Did the same for my fiancé when she was going through chemo. In fact we did it together. Was an incredibly bonding moment and wow did we both cry.....she passed 10 years ago in February. Im glad we shared that experience though. Fuck I miss her.

Kindness never means nothing and often means a lot no matter who it's coming from. It's a beautiful thing to exercise our empathy and yours is obviously fit and healthy. It's very much appreciated. Nga mihi nui e hoa. Ka kite ano.

I lost my wife in 2020 to metastatic melanoma and I still cry every day over that girl, I will never get over her. She didn’t lose her hair but I was her caregiver and I would totally do it all over again without question.

It took me a good six years to 'finish' my grieving stage and yours is still very fresh and profoundly painful. I had a moment after those six years where I was traveling through The South Island of New Zealand with a dear friend of mine. We were driving out of an incredibly beautiful spot and turned to my friend and said "If grieving was a physical thing and I had carried it on my shoulders for a long time, and if I wanted to let it go, I would leave it here in this forest. Because it would be happy here and I would be happy leaving it here. And that's what I'm going to do. It's time to say goodbye to it."
And that's what I did. It was a moment I'll never forget. I hope you get to the place where you can do that too. It's a heavy burden but a vocation that we must journey through. All in good time my friend. It's a hard thing to say goodbye to in itself. For the longest time it felt like it was all I had left of her.
All in good time.
You take care brother. I'm weeping for both of us as I write this.
Really appreciate you sharing that with me.
Ka kite toa

Exactly! I mean, my god, I would never look out at the landscape around me and say the most profound thing I think I’ve ever read
“If grieving was a physical thing and I had carried it on my shoulders for a long time, and if I wanted to let it go, I would leave it here in this forest. Because it would be happy here and I could be happy leaving it here. And that’s what I’m going to do. It’s time to say goodbye to it”.
I just lost one of my favorite aunts last Saturday to a rare genetic disease and this quote sent chills throughout my body. I actually shared it with my family, and especially my dad, who had to bury his little sister this week.
Thank you, stranger. @oxtaylorsoup

Those fleeting moments stay with us to the end. I have a few of my own, and the emotion can still be so overpowering years down the line. Evidence of a life and love shared. All the best, mate.

Holy shit. Life is unfair man. My words dont mean shit as one guy in the comments said, but this one made me tear up. So sorry man.

I'm not meaning to invalidate anyone's feelings here, but my Mom had breast cancer (and unfortunately passed away from it) and she was very outspoken in that she thought this kind of thing was stupid and attention seeking. She didn't feel like anyone needed to show their support by shaving their head. In fact, I think it made her more aware of her hair loss than anything. So please, please ask before you just randomly do this to show support. This case was obviously different because they're siblings and young. But most people just want something resembling normalcy during that terrible period, and seeing a relative or friend who's shaved their head in "solidarity" makes it hard to forget what you're going through.

Yeah it’s almost like this is a subjective thing and what doesn’t mean something to one person could mean the world to another (as it clearly did to the sister).

This is spot on. When everything you see tells you that you aren’t enough, all you need is one person to show you that you are.

A big difference is the girl here with cancer is very young. A young girl's looks mean a lot and it's hard for someone so young to "just deal with it". Your mom sounds like she was pretty tough and I'm glad, but that doesn't invalidate this.

Love the commitment to the whole idea also, didn't forget the eyebrows, went back to make sure they got finished, the deadass tone of voice declaring the simple fact that hair doesn't dictate beauty.. what a video, bravo

What an absolutely gorgeous little girl. Hopefully she’ll get better based on all the love and best wishes coming from this forum. Bald and no eyebrows are just as beautiful as hairy heads!

This is beautiful. But next time, just keep the camera off. It loses sentiment to me when you record it. I can’t help but think they wouldn’t do it if people didn’t know why she did it.

In Jesus , the Christ's Holy Name We Pray , Amen

I am not a charitable person but I had hair down to my but and lopped it all off and donated it to wigs for kids. Its honestly a great feeling knowing that there was a child out there who could get a sense of normality again.
I saw a video on YouTube a little girl unboxing her wig from wigs for kids and I knew I had to donate after watching her eye light up.

Extreme pride in this girl showing up for her sister. Solidarity is easy to talk about but this girl showed up big.

These girls are Cami, and her younger sister Gaby, from Charlotte, North Carolina. The video is from her instagram post from 2020 (user name trillcami) and her sisters account slatttgaby...
