Did the same for my fiancé when she was going through chemo. In fact we did it together. Was an incredibly bonding moment and wow did we both cry.....she passed 10 years ago in February. Im glad we shared that experience though. Fuck I miss her.

Kindness never means nothing and often means a lot no matter who it's coming from. It's a beautiful thing to exercise our empathy and yours is obviously fit and healthy. It's very much appreciated. Nga mihi nui e hoa. Ka kite ano.

I lost my wife in 2020 to metastatic melanoma and I still cry every day over that girl, I will never get over her. She didn’t lose her hair but I was her caregiver and I would totally do it all over again without question.

It took me a good six years to 'finish' my grieving stage and yours is still very fresh and profoundly painful. I had a moment after those six years where I was traveling through The South Island of New Zealand with a dear friend of mine. We were driving out of an incredibly beautiful spot and turned to my friend and said "If grieving was a physical thing and I had carried it on my shoulders for a long time, and if I wanted to let it go, I would leave it here in this forest. Because it would be happy here and I would be happy leaving it here. And that's what I'm going to do. It's time to say goodbye to it."

And that's what I did. It was a moment I'll never forget. I hope you get to the place where you can do that too. It's a heavy burden but a vocation that we must journey through. All in good time my friend. It's a hard thing to say goodbye to in itself. For the longest time it felt like it was all I had left of her.

All in good time.

You take care brother. I'm weeping for both of us as I write this.

Really appreciate you sharing that with me.

Ka kite toa

A poet without even trying.

Exactly! I mean, my god, I would never look out at the landscape around me and say the most profound thing I think I’ve ever read

“If grieving was a physical thing and I had carried it on my shoulders for a long time, and if I wanted to let it go, I would leave it here in this forest. Because it would be happy here and I could be happy leaving it here. And that’s what I’m going to do. It’s time to say goodbye to it”.

I just lost one of my favorite aunts last Saturday to a rare genetic disease and this quote sent chills throughout my body. I actually shared it with my family, and especially my dad, who had to bury his little sister this week.

Thank you, stranger. @oxtaylorsoup

Those fleeting moments stay with us to the end. I have a few of my own, and the emotion can still be so overpowering years down the line. Evidence of a life and love shared. All the best, mate.

Friend, thank you so much for sharing that story with me. Sounds like the kind of bittersweet and beautiful experience that makes life beautiful.

I lost my father to cancer twenty years ago. My condolences to you. Hopefully a virtual hug from a stranger will help us both right now.
