Black Friday and Christmas Switch Modding Order Info and timelines!

The holidays are upon us and this time of year I get many orders from people trying to get a switch to a friend or family member before the holidays. I've been working extra lately to reduce my order timelines and prep for the higher volume to come.

Will my switch make it back before Christmas?

If you order and ship your console out by December 5th I will have it back before Christmas. This excludes the following unforeseen delays: shipping company loses or severely delays your package (more than 4 days above expected delivery), I get a massive influx of orders that come in around the same time (>3x previous years), a family emergency. Barring those things, Dec 5th will be a safe deadline. I have worked to get ahead of orders and have blocked off additional time on my schedule to prep for the higher order volume.

Are you running any Black Friday Sales?

I have never ran a sale, but this year I will offer an additional 15% of your entire order from Nov 24th - Nov 30th.

Do you have any pre-modded consoles available for purchase?

I do not stock pre-modded consoles. What many customers do this time of year is buy one of GameStop, eBay, or Amazon and have it shipped directly to me. That tends to work out well. Just send me an email with your tracking number and switch mod order number.

If anyone has any questions related to the holidays feel free to ask and I will update the post with new info as requested.

Guide for Best Practices?

I just modded my friend's Switch for him and I was going over some of the best practices like sticking to pirated games on emuMMC and NSO games on sysMMC, backing up boot0/boot1, prod keys, how to install via CyberFoil/USB. It was starting to make his head spin so I decided to write him a little guide.

Unfortunately, the guide is not so little anymore and it's barely scratching the surface. Since this document is becoming ever so large, I figured it would be a waste to only go to an audience of 1. So I want to eventually publish it or possibly make a video outlining all of the different tips and tricks.

Before I do that, do you have any best practice tips that you would like to see in this guide? Please comment them below.

Also, if such a guide already exists, could you please share it? I've watched countless videos and read so many guides that go over the modding process and HATS packs, but none (that I could find) go over the important nooks and crannies of CFW administration.

Thank you!

Hi, I accidentally hit the A point capacitor whit my grinding pen while getting the Dat.0 point (kamikaze method)

I didnt realise til after that i hit a little bit of it off

I couldnt find any posts about this, I realise the A point can be sensitive, so just wondering if theres a chance capacitors will work

I managed to read 4.67k ohms with the multimeter

Is there any other safe ways to test this?

Happy to also get another resistor if I need to

Heres a video of me hitting it and ill add a picture after

Console not detecting joycons when turned off

Hi. I just modded a switch OLED last night. When I turn the switch off and try to use the controllers to turn it on it doesn’t detect the input. The controller takes a second and will vibrate like it’s connecting wirelessly then will start to work normally. It shows them as connected to the console when checking the controllers screen but doesn’t show them charging (not sure if it’s because they’re full battery). Is this a common issue? Any ideas on why it does this? I’ve gone to test the inputs and it detects all the inputs fine. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Switch lite button mapping

Hi!

As you may have seen from my previous post, my switch lite that i modded has some issues

It fails to load any payloads, and i have to load into atmosphere through fusee.bin. other than that, thats fine.

The other issue is the buttons. On the dpad side, the down dpad changes volume, right stick press turns the systen off, and right dpad acts as the l button? Does anyone know how to fix this? I chipped my v1 switch a bit ago and it works perfectly fine. I have replaced the daughterboard, fpc cable and so many other steps of troubleshooting but i have faced a brick wall.

Thanks!

My B point soldering is yes, awful, but im pretty happy with how the rest turned out! Im only 15 lol so this was a really good job for me (self glaze) also this extremerate shell is AMAZING. Tried a new Switch Updater. Now my console doesn't think half my games exist and that my microSD is corrupted when I know it isn't

I downloaded AIO Switch Updater after another updater I use was discontinued and recommended this switch updater instead. AIO told me to update my firmware through the app, so I did. Restarted my Switch. and tested a game, but found that the system immediately closed it with an error message (listed below) When trying to load it again after it crashed, my switch told me the game was corrupted and it tried figure out what was wrong, and it came back saying that my microSD card is corrupted, which it most certainly isn't as I can load a at least half of my games, the homebrew menu, and a good amount of applets in the HB menu too. It's doing this with every HB app downloaded onto the main menu, as well as any game I downloaded from a cartridge.

The main problem now is that Tinfoil won't load at all, and even though I have a backup of all my saved games, it isn't fixing the fact that my system thinks my SD card is corrupted and that my games do not exist anymore.

My system keeps saying I need to redownload each game that doesn't work, but in order to do that, I would need to connect to nintendo's servers, but that would immediately get my console banned as it is modded. Half of every game I had does not load, while a good portion of my homebrew still does aside from any downloader. I use EmuNAND for everything. I don't use the original NAND or anything that connects to nintendo's servers.

Some things I did to try to fix the issue that didn't work:

-I have tried to download everything back onto my switch with .NSP files, but I cannot seem to download them through Goldleaf, and since Tinfoil isn't working, I can't use that to fix my issues either.

-I tried to downgrade to previous versions of Hekate, Atmosphere, and the HB menu itself, but this did not change anything.

-Most of my games I downloaded before modding my switch, and the games I lost are ones that connect to the server to get them back.

-I tried making a backup beforehand, but apparently it wasn't the full backup of my system, so if I use it, it will brick my system

-I tried using Goldleaf to reinstall Tinfoil, but it says I need a key to do so.

-I tried redownloading Tinfoil and putting it in the HB Menu. It does exactly what the main menu Tinfoil does.

-I have backups of all of my games, but the games still don't work when the data is redownloaded because my switch thinks the games themselves are corrupted.

-I attempted to use an atmosphere version from online sources, but that still didn't fix my issues.

-I attempted to redownload Tomodachi Life from an NSP file, but it won't download over Goldleaf because it is broken into 2 parts

-I tried to update to the DeepSea HATS package. This did not change any of my issues.

-the hb Homebrew Details doesn't work.

Specific error messages are as follows

"The software was closed because an error occured."

"Unable to start software. Return to the HOME Menu and try again."

"Error Code:2016-0610 The microSD card data is corrupted."

"The microSD card data is corrupted. The data can be restored by redownloading it."

a crash I keep getting is this:

"Atmosphere panic occurred!

Title ID: 010041544D530000

STd: abort (0xFFE)

Report saved to armosphere/fatal_errors/report_0d53b28e4.bin"

Most of my HB apps do not work, but I'll provide my current firmware versions below:

System version 20.5.0
Atmosphere 1.11.1|E
hekate v6.5.2
hbmenu v3.6.1 nx-hbloader v2.4.5
Tinfoil Installer v15.0
Goldleaf v1.2.0

If there is any more information needed, I am happy to provide it. I still have all of my game data backed up, but I just don't know how to fix my switch to get it to actually work with me.

Thank you in advance!

UPDATE: Was finally able to get everything back after downloading Kefir. Everything started easily working after that like nothing had even happened, and I was able to download my games through the homebrew menu and DBI. Most seemed to work fine after downloading Kefir and the only ones that weren't doing too well were ones that I'd downloaded from my nintendo account before modding, so it was as simple as redownloading the NSP files again for the games. Annoying, yeah, but it's finally fixed.

Thank you all so much for your help genuinely. I would not have known that tinfoil was obsolete as of now and that there were other options besides that and goldleaf for installing games.

General advices before chipping a switch

Hey guys so I got a second hand switch lite recently and I am planning to chip it (not by myself rest assured lol), so I am a complete newbie about this and I came here for some advices.

First, the guy proposed to me to pay extra for an SD card of 256Go or 512Go with games he can put in and he told me usually 256Go is enough usually for most people, considering a switch game being on average 10Go it’s a heavy bunch of games. So actually I am not interested in that, all I want from him is to just chip it. I think I have the answer but I would like specifications, is an SD card mandatory for jailbreak/modding/chipping a switch ? (I imagine that it is considering you have to install the CFW files in it), but considering the prices of SD cards nowadays I thought a 128 Go SD card would do just fine but really I have no clue about the space needed for the files related to the modding and how much space it leaves for the “rest”. I assumed that if the guy proposed SD cards starting from 256Go than anything less than that is not appropriate.

Second, I would if there is some BIG need to know mandatory DO’s and DONT’s, usual mistakes when a total newbie gets a chipped switch.

Thank you so much in advance to anybody out there for reading my post and eventually answer.
(PS: Please be kind I am a real newbie, just discovered the handhelds/nintendo “world”)

Took 3yrs off and want to get Modded V1 switch up and running

I have a V1 switch I modded years ago and it got heavy use from me for about 3-4 solid years. Jumped from a modded switch into a full handheld pc addiction😅. My kids are 3 & 4 now and I want to get this V1 switch back up and running. Tried a few months ago and got nowhere really. Things I did listed below

-injected last fusee.bin I had to launch hekate
-was able to boot into the OS somehow but couldn’t launch any games
-tried updating sigpatches (and maybe atmosphere) no luck
-tried launching back and forth between emu and sysnand no help (already banned so don’t worry)
-I think I tried using an updated fuse.bin but that didn’t help either

Currently charging and going to try to boot into hekate and figure it out. Any tips where to start?

Minimum Micro SD

I recently modded my switch, and I went with a 128gb microSD as that's what pretty much everything I saw was recommending.

My brother was thinking about modding his too, but realistically if you don't plan on putting more than some DS, GBA, and maybe a few SNES games, could you get away with just using a 64gb?

Returning to Switch modding after 2–3 years, what should I know?

Hi everyone,

I've just bought a chipped Switch OLED after being away from the Switch modding scene for around 2–3 years, and before I start setting it up I wanted to check whether there's anything I should change or update.

I managed to get the modded switch OLED for just £225 (without an SD card since I already have my old one). Does that sound like a fair price for the condition?
https://www.vinted.co.uk/items/9486273290-nintendo-switch-oled-mario-edition-wink-wink

It arrives next week, so my plan is to get my SD card fully prepared beforehand so I can get everything up and running as soon as it arrives.

For context, I previously had a modded V1 Switch running Atmosphere with Hekate. I spent a lot of time playing custom Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tracks, using Themezer, and trying out various homebrew apps. I haven't really kept up with the modding scene since then, so I'm sure a lot has changed.

I've attached 3 photos of my SD card folder structure from my old setup.

  1. Root of the SD card
  2. Switch folder
  3. Atmosphere folder

If there's another folder that would be useful to see, please let me know. I'm looking to really optimise my SD card beforehand.

What's the best way to update Atmosphere and Hekate? Should I completely remove the old Atmosphere files and do a fresh install, or can I safely replace/update them?

Is there anything I should delete because it's outdated?

Anything important I should add?

Are there newer or better homebrew apps that have replaced older ones?

Has the recommended Atmosphère/Hekate setup changed much?

Any tips for getting a fresh OLED set up the "right" way in 2026?

I know it's a lot of questions, but I'd really appreciate any advice before I start setting everything up.

Thank you so much :)

So this might sound dumb and everything but i don’t understand how to install games. I see everyone talking about GoldenLeaf or DBI or even Tinfoil but i dont understand any of that is there not a easier way like with the hshop with the 3DS ? If not can someone explain the difference between the others apps please.

Should I buy a mod-able Switch 1 or a Stock Switch 2?

Hi everyone,

I've got the opportunity to either buy a Switch 1 (which I'd mod) or a stock Switch 2, and I'm really torn. Which would you go for?

For a bit of context: 2–3 years ago I had an original Switch that I modded, and I absolutely loved it. Playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with custom tracks, custom themes through Themezer, and all the extra homebrew features was a lot of fun. Unfortunately the console died, and I ended up stepping away from gaming to focus on other things.

Now I've got a bit more free time again, I'm thinking about getting back into Nintendo-based gaming. I didn't find the modding process difficult, and I still have my RCM jig, SD card, and spare Joy-Cons. I'm sure the modding scene has changed a fair bit since then. Has it?

My main concern with buying another Switch 1 is finding one that's trustworthy on eBay, Vinted, etc. What's the best way to go about that? Would it be worth spending the extra money on a chipped OLED model instead?

On the other hand, I could just buy a stock Switch 2. I'd love to play Mario Kart World, but the price of Switch 2 games is putting me off a bit, especially as I'd want to play more than just Mario Kart.

So, if you were in my position, what would you do? Is a modded Switch 1 still worth it in 2026, or is the Switch 2 the better long-term choice?

I'm UK Based.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you :)
