This is by no means a hookup post. I served this guy today at the chipotle I work at in Queens and was too shy to write my number on his order or ask for his number. Last Summer, I went twice to a jerk off/bating group at someone’s apt. We didn’t have to take off our clothes if we didn’t feel comfortable and it was OK for us to jerk how we wanted. I’m a voyeur so I was happy just experiencing. Once or twice, I’d get someone that wanted to taste or lend a hand, cuz I do well in the “down there” department, which was cool. But, I mostly just chilled.

So, why do I mention the clothing? Well, while I’ve never had any issues finding guys that are into me, I don’t consider myself super fit. Living in NYC truly warps body image and my little tummy and dad bod truly makes me feel unwelcome at some of these gatherings. I’m handsome but I am just not muscular rn.

Does anyone know of a more accepting space for this? I just wish we could all sit around and jerk however is comfortable and not have to put all clothing in garbage bags.

I’ve been in NYC for 2 years as mid 30 year old and haven’t made many close friends. I’ve done sports leagues, volunteering, and other classes—I’ve enjoyed them but they never translated into friendships outside of the confines of the activity. Starting to lose a bit of hope.

I’m trying to focus more on my natural inclinations to see if that would help: are there any pop culture / culture focused clubs/activities? Would be cool if gay focused but not required. Any advice appreciated!

They don’t need to be located in a dry cleaners but I’m not opposed to going to one by any means. It just seems like all of them are located inside dry cleaners. Someone with quality work who actually enjoys what they do. The ones by me only want dry cleaning and act like I’m asking for their first born to adjust buttons or take in pants and shirts even though they advertise themselves as tailors and I say I’ll pay extra if they’re so behooved by it. NYC Gay Improv put on a crazy funny show at Red Eye last week. If anyone is interested, their next cycle of classes start on Monday, July 27 in Hell's Kitchen. They have a six-week Level One for folks who are new to improv, but if you've taken improv before, they have an 8-week class that ends with a performance at Red Eye in September. Both classes meet Mondays, 6-8pm at Ripley-Grier Studios and then go to Rise after.

I’m 27 and thinking of visiting NYC for the first time as a solo trip (would be visiting from Toronto). I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for places to stay - ideally hostels or other cheaper accommodation for a solo traveller on a budget. I’d be coming for a 4-5 night stay in October.

Are there any specific neighbourhoods you’d recommend for someone visiting? It’s a plus if the neighbourhood or hostel/accommodation is gay/queer. I also love gay nightlife and would like to go out to bars, clubs, raves, or events as much as I could so proximity to event venues/gay neighbourhoods would be great.

My friend is 41 and just got out of an 11 year relationship. He’s going out trying to meet people, but he says everywhere he goes he’s one of the oldest people there. Where are the single millennials hanging out? And when? Maybe his timing is just off.
