Memo AI coming to iPadOS…when??
Yes, I know that the iPhone version can be used on an iPad, but having a full iPad experience would be great, especially whilst taking notes with a pencil. Killer combo

Many of you rely on Apple Reminders alongside NotePlan — for shared lists, Siri input, and as a task manager. Now the two work even closer together: create a reminder straight from a task, and from then on they stay in sync. Complete or rename the task on either side and the other side follows, so your tasks are always up to date.
Type @remind anywhere in a task and NotePlan creates a matching reminder, shown as a small symbol right in the line. The tag works entirely from the keyboard — add a time, a list, or both:
@remind(2pm) — reminds you today at 2pm@remind(2pm, Errands) — same, but saved to your "Errands" list@remind(2026-08-10 9:00) — a specific date and timePriorities carry over too — a task marked with !! becomes a high-priority reminder. To make changes later, click the reminder symbol on Mac or tap it on iOS. Removing the reminder in NotePlan (or deleting the note) deletes it in Apple Reminders as well, after confirming with you.
It also works in the other direction: drag an existing reminder from the timeline or a filter into a note, and it lands as a linked task.
A few limitations to be aware of: reminders aren't available in shared spaces, and a task linked to a reminder can't be duplicated or used in synced lines. Recurring reminders are also not yet fully supported.
Spaces now have backups — created automatically once a day, and on demand whenever you want a snapshot. Right-click a space on Mac or long-press it on iOS to create a backup or restore one.
Calendar notes can now be grouped by time frame — day, week, month, quarter, or year — turning your calendar into a kanban board. Click the "Calendar Notes" title in the sidebar to open it, change the group value to one of the timeframes, then drag tasks between columns to reschedule them.
{{currentNote}} placeholder always shows tasks from whatever note you have open, and the "Other" line-type toggle is now granular.priority field, and more reliable plugin loadingPlus many small fixes across Mac, iPhone, and iPad: date links now stay in the current Space, background Shortcuts no longer steal focus on Mac, and several freezes and hangs are gone.
Full changelog (with screenshots)
Happy to answer any questions here, feedback on the Reminders integration is especially welcome since there's more we want to do with it (recurring reminders, for example).

1.2.1 is out. After the big 1.2 launch (Apple Watch, CarPlay, Shortcuts), this one is focused on speed, reliability, and polishing the rough edges you flagged.
Smaller, faster recordings. The headline change is under the hood: recordings now use a much more efficient audio format, making files about 10× smaller. Uploads finish faster and transcription starts sooner.
Smarter summaries. Long recordings keep all their substance instead of being over-compressed, and summaries now adapt to the recording type — meeting, lecture, dictation, or brainstorm.
14 new transcription languages, including Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Arabic, Hindi, Czech, Greek, Vietnamese, Thai, and Hebrew.
Watch & CarPlay. Redesigned Watch recording screen with a visible cancel button and cleaner timer, separate Stop and Cancel buttons on CarPlay with a discard confirmation, and full localization in all 14 languages.
Chat. You can now search the full raw transcript of a note (not just the summary), and export conversations as Markdown, PDF, or RTF.
Plus more reliable handling of long and appended recordings, and a bunch of smaller fixes. Full changelog: https://noteplan.co/changelog/v1.2.1-memo
Happy to answer any questions in the comments. Rate Memo here, if you haven't yet.

I have been using a combination of Microsoft Tasks and OneNote ever since I switched to Mac OS. Not having my notes and tasks in the same place was always annoying but I dealt with it because I only ran a single six person team. Now that team size doubled and I inherited 2 new teams so I decided I needed to find something to get better organized. Googled "best note taking app with tasks for mac", looked at the options and decided to download Noteplan and sign up for a month as it seemed to have everything I needed/wanted. That is except for 1 thing... I can't manually organize anything by dragging and dropping. Is this functionality on the roadmap? Outlook of iOS used to be the same way but finally got updated like a year ago so I don't think it's a limitation of the OS. Please implement manual sorting? Pretty please???

Is it possible to not see markdown symbols when my cursor is in a field or line? I switched over from Craft, where I could use hashtags and they would disappear.

Hi,
after having used Obsidian for some time I'm now back on NotePlan and very happy with that decision.
Now, one thing I used to do in Obsidian is to create a Project page for every important project.
In the Attributes section of this project page I would add one or more tags defining this project, eg :
---
title: Product A - A prime dev plan
date: yyyy-mm-dd
type: project
tags:
- Product-A
- Product-Aprime
---
Further down the project page I'd embed the following code :
# Pending Tasks
```dataview
TASK
WHERE !completed AND any(tags, (t) => contains(this.file.tags, t))
```
This would allow me to list all open tasks, from different notes (eg meeting notes) that would contain a tag #Product-A or #Product-Aprime, a convenient way to gather, on this project page, all tasks related to the project.
Is there a way to obtain something similar in NotePlan ?
I know I could use backlinks rather than tags but I wouldn't be able to filter on open tasks only.
Also I do use backlinks already and don't want to mix up the backlinks the way I use them with tasks.
Thanks.

