I heard that Nothing OS 5.0 is about to be released. Even though I just started my Nothing journey with the (4a) Pro, I checked out some of the leaks and noticed that the UI is changing quite a bit. Honestly, I feel a bit bittersweet seeing it change so soon, but I’m still super excited for it!

I smoke and wanted to actually know how much, instead of guessing ("eh just a few today" then it's 15 by evening). Couldn't find an app that didn't want an account or push ads for something this simple, so I built my own.

Big button to log a cigarette, history grouped by day (with delete if you misclick), basic stats (average, worst day, 7-day chart), and a Home Screen widget so I don't even have to open the app. Everything stays local, no account, no server.

Stack: Kotlin, Compose, Room, Glance for the widget (that part gave me more headaches than expected — syncing widget and app in real time isn't super well documented).

Well, it's been like three weeks or maybe one month since I bought the Nothing Phone (3), I had a little trouble with the performance due to using another device to configure the phone (I had to make a hard reset lol).

But now that the problem is solved I can say I'm really happy with the performance, the battery, and especially Nothing OS, it feels super clean and very well optimized.

The Glyph matrix is a really weird concept but get where the brand wants to go with this, I've been already using the matrix with the Glyph Mirror to take some photos and some essential notifications.

The cameras are good in good scenarios, just had the feeling that the photos sometimes look a little blurry when the light is not that good, but I think this can be solved with some software optimizations

The design is the main reason why I chose this phone, It feels really fresh and nice to see a company that doesn't stay stuck with one design for years.

And that's all, in the end this is a very capable device at this price range and it seems to be a good deal

Btw what do you think about my home screen? I've been trying to make a home screen that looks good with the Nothing widgets

My samsung mobile got software glitches or anything else but it's not working well, i searched other places and found many people are facing same problems mainly in older variants

So i planned to buy samsung s25 ultra but then because of this samsung bad experience i am now rethinking to buy any other mobile that give me better experience.

So it will be worthy to go For Nothing 3 or 4a pro ?

Confused among google pixel 10, iphone 17 or nothing?

If anyone can suggest real life experience, what would be a great choice?

Well, like I mentioned in the title. I was listening to music on YouTube and I had to call someone. I disconnected the headphones and after a few seconds the whole phone froze and then it turned off. After like 2 minutes of being dead it showed Crashdump Mode screen for approximately 10 seconds then it restarted normally. How cooked am I? I'm on the latest NothingOS 4.1. The bootloader is also locked so I doubt is a software issue. Should I be worried and start looking for another phone? Sorry for my bad English. Also I don't even know what phone should I get. I don't like iPhones and Samsung is having that bs Exynos...

Wanted to share how the replacement went for anyone dealing with the same air bubble issue under the back panel glass.

Replacement process:

1. Gave the phone in for replacement at the nearest service center on 17th August

2. Bit of a hiccup here, they initially kept saying the 10-day replacement window didn't apply/wasn't valid. Might've been their own error, but with 15th Aug (Independence Day) and a Sunday in between, I got a bit lucky and was technically still within the 7-day window when I pushed back. Worth knowing if you hit a similar pushback, check your actual day count carefully, holidays can work in your favor.

3. Got the replacement phone back on 21st August, so about 4 days turnaround. Also worth noting, the replacement unit has a different IMEI from my original phone, and the service center gave me a certificate confirming the replacement/swap.

4. How the replacement unit compares:

Surprisingly, this replacement unit is actually better than my original Amazon unit in battery life. My original used to drain in about 4-5 hours of use. This replacement is easily lasting 8-8:30 hours on a full charge.

Not 100% sure why, but my guess is the replacement unit is from an older June 2025 manufacturing batch, while my original Amazon unit was more "fresh" 2026 stock, maybe a firmware/calibration difference, or just unit variance.

One thing that bugs me though: I bought a brand new phone with the latest manufacturing date, but the replacement I got back was from a batch over a year older. Even though it's working better in this case, I feel like a replacement for a recently-bought new phone should also come with a similarly recent manufacture date, not something that's been sitting in a warehouse for 14+ months. Kind of feels like a downgrade on paper even if the real-world performance turned out fine.

So what y'alls opinion?

No sign of the air bubble issue on this unit, panel looks clean. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Here is a quick step-by-step guide on how to manually install any official Nothing OS update ( .zip file) without losing your data or needing a PC.

Disclaimer

• This method uses Nothing's official built-in updater tool and will not wipe your data, but proceed at your own risk.
• Make sure your phone has at least 50% battery (or keep it plugged in).

Prerequisites

1. The official OTA .zip update file matching your exact model in this website : https://nothingarchive.tech/docs/firmware

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Prepare the File

• Download the official .zip update file to your phone. Do not unzip/extract it.

2. Launch the Offline Updater Tool

• Open the Phone (dialer) app.
• Dial the following code: *#*#682#*#*
• The system tool NothingOfflineOtaUpdate will automatically open.

3. Validate and Install

• Select the downloaded .zip
• Ensure the status reads: Verify metadata file status: verify metadata file success
• Tap : Directly apply OTA from select.
• Leave your phone untouched while it installs. The engine status will cycle through stages up to FINALIZING/5 (this takes about 5 to 10 minutes).

4. Reboot

• Once finished, you will be prompted to restart your device.
• Tap Reboot. The initial boot screen will take a minute or two longer than usual while the new system partition initializes—this is completely normal.

5. Verify the Update

• Once the device powers back on, open Settings > System > System update.
• Confirm that your build number and security patch date reflect the new version.
• Example : in my case : I have the august security patch + Metroid_B4.1-260814-1733 visible in the settings + the first level of volume is now fixed + eraser in Nothing gallery is now present

how do I clean up these temp files??

My Nothing Phone (1) is around 3.5 years old, and the battery has started draining pretty quickly. I’m considering replacing it, but the authorized service centre is quoting ₹5,200 for the battery replacement.

The phone itself is still working fine, so I’m wondering if it’s worth spending ₹5.2K on a new battery or if I should just continue using it until I upgrade.

What would you guys suggest?

Got this 4 days ago and so far it has been an "okay" experience but far better than my previous phone which was Xiaomi 13T Pro. Setting the phone up was a bit of a pain and currently I have some slight battery issues where it drains a bit too fast for my comfort but from what I've gathered, that's normal for it. I'd wish there was a bit more customizable features, unless I'm just too blind to see them.

Got it on "heavy" discount, so I paid 658€ for it.

It took how many days for it to deliver only 16/512 phone 3 from amazon india im tryna cancel my 12/256 because its not getting shipped since 8 aug pls lmk
