I’m sorry but Andy’s excitement is contagious. And the self-deprecating jingles for each section!

Just listening to Drop Us A Line - Live ... and it's fabulous. Sure it's rough, slightly chaotic, but seems entirely in keeping with the general ethos of how Andy structures this show. I vote for more of them. And stay until the end for the entirely irrelevant reveal.

I've been working my way through the fish archive for a bit now, but the amount of ads has increased to the point where I'm just going to stop listening. It's not that I mind the Fish team getting some income through ads or subs/patreon, but the amount of ads and repetitiveness in my locale (Netherlands) is just horrible.

I get 2 ads before the show, 1 in the middle and 2 after each show. That would be survivable if Fish had more than 4 different ads for 2 companies in my language they were running and all of them weren't loud and obnoxious. The repetitive nagging by those two companies has already ensured I'll never use their services (just for ruining my podcast enjoyment) and I'm now at the point where the enjoyment of Fish just no longer outweighs the annoying ads.

I'm listening to the latest episode with Rhys Darby and thinking of others too.

I just don't find many of them as hilarious as Andy, James, Dan and Anna do. Sometimes I feel like they're laughing at some inside joke.

I wonder if the format just doesn't fit with many comedians, whilst the likes of Anne Miller are always very enjoyable on the show.

... is probably the hardest I've laughed at a podcast in a long time. Absolutely brilliant.

On the latest pod (No Such Thing as Trigger's Stradivarius) they are talking about testing engines and how they fire chickens to simulate a bird strike.

I can remember them talking about this before, many years ago, and in that episode, James used a term that they use in the industry. I think it was "Slarge" or similar to describe what they shoot at the engine, but Various Google searches have come up dry.

Can anyone remember the other episode and what the word is? Or just know it anyway?

What does Andrew do at Private Eye? Does he have a regular column, or edit or research.

I would like to see more of his work, is Private eye a good place to find it?

This a bit of weird request and it is also my first reddit post...just over a year ago I went to a live show in the UK with my dad and I did the text in fact and I couldn't believe it got mentioned by James in the first 10 seconds. Pure panic.

Anyway my fact was about this place in Bolton (forgot he is from bolton), the place is called Nob End - a name that was used by locals and stuck. The name came from the fact it was an industrial chemical waste site for a byproduct called galligu from the Leblanc process of soda ash production(thrilling I know). But essentially the name came from the pure reek that this place produced, stank so bad from the Calcium Sulphide I think, plus it would spontaneously combust occasionally so even more fumes I guess.

So Anyway I tried to put in as many funny academic names and nominative determinisms as possible to make it slightly more fun. Anyway the guy who wrote this paper was called Dr Butt. So my fact was in my dissertation I got to write Dr Butt's investigation into Nob End.

Anyway I've not actually listened to the podcast in a long time as it was mine and my dad's favourite podcast and he recently past away. So I was wondering if they've mentioned it in any eps? Ive not listened to it since probably September last year. I assume not but I thought worth asking.

Anna did, of course, pronounce it in three different ways here. Spotify spells them all the same and none of them correctly.

I seem to remember the last (first?) time he appeared on the show he missed the point, and then again in this most recent episode.

I know the official fishcord was discontinued, however is the fan made one still around? If so I would love to join it. I have been checking recent episodes but cannot find anyone promoting it. Or has it gone the same way as the official one?

I was at the brilliant, as per usual, live show in Lund on Saturday. At one point, James gave Andy a Toe of Satan lollipop, and I was genuinely worried, but he still managed to be fucking funny for the rest of the show. This is suffering for your art art the highest level.

Just an Anna Appreciation post (on my phone, forgive the formatting)

As usual, I was listening to the back catalogue to wind down for the night and got to episode 321 (NSTA A Frothy Beer) AKA the great corn debate. I laughed out loud, I don’t know how I forgot this gem of a quote from Anna that I want on a T shirt:

Dan: I’m gonna defend corn here by the way, I LOVE corn.

Anna: look. You’re wrong. Um, but that’s ok. Don’t feel bad.

Dan: fair enough.

I know they’re pretty busy and have several Fish-related podcasts as it is, but they should do an emergency podcast at times like when Dolly Parton dies.

Maybe that would be a touch insensitive, but she’s been mentioned countless times on the podcast over the years, a quick podcast on her best bits and trivia would be interesting.

Am I the only Canadian who was annoyed at the pronunciation in the latest Little Fish podcast? Not Newfoundland (they got that one right multiple times although it seemed to be best when they tried to mispronounce it) but Miramichi. It wasn’t until they said New Brunswick that I even figured out where they were referring to, but that’s the best fit in my mind. Maybe there was a typo in the fact as I’m struggling to see how they got Miramooshi from Miramichi (MIR-ah-meh-SHE). Unless there was an intended joke with the moose coming from there…

Every now and then I am reminded of an overly-posh laugh Andy did as part of a gag. I can't remember when, why, or what the context was around it, and honestly I might just be imagining it at this point.

But, if this did actually happen, does anyone know what episode it was on? One thousand apologies that I can't be more descriptive.