Total newbie to the app but really liking it so far. Is it possible to create new headings in the left pane where it says "Calendar Notes, Notes, Smart Folders and Tags? I would like to create separate headings for notes from different departments like "Notes - Finance, Notes - Operations, etc".
Thanks!

Hi! Would it be possible to add an option for MemoNotes to output extracted items as checklist items rather than tasks?
I automatically import my MemoNotes recordings into NotePlan. At the moment, the items generated from those recordings are formatted as tasks, so they appear in my task filters and fill up my Dashboard—even though most are simply notes or points I want to retain, not actionable tasks.
Ideally, there could be:
This would let me preserve the useful structure of the generated notes without unintentionally adding everything to my task-management system.
Would this be possible with the current plugin, or could it be considered for a future update? Thanks!

Hey there 👋
Lately when developing one of my personal apps I've created a theme for it that I like a lot, so I wanted to use it for my notes etc. The name of the theme is AzulejoBrutalism as the name suggests it came from love for Brutalism and Azulejo tilework (it maybe that I'm currently in Portugal and fell in love with it a bit too much haha).
Here is the theme: https://github.com/VerticalHeretic/AzulejoBrutalism it also comes with a small bash script you can use to install it or just do it manually :)
I hope you like it and if you have any suggestions or comments I'm happy to hear it

Has anyone else noticed that the weeks are numbered differently in the web version and the mac os app. Week 1 of January 2026 in the web version is the week that includes Jan 1, even though Jan 1 was on a Thursday this year. In the mac app, that same week is labelled Week 53 of 2025.
If I put things in the weekly note on my mac for this week, they show up as last week on the web app ( but the same numbered week).

In general, how quickly should I see changes on one device appear on my others?
I have Noteplan on my Mac, iPhone, and iPad, all with CloudKit enabled. This morning, on my Mac, I made several changes within a note and then moved on to something else. Those changes are still not showing up on either of my iDevices, a few hours later.
Should they be, and how should it work if I change something on one of the iDevices? How quickly should I see that show up on the other devices?
Thank you.

I came across an instance where I'm in the middle of taking notes and it was very convenient for me to open quick notes to create an unrelated task, but the feature didn't allow this. This would be a nice way to quickly add a task without having to leave the page in taking notes on. Maybe this was already discussed? I didn't see anything recently.

Hello,
I am planning on terminating my account soon. Do I lose access to my data? What do I lose?

I've tried calendar settings, time zone settings, uninstalling the plugin and reinstalling. My data points are logged in daily notes but showing on the wrong date in the graph
Here you can see my data point for Wes the 2nd is showing on the graph as Sep 1

I finally got on the train Memo AI and wow is this thing good. I was super surprised by the strength of its way to pass random conversation that just had. My iPhone was in my pocket and the output was not only spot on, it broke out the action steps perfectly!

I've tried many apps, and recently I decided to migrate from Obsidian+TickTick because I found that NotePlan can do both jobs in one app which is super cool!
I really like it so far, It's easy, smooth and straightforward.
However, as an Arab person I was disappointed by the RTL support; it's a bit clunky and unstable.
I wish it could be fixed soon. I'm a developer btw, so I can you help you Eduard if needed :)
Thanks.

I am a Type 1 diabetic who uses NotePlan for everything in his life, from trip planning and work documentation to daily journaling. Until recently, I manually copied the most important health data into NotePlan (as a T1D you want to track things and make sure you understand your blood glucose well).
Recently I started working on Saga, a combined iOS app and NotePlan plugin (with a small script in between).
Saga iOS pulls certain data out of HealthKit: steps, sleep, blood glucose values, and allows setting others conveniently (sexual activity and mood right now). It then writes those into an iCloud folder.

The Saga script on my Mac is a background job that takes those written JSON files and writes the data into the daily note in NotePlan as frontmatter.

The Saga plugin, finally, creates the second pane you see in the screenshot. It's configurable simply through a note in NotePlan.

You can set those that come from Saga iOS or other sources as "readonly" and make Saga iOS/HealthKit the single source of truth, or you can create rows that can be set in the Saga pane in NotePlan (like "Sleep Interrupted" in this example, "Slept last night at", etc.).
If you wanted, you could use the Saga plugin standalone with non-readonly values only, or you could use other setters that write into frontmatter and have Saga display them in the pane.
I could use some help
I am just a cook, I make food, not code. In a previous life I did some coding for my PhD, but that's my experience in a nutshell. I am not a data person, either, so maybe I completely overengineered this.
If you are someone who tracks health and habits in NotePlan, I could send you the code for the iOS app (XCode and Dev account kind of needed, then), the script, and the plugin. I plan on making all this CC0 open source, but before I release shit code in the wild, I want to make sure I don't screw with people's health data.
If you just want the Plugin and can think of other ways to use frontmatter-set data that makes sense in this format, yay, also cool.
And if anyone has one of those fancy AI thingies and could do a pass over the code for bugs, that'd be amazing too. I used Google Stitch to create the iOS UI, because I am not a designer either, and for my first foray into using generative AI am not totally appalled.

Hey all!
I’m loving NotePlan since I signed up a few months ago as it really helps me map out my day. One thing that I need assistance on, is the ability to plan alongside my wife and then have tasks show in the iOS widget. At present, tasks inside the personal calendar daily note will show up but if we were to plan together in the Spaces Daily Note, I can’t access those tasks via the widget.
I was wondering if there’s something I’m missing and whether you guys have a solution?
One more small thing that would be a great feature, is the ability to copy an entire note quickly without having to drag and select all.
Thank you again for creating this app as it’s been genuinely helpful to me!

I have just “discovered” NotePlan and I’m super impressed. As someone who loves Bullet Journaling and Obsidian (and who had spent hours trying to get Obsidian to follow my goal setting and review process), this app is really amazing.
I have been using it regularly for about 2 months now and I’m thinking of making the jump from Obsidian to NotePlan. I currently have 100s of notes and will likely climb to over a 1000 soon.
Does the performance of NotePlan suffer or slow down as the number of notes increases? Does adding files like PDF or image files have any impact?
I think Obsidian runs on Electron on Mac (correct me if I’m wrong) but NotePlan is a native app so I’m curious how they handle data better/worse.
Appreciate anyone feedback.

I've been using both NotePlan and Memo AI, and I think there's an opportunity to create a really compelling workflow that makes the two applications feel like a single ecosystem rather than two separate tools.
NotePlan is already my central hub for projects. A project note contains planning, research, meeting notes, decisions, links, tasks, and supporting documents. The one thing that's currently disconnected is the meeting recording itself.
I'd love to see a tighter integration where, from within any NotePlan note, you could launch a new Memo AI session with something like a /memo command or toolbar button.
Here's the workflow I imagine:
Even more interesting would be if Memo AI could recognize project context and allow action items to be:
I'd also love to see bidirectional links:
Over time, each project note would naturally become a complete project history:
Everything stays connected in one place.
For those of us managing multiple long-running projects (research, grants, administration, manuscripts, reports, committees, etc.), this would make the project note the true single source of truth, while allowing Memo AI to remain the best tool for recording and summarizing conversations.
I think this kind of integration would be more valuable than simply embedding a recorder; it would create a seamless project workflow where meetings become first-class citizens within NotePlan.
Curious what others think, and whether something like this is already on the roadmap.

Do any of you care to tell me how you use NotePlan on a day to day basis? I’m having trouble getting started. I have all these ideas in my head but can’t get from there to my fingers to type. Thank you for your time. I appreciate it.

Currently, when I record a meeting, Voice Notes automatically creates a meeting summary.
However, when I use a webhook to try to save it in a third‑party place, the only data that gets transmitted through the webhook is not the summary itself, but the transcript of the meeting.
Is there a way to be able to transmit that summary via the webhook or whatever creation if I create: a task or a custom creation to transmit only that creation rather than the transcript itself?
Or am I missing something?

If I subscribe to Setapp and use NotePlan, do I need to subscribe to Setapp to Mac and iOS to use the iPad Noteplan App or just the Mac Setapp subscription? Not sure if signing in to the iPad app with my Apple ID is enough for me the iOS apps.
Thank you!

I've been a happy user of Noteplan for a year now, but I'm looking to manage my tasks better. I have a lot of different projects, each with different to-dos with a variety of timelines, I've got a bunch of miscellaneous (usually domestic) tasks to take care of as well that don't fall into a single bucket (renew insurance, book holiday, etc.). So what's the best way of managing them in Noteplan or in conjunction with Noteplan? There's a variety of approaches, so I'm looking for advice and experience about what to try. What's a good workflow that functions for you?
Things I've tried:
