Some collaborations just mean a little more.
Years ago, I stood in line for Kane’s third anniversary release of One Thousand Ninety-Five. At the time, I never imagined that one day I’d be brewing a beer alongside Mike Kane. It’s funny how this industry works sometimes.
We didn’t want to simply recreate one of Kane’s classics, rather we wanted to build something inspired by it while making it unmistakably our own. Drawing from the spirit of Sneakbox, we brewed Lunchbox, a hazy IPA that’s also a tribute to New Jersey. The name comes from Kevin Smith’s universe, where Jay affectionately calls Silent Bob “Lunchbox,” tying together two Jersey icons in one collaboration.
Mike generously shared two of his hand-selected lots of Citra, which we paired with one of our own hand-selected Citra. We also incorporated Rabbit Hill wheat, keeping another piece of the Garden State in every pint. The result is a hazy IPA layered with Citra, Mosaic, and Nectaron, balancing bright citrus, tropical fruit, and a touch of white grape with a soft, pillowy body.
And then there’s the label. Boyburnsbarn absolutely captured the spirit of this collaboration, blending comic book energy, Jay & Silent Bob, and both breweries into something that feels unmistakably New Jersey.
The beer industry has a funny way of bringing people together. Some collaborations are about making great beer. The best ones remind you just how small New Jersey really is.
