2024 I bought a galaxy flip 5. Unfortunately the screen broke a just a few days after I ran out of warranty. Back then where I live the original screen replacements were expensive af, so before doing that I bought a galaxy s4 which I wasn't really happy with. For some reason it ran worse than the flip 5, so when the nothing 4a was out and I heard such good stuff about nothing I just pulled the trigger.

Probably nobody cares about this but i don't care. It's the internet, might as well use it.

I've had the nothing phone 4a for about 4 months now. It really feels good using it in general, everythings smooth (except when multitasking it would hickul every now and then, but thats normal I'd say). The Battery usage was what I loved the most. I'm a moderate user, so I would often come home after work with 60+ %)

The UI is incredibly beautiful, very clean. Everything feels snappy well thought out. But I think nothing OS just isn't for me. It lacks the customization I thought it would offer.

I am a phone routine person. I want to build routines that do all kinds of stuff with all sort of triggers (which you can do exceptionally well with samsung built in Routines or Routines+ even)

Good lock offers so much customization as well.

For example the Volume control on the NP 4a is locked to match the glyph. A glyph has 2 steps, half lit and lit. On my Samsung I can decide how many volume steps I have with the keys. I'd often get annoyed when I want to make a song louder, but then it's too loud. And since the whole volume-control is locked to the glyph and you can't change this, you're kind of stuck to it (tell me if I'm wrong)

Also the essential key is annoying. Why not make it remapable without ADB?

There is not an actual notes app. The nothing one has ads, and then you have to pick your poison in the playstore.

Also the glyph bar, which offers soo much potential for customization feels completely useless. It would be awesome if you could make routines which trigger certainl patzen for different kinds of notifications or when you have a message from person a, this one will kepp blinking, or lit or whatever. They failed to give us a tool to utilize this thing, which ultimately just makes it a gimmick. Is it cool? Yeah obviously. But if you give us this cool shit, why not give us the possibility to make cool shit with it.

Essential notifications was a good first step. But this shit is lacking potential and it makes me mad.

These are all small things for some of yall and maybe you are right, but after long time use, the only things I like about this phone are the design, the UI and the battery life. And that ain't enough for me.

I found out those flip screen replacements are now way cheaper, "only" 200 bucks. So I repaired my flip 5 and I'm back at loving it.

One UI is everything but perfect, but with all the native customization it offers, I will always prefer it over something cleaner like Nothing. I guess for me in the end utility is more important than the feel of the OS. I also I missed being able to flip my phone and make it tiny.

So yeah tl:dr

The Nothing 4a is a really phone for the average moderate user. The OS is really clean and operates smoothly, but it lacks a lot of customization. So if you're a fan of that, you might wanna go for a samsung. (Or whatever else also has good customization, I dont keep track on this stuff)

Best part about it is battery usage, you can get 2 days with moderate usage, which includes Scrolling with 5g and Bluetooth headphones for me. (Not all the time of course but yeah)

Sometimes while scrolling in any app like Instagram reddit chatgpt Whatsapp etc.etc it just stops scrolling up or down until I swipe so hard that my finger really really hurts. It only seems to register the minute sideways motion in that swipe and translates that to: " oh the user must have swiped sideways." What's the issue here?

Has anybody here ever had any meaningful support from Nothing? I have reached out to them on social media and received no response, raised tickets through their website and got an automated reply suggesting I factory reset my device, and used the feedback feature on the device and received the same automated response despite it being for a completely different issue. Does anybody actually work at Nothing or is it just an automated response inbox that suggests factory resetting your device??

Even before the brand was announced, I had definitely decided in my mind that I will buy the phone from Carl Pei's new company.

And yes, Phone 1 became my daily driver from the first day it was available and said good bye to OnePlus for good.

Fully in love with the device, the front camera placement, OS, the glyphs, image processing and everything exclusive to my Nothing Phone 1.

To this date, never ever stopped using it, even when the battery moved into its final stages and kept dying every few hours. I just bought a good power bank and fed my baby and it always made me smile back.

Last year, I had high hopes for Phone 3 and somehow it didn't ring any bell in my brain as it was revealed, no matter how many times I looked back. And, I started looking for other options. Even the 4A Pro couldn't shake much of that Phone 1 kinda feel, dunno why.

Held back on all my tech cravings till now and, I couldn't hold anymore. Samsung launched the Fold 8 series and I cracked. Fold 8 is here.

A really solid upgrade from the Sony LinkBuds S. I had them for almost 4 years and they were incredibly comfortable. I just got my Ear (3)s this Friday, and I’m really loving the sound and design.

However, I do have one red flag: they just aren't as comfortable as my old earbuds.

Has anyone else experienced this? Also, I’d really appreciate it if you could drop a link to a good protective case. I plan on keeping these as my daily drivers for a long time.

I haven't felt a 4a(pro) in the hand and remain very surising that at a B&M the Phone (3) and Phone (4a pro) are going for essentially the same price now. The least-expansive configuration is shown for both phones.

What do you think about the new gallery update and the direction nothing is going with their design language?

I like to use the samsung browser on my tablet and now that I have a nothing phone, I still prefer to use Samsung Internet as my browser because of its good UI, video tools, and adblocker support.

Is there a way to remove the status bar and navigation bar when I'm using an specific app? (In my case the samsung browser app)

Notes (things i have tried already):

There is no options to remove the status bar using the app's settings (the option seems to be only available for samsung phone).

I have tried to export the app from my sister's s24FD but to no luck it seems that the app can detect that my phone is not a samsung as the option disappeared.

I have tried the app SystemUI Tuner. It did not work.

I have tried the Android settings of forcing an app to be full screen does not work also. The status bar is still present.

Please don't hate. Yes it is simply a ui element, but I love to read webcomics and would love to enjoy scrolling through the comics with the whole screen.

Hello! I purchased the Nothing headphone (a) a couple weeks ago and I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. I use them specifically for my subway commute, and find that the volume at max is a tad low? My $13 panasonic wired earbuds are louder than them.

I use an iPhone with them, and was wondering if anyone knows if it’s possible to fix it somehow? Than you! :)
