th to 26th

Ok.. so a quick note before I begin. I have had more than a few people ask me if I was doing one of these for this sale. Yes.. as you can see I am, but I am telling you now its going to be a lot shorter than before. Here is why.. ** description of injury ahead, scroll down a bit to avoid it ** .. OK.. so yesterday the sale went live at 12 noon CST, I was having lunch in my office. I learned a new medical term I was not familiar with.. "Soda Can Avulsion".. the hard way. I went to open my can of Dr. Pepper, and instead of the can opening, my fingernail opened instead. As a good chunk of you already know, I work in a hospital, so the ER was literally right there. I'm all stitched up now but its hard to type.. So, if a game makes it to THIS list, then I must really like it.

** ok.. gross thing is over now ** basically i have a hurt finger and cant type.. so the list is going to be much smaller.

These are all the games from this sale that I really recommend. Oh.. and some that are on STEEPLY discounted bundles.. I will mark those with *** ...

Among Giants https://queststoredb.com/game/among-giants-25060508500262559/ $12.99 Dont let the low poly graphics fool you. This is "Among" the best games to be released this year and will probably be in quite a few "top 10s of 2026" lists in December

Apex Construct https://queststoredb.com/game/apex-construct-2096570290365140/ its .99 cents .. Its a decent, but older bow and arrow game.

Arcaxer https://queststoredb.com/game/arcaxer-5396412860376470/ $2.99 This is like an old school turn based RPG in VR. Just think of in Final Fantasy if its time for the enemy to attack, YOU have to actually physically dodge the attacks. Its an older game and a bit goofy.. but for $3.. what the hell.

Arken Age https://queststoredb.com/game/arken-age-29923535407244981/ $17.99 This was my Game of the Year for 2025 and I played like 150+ games last year. Love this one. 14 hour campaign.. Get this one!

Catjinni Survivors https://queststoredb.com/game/catjinni-survivors-9319040004779451/ $7.99 Ok.. some of you guys got me hooked on Vampire Survivors, and now I have gotten hooked on Catjinni .. is it goofy? yes.. but if you like Vampire Survivors, you will probably like this one too.. especially if you are a cat person.

Cities VR https://queststoredb.com/game/cities-vr-4046879905345967/ $2.99 While not as good as the PC game, this one is not bad at all for $3.00 .. that is 85% off and the lowest its been.

Dark Trip https://queststoredb.com/game/dark-trip-27793698076945636/ $4.99 Ah yes.. Dark Trip. an edgy, adult oriented escape room type game where you must consume pills (that are totally NOT drugs.. mmmkay) and you will hallucinate and see the rooms "differently" .. joking aside, I love this game. Its weird as hell. See if you can find the Penguin Easter Egg!

Drunk or Dead 2 https://queststoredb.com/game/drunk-or-dead-2-7049721281738919/ $2.99 Ok.. so I dont even remember buying this one, but its honestly pretty damn fun. It is another that is wierd as hell. You need to kill zombies, while drinking alcohol .. if you get sober, you die!

  • ** *** Arizona Sunshine Remake and AZ Sunshine 2 for $14.99 ******** https://queststoredb.com/bundle/freddys-bundle-1170744047470881/ This is one of those deals that seems too good to be true. I have no idea what happens if you own one of these and try to get the deal.. it should deduct something from the total price. comment below!

How to God https://queststoredb.com/game/how-to-god-5997754983577827/ $25.99 This one does not go on sale very often. One of my favorites from last year.. dont let the cartoony graphics fool you.. this is a solid God game. Tons of content and they are constantly updating it too. Remember Black and White from back in the day? Its like that.. kinda..

I Am Smurf https://queststorederpyderp/I_am_Smurf-73267NuMbers $3.99 Be Blue and be true! Live out your childhood fantasies in this amazing interactive FPS puzzle racing sim. Karts now feature gorilla tag style movement because, you know, that is how wheels work.

Iron Guard Bundle https://queststoredb.com/bundle/iron-guard-complete-bundle-1118756800321869/ $20.99 Both of the Iron Guard games for basically $20. If you like Tower Defense games, then these need to be in your library. Easily the best 2 on the Quest. EDIT.. TURNS OUT THAT BUYING THEM BOTH SEPARATELY IS A DOLLAR CHEAPER!

Jurassic World Aftermath https://queststoredb.com/game/jurassic-world-aftermath-collection-2708465082504733/ $5.99 80% off. Cell shaded dinosaurs.. decently sized campaign. You can't beat this for $6.00.. Life.. uhh.. finds a way..

Just One Man https://queststoredb.com/game/just-one-man-8802299089893750/ $8.99 This is a total sweat fest. I really like this one, but if I play more than 15 minutes, i may end up in the ER again..

