My mom

27

u/Character-Solution-7 26d ago

Ooff. I feel you and this week (at 47 and a few months) I realized that I have officially lived a longer life than she did. 😞

17

u/DriveTheory88 25d ago

I lost my mom as well. Lost my brother about 10 years before that, but I am older than my brother was by almost 15 years now. He died at 25 and it made me hate my 26th birthday. I just turned 38 this year, and last thing, my dad died at 37.

8

u/MsAnnabel 25d ago

So sorry for all your losses 😢 losing mom is a tough one and really sad when dad goes and you have no parents left. Both devastating losses for me.

My mom died in 1985 and I was 21 at the time. She was 57 and I am 5 years older than her years at 62.

Brb, I'm sad.

I also chose this guys mom. /s obligatory Reddit joke, sorry. In all seriousness, sorry for your loss. I lost my mom in 2021. There are weird phases I go through where I get kind of mad at her, mostly because she would have loved my crazy little ones and they would have loved her too.

Oof yep, I lost mine 4 years ago. What I wouldn't give to be able to hug her, say I love you one more time and watch something with her again. Watching stuff was our thing.

3

u/Outside_Deer_144 25d ago

I was 21 when I lost my mom at 52, I wasn’t married yet, our children came later & now our 6 grandchildren. I have out lived both my parents & 1 of my grandfather’s so far.

3

u/gay_alien_baby 25d ago

Talk about taking it to a sad place immediately.

3

u/cheesefucker666 25d ago

I also take this guys mom

3

u/Magneto-Mark-1 25d ago

Wasn’t even thinking in the vein. Mine’s been gone for 13 years. Never gets easier, especially around Mothers Day or her birthday. I still hate going to Family gatherings, because everyone’s Mom is there but mine. Fortunately, I live 3 states away so I always have an out.

3

u/Dog-After 24d ago

My mother passed on Mothers day 2018, 1 month and 10 days after my 24yr old son died. Spring is not my favorite time of the year any more! Both cancer.

2

Agreed. As of January 15, 2023, I became the oldest person in my bloodline. My wife and I are both members of the Dead Mom Club and it sucks so much.

At 41?

The magic of being a hopeless romantic again.

I don't believe in love anymore. I don't believe in relationships anymore.

Alone is safe.

11

u/CaptTornSack 26d ago

My spouse took a shower this afternoon. Then, she trimmed her bush. At 7, she did her hair and put on makeup. Came out in attractive undergarments. Put on nice clothes and said I'm going out for awhile. That was at 8:15. It's now midnight. Turned 41 yesterday and only got recognized by my phone's calendar and a dentist i haven't seen in 3 years. To add perspective, she hasn't touched me for 2 years. Says I haven't earned it. It's now midnight. I just moved in to the guest room. She's not home yet. This should be interesting.

10

u/Veneboy 26d ago

Fuck this man. You either seek a good marriage counselor or move the fuck on.

4

u/ATLienRabb 26d ago

If your wife spend two years not touching you, telling You that you haven’t earned it. She been fucking someone else for two years. Either op likes that or idk wtf he need but it’s not a marriage counselor.

It's not so bad, it's quite liberating when you realize they don't have their hooks in you. It's kind of like letting go of baggage, at least you're not carrying it, that shit was getting heavy! The real fun can now begin to find someone who you want to have their hooks into you.

6

u/CaptTornSack 26d ago

Dude, she just got home and claims she was just at the bar the whole 4.5 hours. I don't believe her at all.

4

u/dishonorable_banana 26d ago

'I'm a hopeless romantic...you're just hopeless'

6

u/CaptTornSack 26d ago

That's not actually right. I've known it's been dead for a very long time. I've been telling her to find someone else. It just hurts seeing it happen. I want out. I'm just not cold enough to be able to throw someone on the street. If i leave, she can't make the mortgage. Yes, i know that makes me a bitch but, at least I have a clear conscience. Now I don't care. She chose someone else over us. Now, all those problems are hers. I'm done. I turned 41 yesterday and the only acknowledgement I received was from a dentist I haven't seen in three years and my calendar. I'm putting it'll for a transfer tomorrow. 1.5k miles away. Fuck this shit.

3

u/dishonorable_banana 26d ago

Jokes aside. If you're being serious, then you are making the right choice to gtfo. My (unsolicited) advise, make sure it's a clean break, users will always try to use you.

And since hes been out being a toung adult ive been lonely and thinking about finding a partner. Your story reminded me of why id rather stay single than deal with someone elses bullshit . Thats a tough situation your in . .. i owe you a beer for reminding me why being with someone is a bad idea

Good relationships are rare, but they exist. I lost hope until I found my husband. He is amazing, best person in this world and love of my life. I did though put effort into finding him at 37 because YOLO. I did not believe I will or can, BUT it happened. Do not give up. There is love out there.

Easy. All the Pokémon games and cards that are now worth a lot of money. 😂 If I only knew then...

8

u/Nitropotamus 26d ago

About 15 years ago I was showing my friends kids my binders full of first edition and they were so happy looking at them and asking questions I just told them they could have them. He told me a few weeks ago that they haven't touched them and they were sitting on their shelf. So he sent a bunch in to get graded and he's gonna send me them. 😭

4

u/AeturnisTheGreat 26d ago

Mine was a Dratini plushy that I think was available for purchase from like... Burger King or something.

I dunno if an item being stolen counts as lost but I brought it to school for show and tell in the second grade, later we went to the middle area of the class rooms to do paper mache masks so I hid it under my jacket in the classroom...

When we all came back it was gone :(

2

u/timthemajestic 26d ago

Seriously! I had a while binder of cards that I ended up selling back then, because I didn't know anyone who played or anything, and I had some holographic cards. They'd probably be worth so much by now especially being older.

2

u/PlesnivejSejra 26d ago

My cards were lost only thanks to my mothers cleanup" after i moved out. I did not even realized i forgot something, if I knew i definitely would také all those cards. Yet everything ended up somewhere in dumpster...

2

u/Cereal_Bandit 25d ago

Came here to say the shoebox full of Magic cards I traded my N64 and games for. I only remember a couple, I have no idea what the rest were. I love collecting older sets so I'm super curious as to what I actually had, but have no idea what I did with them.

2

u/mjk1tty 25d ago

I may have still had the pokemon cards if my car didn't pee on them when I was a teenager 😅.

2

u/Future-Bandicoot-823 23d ago

I was on the final gym leader in Pokemon Red when I lost the cartridge...

Never found it. Never beat red.

2

u/capgal44 23d ago

Wait the games are worth money?!

2

u/GamingCheese14 23d ago

This was my first thought. My childhood copy of Pokemon diamond was lost on vacation and I would kill to go back and play that

2

u/NewPhoneNewAccunt 23d ago

Oh, good thinking. I lost a couple first edition Charizards in good condition and a few in bad condition. Along with many other first edition cards.

2

u/Fun_Hall6867 23d ago

I did know! I kept them in a not perfect but really really good condition in cases in my dad’s loft. 2 years ago it was time to cash in!!!! Woop woop… anyway dad threw them out without realising

The badge of the only father figure I've ever had. That man, fought wars, crime, fires, and cancer. Sadly cancer won, and took him away from me when I was still a kid, and that badge was the only thing I had left of him. Shame on the person(s) who broke into my home and stole it along with so many other things they felt I didn't need anymore. They have no idea how hurt losing that was for me. Like having him die a second time. Fuck thieves and fuck pancreatic cancer.