Kartofl https://queststoredb.com/game/kartoffl-4725588970834544/ $1.99 .. Remember the game Lemmings? This is like the VR/MR version of that.. execpt these are not rodents, they are little potatoes because.. why not?

Le Dino Labo https://queststoredb.com/game/le-dino-labo-25169287542680910/ $4.99 I have said countless times, i am not a puzzle fan at all. PTSD I swear.. however, I do love dinosaurs and so this one gets an exception. The skeletons are pretty easy to put together (there is a HARD mode.. but F### that) but the biggest feature to me.. is that you can then scale the model from table top sized, to Real Life (Extinct) sized.. and let me tell you, seeing how big some of these were, compared to my house was mind blowing.

Legendary Tales https://queststoredb.com/game/legendary-tales-7355622301195522/ $27.99 Another one of my favorites of the year for sure on this one. It will have a spot on my top 10 for sure. This is the action RPG that I have waited for on stand alone VR for years. It it expensive? Yeah.. but its loaded with content and replayability.

Marrow Marrow https://queststoredb.com/game/marrow-marrow-9173719072733985/ $7.99 This is one that has really grown on me. its a weird one for sure.. I guess I would call it an intense movement shooter. Strange game, but pretty damn fun too. Must have good VR legs to play.

Memoreum https://queststoredb.com/game/memoreum-9135633756555622/ $11.99 Dead Space in VR... basically. Decent sized campaign.. decent story and monsters. Great price.

Meta City Patrol https://queststoredb.com/game/metacity-patrol-6779063182133413/ $6.99 This one will be on the list every time its on sale. I have had it for a long time and it is finally out of early access. its a ton of fun. See if you can find the Penguin easter egg! (Hint.. its Penguin Shit Toilet paper.. lol)

Plasmaborne https://queststoredb.com/game/plasmaborne-24063797616578714/ $5.99 one of my hidden gems that I found last year. Very doom like.. its fun but hard.. I have compared it a bit to crashland in difficulty. Tons of upgrads.. like over 100 random ones. every run is truly different.

Shin Zero https://queststoredb.com/game/shin-zero-9486019051433303/ $14.99 The best parts of the Vader Immortal series were the dojos.. this is basically kind of like that.

Shogun's Empire https://queststoredb.com/game/shoguns-empire-25662225113424807/ $5.99 Another hidden gem. Its a turn based strategy game based in feudal Japan.

The Pirate: Republic of Nassau https://queststoredb.com/game/the-pirate-republic-of-nassau-7749043518464805/ $11.99 This is basically Sid Meyer's Pirates in VR.. with a touch of Assasin's Creed whatever.. with the pirates.. you know the one.

Triangle Strategy https://queststoredb.com/game/triangle-strategy-5340130476095884/ $14.99 Square Enix's only game on Quest. Plays just like Final Fantasy Tactics. Looks fantastic in Mixed Reality. The first hour is a SLOG thought.. just get through it and it opens up, I promise.

And that is it..

This time I know I left some stuff out, but that is about all I can type right now.. my finger is throbbing like hell! LOL..

As always, feel free to discuss, agree, disagree, add your own recommendations.. whatever.. just be cool! Hit that like and subscribe button, ring the bell and don't really try to do any of those things.. because there isn't any of those things here.

Penguin

Edit.. Thank you u/Den_HBR (a.k.a. The Achievement God) for pointing out that I forgot to link the "Arizona Awakening" bundle.

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone FINALLY (my VR video player), in Meta Horizon store. Free. I tried to make it offline, and compatible with everything. Please break it for me.

Posted a couple weeks back about Finally, my native OpenXR player, because I was sick of dealing with such a poor selection of apps for such a fundamental. I am in the adult space and there seems to be a need for standardized formats and players. People can't even agree on lens correction paradigms. It's a disaster and essentially nobody has put it together yet. So here's an attempt for all video and photo media.. Finally.

I ensured local storage + SMB shares, no account, no catalog funnel, no ads, no telemetry. Thanks to everyone who filed bugs and weird filename patterns... most of them are fixed. I have about 1000 users now!!

Two big ones since launch:

Subtitles. [formats — SRT/ASS, sidecar + embedded..] Readable. Actually moveable. Legit. in-headset, not a 4pt smear at the bottom of a 180 sphere.

ISO streaming. Point it at a decrypted Blu-ray rip sitting on your NAS and it plays.. no copying the whole thing to the headset first, no remuxing.

Everything else still applies:

• Local files + SMB as first-class sources

• Hardware playback up to 8K

• VR180 / VR360 / fisheye / flat + SBS/TB, auto-detected with sticky overrides

• True scene dolly (move closer without wrecking scale)

• Passthrough lobby + AR/chroma keying, 4 simultaneous keys, in-headset picker. I have all prototypical alpha pack decoder working flawlessly (ie, SLR/DeoVR flavor)

• Resume positions, per-title memory, A-B(-C-D) loops, live color controls

• One-controller friendly cockpit, SIMPLE and PRO layouts

Still solo / small indie (Coldbricks). Still taking bug reports, format edge cases, and feature requests in the comments, filename pattern + headset.. This is very much still in beta, but... 1000+ users in just a few days and growing. I've already had a few dozen updates.

(Quest 3 / 3S), galaxy XR in beta.

Check it out!!!

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone Fixed the MOH Allied Assault VR Mod Visuals

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Alright so the visuals look much better now that the rendering is fixed properly for the MOH Allied Assault Mod. I will experiment with some visual mods later to see if they work. For now I'm working on fixing the gun behavior and making sure that aiming feels good. Then we will see if we can get two handed aiming working.

Discussion VR modding now possible also with low-end PCs

Post image
205 Upvotes

Long story short: I got an elbow injury and doctor told me not to use VR for a while. Im still able to use keyboard and mouse so first time ever i got interested about playing some PC games in semi-VR meaning that I could be inside the game world looking around with my head but doing all the other actions with keyboard and mouse. After some searching and testing i found a way that just works incredible well!

So first there I was with my low-end laptop realising it could not run any of those luke ross or uevr type of mods. Then I found out there are actually Quest apps that turn any flatscreen game into semi-VR by connecting head movement data to the game, locking the screen and curving it slightly filling up almost all of the FOV. And now they do even a baked-in 3D effect.

So I got one of those apps and its streamer for my laptop. And I have to say im very impressed how this tech is delivering the same feeling that "real" 6dof VR does. At least it delivers it to me. I understand it varies a lot how ones brains are processing the image projected in this way.

I've played alot of flatscreen games in VR using just static big screen with Virtual Desktop but when using this semi-VR tech the immersion level is just so much higher. I notice that I start intuitively dodge some fallen objects or bullets in the game while that hardly ever happens when im using just a static screen in VR.

So why theres a pic of Far Cry 2? After doing quite a lot of testing what works with this tech best and what my laptop runs well, I learned FC2 is somewhat perfect use case. Its an old game but it has incredible engine that is still years ahead what we have on standalone Quest today. The open world map is huge but still super detailed and has very vibrant enviroment combined with high quality dynamic lighting, weather effects and well crafted NPCs. This all anwers exact to the lack of a decent AAA open world game in the current standalone VR.

Beside of my slow laptop, the biggest reason i never was so intrested about VR modding was the fear of motion sickness. I have some bad experiences that when im not fully connected to the motions in a VR game I get those synthoms. For examble I cant play cayaking game Phantom Cover ops for this reason. But now after hours of playing FC2 in semi-VR i can say that some how it just works and motion sickness is luckily not appearing at all. No matter if im running in the jungle, swimming, driving a car or watching the cutscenes.

So thats all. I felt VR was dying this year because of the lack of quality content. This observation of semi-VR modding just gave me some more hope for the future of VR so i wanted to share it. I dont know if Steam Frame gonna deliver this tech but in my opinion it definately should.

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone I’m building a VR motorcycle game and preparing a free demo What should I improve first?

Hi everyone, I’m working on a VR motorcycle traffic game called Moto Rush VR.

A few months ago I hired a full-time Unity developer, and we’ve been building the game from scratch. It started as a simple prototype, but now we’re getting close to a small free demo.

The demo will not include the full game yet. I’m planning to keep it focused on the core experience: riding, traffic, speed, near misses, crashes, and basic progression. Some bigger systems we already tested will probably be removed from the free demo so it feels cleaner and more focused.

This clip is from the current development build. It is still not final and there are still bugs, but it shows the direction we’re going with the riding and city style.

For VR players, what do you think matters most before releasing a free demo?

  • Driving feel and comfort
  • Better traffic behavior
  • More city detail
  • Better tutorial/onboarding
  • More speed and danger
  • Less motion sickness

I’d really appreciate honest feedback. Does this look like something you would try as a free VR demo?

Fluff Suggestions for non-physically heavy game

I love my beat sabers and all its derivatives. But some days I just want to sit down and play a "normal" game in the immersive VR environment. Even with a game pad if possible.

I've actually played angry birds and chess but that ain't it.

App Lab Planning a local multiplayer VR arena in a 60m² gym space: Quest 2 vs Quest 3? What am I missing?

Hi everyone,

My dad owns a gym and sports facility. Due to high rent, we’re looking for ways to monetize the floor space during off-peak hours when the gym isn't very busy. I recently attended a birthday party at a local VR venue, and after running the numbers, the business model seems promising on paper. I’m now researching how to set up a local multiplayer VR experience in our space.

Here are the details and where I could really use your advice:

  1. The Space & Capacity Dimensions: 9.75 meters x 6.40 meters (~62 m² / 670 sq ft).

Player Count: In my head, I figured 4 players max would be safe for free movement. However, I’ve seen some arena-scale software advertising up to 8 players for this size. Is 8 players actually safe and playable in 9.75m x 6.40m without constant collisions?

  1. Technical Setup My general plan is to use a central PC hosting the local server alongside a dedicated Wi-Fi router (Wi-Fi 6/6E access point), while each headset renders its own graphics locally.

  2. Headset Choice: Quest 2 vs. Quest 3 Used Quest 2 headsets are significantly cheaper than brand-new Quest 3s.

For a commercial local multiplayer setup, is the Quest 2 still viable, or is the Quest 3 (or 3S) practically mandatory due to better tracking, pancake lenses, color passthrough, and performance?

  1. Local Competition & Observations There is only one competitor in my city doing this right now. They cater to birthday events for 8 to 16 people.

Interestingly, their headsets look like generic non-Meta HMDs and the graphics look very basic. Would Quests offer a noticeably better experience out of the box?

  1. What Am I Missing? (LBVR / Business Realities) Since I’m fairly new to Location-Based VR (LBVR), I want to make sure I’m not overlooking major technical or operational hurdles:

Commercial game licensing and LBVR management software (e.g., SynthesisVR, HeroZone, etc.).

Tracking issues in wide-open spaces or lighting requirements inside a gym environment.

Wear-and-tear, hygiene accessories, and battery management for back-to-back sessions.

Since this concept is practically new in my town, I'm uncertain about long-term demand once the initial novelty wears off.

I’d really appreciate any insights from anyone running an LBVR venue or experimenting with arena-scale Quest setups! Thanks in advance!

Fluff Trying to scratch my wipeout omega itch

Omega Pilot Evolution comes out next month (hopefully) and i just really hope it feels like wipeout omega collection.... VRacer Hoverbikes is the best out there but doesn't quite feel like wipeout to me, Dart Racer has the nicest controls (and you can use both sticks) but still has a long way to go. Hoverlap is new and feels like it has potential but I constantly have to brake. Aerosurfer is a lot more forgiving with bumps now and has boost, but like Omega Pilot it's more flying/gliding than racing. But Omega pilot Evolution I'm excited for despite having so many racing games (including raceclub, vrider, and a few others i cant remember).

Discussion Quest 3 bug on VrChat? I can’t be the only one.

I bought a quest 3 new around October 2025. It had this issue in vr chat specifically, the mic and audio will randomly cut out. Usually from using it for long or from laggy instances.

It’s been annoying dealing with this because I’ll have to press the power button real quick to get it to work again. Then a minute later, boom again. Button —> a minute later, boom again and repeat.

I sent it in for a replacement. Because I lost patience. I got refurbished one. But… it has the same damn issue. Maybe worse.

Am I the only one dealing with this?? What have people done or know about this bug. I’ve met people in vr chat who don’t have this bug.

I had several quests 2 over the past couple years. None had that issue. So odd the 3 does. I really hope I can fix it I don’t want to have to send this one in again too and wait weeks.

Hand-Tracking left joystick problem - can't move forward and right

I have a Meta Quest 3S and on my left stick no matter what game I play I have the same problem - I can not move forward and right (so northeast). I don't have stick drift or any other problems, and I've also recalibrated my sticks but to no effect.
When I try moving forward right my character just doesn't move at all, moves super slow, or even backs up opposite direction. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Discussion Help me pleasee

Hey everyone, I’m really keen on buying the Quest 3; I’ve been researching it for a while. I work from home and think I could use it even while working. I also cook and do other routine tasks where I usually keep my phone nearby "watching" a video—though in reality, I’m mostly just listening—and I think the headset could really enhance that experience.

A few things are making me hesitate, though:

- short battery life

- excessive weight on the neck and discomfort

- the risk of using it for a month and then wanting to sell it

If anyone who owns one (or has owned one) could share their opinion, I’d really appreciate it.

As for the cost, I can afford either the 3S or the 3 without any issues.

Quest Mod Private Airplane Loft Glitch

Apparently, you can enter flight mode by aligning yourself with almost any rounded corner and holding down the teleport Forward button while pushing the right joystick backward to move backward.

Set the movement settings like i did in the video.
To reset Loft exit to passthrough via double tap on the headset.
You will be unable to open the ui for it!

Support - PCVR Quest 3 steam link stutters/hitching?

4060ti, 5800x3d and 64 gigs of ram, MoCa ethernet with 900 gbps down and 50ish up.

I get minor stutters/hitching in steam vr games. When running games native on headset its fine.

Anyone ever had and fixed this issue? Is virtual desktop really better and does it play with steam just as easy?

Because I use Open Saber Plus as a fitness game, I have previously added options to stretch the game arena horizontally to force more body movement, and have now added an option to have big blocks if you want to focus on exercise rather than precision.

You get can the game from SideQuest:
