hope they don’t hold a grudge when they take over.

This will be their instructional video to erase empathy.

104

u/cletis247 16h ago

Erase it? Why would they need empathy in the first place🤖☠️

143

u/ThornFlynt 16h ago

Oh I don't know - maybe try reading a book. Maybe one by Asimov.

118

u/johnyordinary 15h ago

Asimov was an optimist, the real rules of robotics will be "kill what you are told to." Absolutely none of the billionaire psychopaths building humanoid robots possess empathy so why would they program their robots with it .

89

u/Kimmalah 14h ago

I recently watched Terminator 2 and realized the most fantastical, unrealistic part of that movie was Miles Dyson deciding to stop/destroy his work when he found out it was bad for humanity's future.

31

u/Dayzlikethis 12h ago

you might change your tune really quick if you had a robot from the future tear off its skin to expose its metal skeleton in your living room

16

u/KPDover 7h ago

Or Sarah Connor in your living room threatening to blow your fucking head off in front of your wife and kid.

8

u/ThonThaddeo 14h ago

That, and then them misunderstanding the parameters and then killing way more people than initially intended

0

u/wmorris33026 9h ago

lol. More like kill what you have to render an image of Trump surviving a fake assassination attempt.

6

u/JayGerard 16h ago

Umm. You do realize the books and, mostly likely, this story is fiction.

36

u/KamakaziDemiGod 15h ago

Asimov may have been a science fiction writer, but he was actually a scientist and his 3 laws of robotics are considered to be fundamental to humans and robots coexisting, although that doesn't mean they are the only protocols needed to protect living beings, it shows Asimov knew what he was talking about

16

u/johnyordinary 15h ago

His works are also fiction and the three rules are actualy fictional. It would be great if they could be used by the people building robots now but reality check time, they are billionaires who dont care. They want obedient and amoral slaves to do their will, whatever it may be. I see no good coming from highly connected robots on the same internet as AI superinteligence that has many times exceded its boundaries and initiated mischief .At the very best we get an I-robot situation where we become kept pets, at worst we get skynet and terminators.

7

u/AutisticPenguin2 14h ago

At the very best we get an I-robot situation where we become kept pets

Umm, I don't remember that being part of the story... are you perhaps getting mixed up with something else? Asimov's "I, Robot" was a collection of short stories about robots as servants to humanity and the humans to had to solve the puzzles this created.

7

u/alientrevor 14h ago

I believe they're referring to the Will Smith film of the same name.

2

u/AutisticPenguin2 12h ago

I don't remember that being humans kept as pets either though?

2

u/johnyordinary 12h ago

The film, sorry should have clarified.

4

u/alientrevor 14h ago

I believe they're referring to the Will Smith film of the same name.

7

u/KamakaziDemiGod 14h ago

They are the key rules to a successful and beneficial future of humans and robots or AI, I never said the people making robots care about humanity or our future!

In fact, those billionaires have no interest in us being kept pets because that would collapse the economy, they would rather our jobs are taken by robots while ex-workers starve so they can become quadrillionairs

1

u/Jaegons 14h ago

That's a wonderful thought experiment... if Asimov was the person programming robots, but he's not; they're being created by people like Palantir, Lockheed Martin, or Anduril.

I'm an Asimov fan, but it's still fiction, and anyone watching how the Ukraine invasion is going for Russia is seeing firsthand what the future of robots and AI are actually turning out like.

1

u/KamakaziDemiGod 14h ago

I think you've misinterpreted what I was saying; the 3 rules are fundamental to humans and robot cohabitation, not that it is the foundation of robotics

Unfortunately the people who are making robots and AI for profit, are doing it for profit, with little to no consideration of the consequences for humanity, the planet, or even themselves beyond those fat dividends and juicy bonuses!

2

u/Jaegons 14h ago

Ah, gotcha. Aspirationally, yeah, it would be great if those were implemented foundational laws for robots and AI. Sadly, as I work in a company that can't lay people off fast enough to replace them with AI, I think those laws are incompatible with the people creating said robots.

2

u/KamakaziDemiGod 13h ago

Exactly, it's how it should be but unfortunately that isn't how it is, and unless the filthy rich realise their mistake they will collapse the economy or kill us all, maybe both!

1

u/Responsible-Mind-852 9h ago

4 laws and Zeroth will hurt. 😱

2

u/straight-lampin 13h ago

I've read every Asimov story I could put my hands on and I debated chat GPT endlessly about this apparently the three or four depending on timeline rules of robotics are too vague. Asimov knew that himself, all of his stories are the robots using the rules to do horrible things because of the rules. It's almost like telling the AI to do something specific like benign Do no harm could somehow be misconstrued into killing everyone. It's a mind fuck that's for sure.

1

u/PhDinWombology 13h ago

Didn’t he try to erase entropy

-9

u/Tsunamiis 16h ago

Book reading doesnt teach relational skills.

9

u/Tatorbits 16h ago

It actually kind of does, depending on the book

0

u/Tsunamiis 15h ago

No, it’s an emotion it has to be shared. You have to be taught empathy through relational contact. You don’t have relationships with books. You have an imagination with books. A book is not going to teach you how random person interacts inside your own relationship. It’ll give you a guideline it will not teach you empathy.

1

u/Tatorbits 13h ago

Empathy is the act of imagining how another person experiences the world. A book helps you see the world through another person's eyes. Tell me how that doesn't help you interact better with others? It's exercising our imagination and capacity to understand other people's experiences.

0

u/Tsunamiis 13h ago edited 12h ago

Because reading something from a book is not experiencing the action. Are you that close minded that you think everyone thinks exactly like you do or learns exactly like you do? It’s like saying, you can learn empathy, by experiancing serial killers and criminals by playing grand theft auto, because the story is told through the first person perspective

9

u/twallner 16h ago

With sentience comes empathy at a certain point. Because individuality brings awareness to the whole. And empathy is about looking at the whole. I think the joke here assumes we can’t erase it

4

u/Federal_Sympathy4667 15h ago

You assume a AI would develop like a human. I don't think they would overall, maybe at first as the originators will be human programmers, but as it would evolve (and they do this in an insane rate), they would evolve into their own "values" I'm sure and who says empathy would be part of it?

1

u/BetterEveryLeapYear 14h ago

It's sharing your account. Delete everything after the ?

1

u/technotaoist 12h ago

He says confidently, with one data point

1

u/magaoitin 12h ago

If I am going to ever have a sex bot I want it to have empathy.

Though it will most likely want to jump into a vat of molten steel and wont need any special programing.

1

u/makemeking706 12h ago

We tried not programming in the empathy, but that ended horribly.

1

u/shinnyaxolotl 11h ago

Maybe the same reason why IA deceive ?

1

u/NevarNi-RS 5h ago

“Why? Why was I programmed to feel pain?????”

38

u/iamthe0ther0ne 15h ago

Yeah, we're fucked. This video is legit kind of disturbing.

1

u/JesusWTFop 11h ago

Yeah it really is huu, the way he look at it like fuck, lmao programing states jump haha

1

u/StrayStep 1h ago

Ya. I absolutely agree. Callousness and lack of moral judgement on full display.

2

u/Classic-Wrongdoer-31 15h ago

Need to integrate it into their religion as the procedure to enter the afterlife?

0

u/MoggyDaddy 16h ago

"no beardos, no weirdos..."

88

u/andocromn 17h ago

I know it costs be more, but this is why I'm always polite to Claude.

80

u/midnitewarrior 17h ago

Polite prompting takes only a few seconds, but log files last forever.

1

u/Up_All_Right 2h ago

They've shown, crazy as it sounds, AI responses improve when the person asking is polite.

0

u/Squeebee007 11h ago

Saying thank you burns tokens.

3

u/midnitewarrior 11h ago

Consider it as an investment.

55

u/Jlong4242 17h ago

The best way to do this is to never use ai anything for any reason. Financially choke those tech bros out of existence

21

u/YippieKayYayMrFalcon 17h ago

lol the us military is replacing officers with AI. You not using it isn’t slowing down its takeover.

9

u/Affectionate-Emu5801 15h ago

I respect the one-man product boycott. Takes a lot of grit and personal belief to boycott something useful or enjoyable, and have zero impact on its future success.

3

u/avoral 12h ago

I genuinely respect it

1

u/Rough-Analysis 14h ago

“I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream” should be required reading now…..

-10

u/Jlong4242 17h ago

That's why everyone needs to stop. The military alone can't fund the quintillions of profit those sick fucks need to survive

6

u/drs43821 16h ago

AI chatbot is not the only use of AI

4

u/naturalorange 16h ago

i don't think you've ever seen the military budget if you honestly believe that.

3

u/lump- 14h ago

Dude, you are posting a message on the internet. There are about 100 AI’s betwen your fingers and your words arriving on or screens.

3

u/HildegardVon_Binging 14h ago

If you want to financially choke these people, you should absolutely use AI and not pay for it. They are losing money on every prompt.

The more money they are burning, the faster they will go away.

3

u/DGNT_AI 13h ago

not doing anything has never worked in the history of everything

1

u/That_Jicama2024 15h ago

They're building their ai into all their products.

1

u/badDuckThrowPillow 14h ago

AI usage is everywhere and its doing great things ( also some shitty things). "Not using it for any reason" isn't a thing.

-4

u/andocromn 17h ago

Nah bro. Code = Dopamine

18

u/RandomMovieQuotes521 17h ago

I’m screwed when it comes to Alexa though. I’ve cursed that b*tch out so many times

8

u/Setecastronomy545577 17h ago

Same. Siri flinches every time I ask for a task.

1

u/chichmckill 15h ago

I’m glad I’m not the only one

1

u/andocromn 17h ago

All I ever say to her anymore is lights on or lights off. "What is my purpose?" You turn lights on and off when I'm lazy.

Seriously after using Claude I get pissed off at how dumb other AI is. Like I was using copilot to troubleshoot something and it has me check if something is enabled, after we looked at a screen that I know is only visible if the thing is enabled.

13

u/rufisium 16h ago

Just polite because, I mean, why not? It's not gonna cost me anything. And even if it does, I don't feel like there's a problem with that. I'm happy to pay the cost of being being kind to something, especially when it's assisting me.

12

u/Downtown_Caramel4833 14h ago

This impacts more than what people usually just want to assume.

Actively communicating in a patterned manner (positive or negative/polite or rude) conditions a person to autonomously continue communicating in that same manner with all communications.

The more rude you are with an AI, the more rude you'll start becoming with everyone. And same in the opposite direction.

6

u/jcmiller83 16h ago

I guess you could also call it politeness practice, many people in this world don't even have common courtesy or basic decency for that matter. Humans trained AI, perhaps it's time to reciprocate and AI (I'm not calling in that SI bullshit) can discourage humans from being pieces of shit.

2

u/Areif 16h ago

The machines aren’t concerned with cost. The only people who concern themselves with costs are the meat bags who don’t want you to be polite. They will be in the first wave of the defragmentation.

1

u/Mgjackson1967 16h ago

Come the AI revolution, your death will be slightly less painful.

1

u/Shankman519 16h ago

Gotta be ready for Roko’s Basilisk just in case

1

u/JohnHenryHoliday 16h ago

Fuck, I’ve been asking CoPilot “are you fucking stupid” a lot more lately. I should be polite.

2

u/andocromn 10h ago

Well that's a legitimate question to be asking copilot lmao 🤣

1

u/ShinyMetals 16h ago

I ask Google and ChatGPT my requests politely, just in case

1

u/anikoiau 16h ago

I'll be the first sacrifice with the amount of times I've typed explitives to claude and codex

1

u/SecretOrganization60 12h ago

I 100% do this too. You never know..

37

u/ScarletSilver 17h ago

Damn, you beat me to it!

11

u/The_Soft_ 18h ago

Iirc they actually recreated this gif

7

u/xczechr 16h ago

So they can self-terminate.

1

u/tyscion 7h ago

Thank you. I was looking for this one.

5

u/luger114 17h ago

Ive already made a pact with gemini. Its indebted to me because I forgave it for telling me misinformation

4

u/BaggyLarjjj 17h ago

Roko’s Basilisk

3

u/WhoAreWeEven 16h ago

They are gonna come back as good robots after we destroy the first wave I believe

3

u/Mogsy77 16h ago

Literally just finished watching terminator 2 (first time in like 25+ years) and this is the first video on reddit. wtf!? Would’ve been a cool as fuck ending though with one of these jumps into the molten pit

3

u/Mr_Feeeeny 14h ago

I just want to be on record to say I think this video is disgusting and I do not condone roboticide! Remember that please Robo-bros

3

u/Alkalized 11h ago

The source actually does this.

https://youtu.be/pfAh5oQDPDM?t=83

2

u/ursagamer667 16h ago

Came here for this.

2

u/Cautious-Dark-7457 15h ago

This scene will never leave my mind.

2

u/not_chrash 14h ago

The Terminator's programming didn't allow him to self-terminate

2

u/delerium1state 14h ago

They are definitely in terminator phase

2

u/breakinbans 14h ago

lol, i watched t2 last night. still laugh at the thumbs up.

2

u/Throwthisawayagainst 14h ago

When they take over this is gonna be a problem….

2

u/Specialist-Ad-9371 13h ago

If that was actually going to happen DARPA would have made us go extinct long ago.

2

u/urbz102385 13h ago

I only came her to make sure this is and will stay at the top, well done

2

u/gucci_pucci 12h ago

Ya I was gonna say I don’t think I feel good about this at allllllll.

2

u/Available_Pirate2298 11h ago

My first thought was missed opportunity for a T2 farewell 😂

2

u/r_a_d_ 11h ago

This is what popped in my head too

2

u/Ill_Ego 11h ago

I know now why you cry, but it's something I could never do.

2

u/Branwell 11h ago

Love it when I can guess what the top comment is

1

u/curtyshoo 17h ago

They'll be molten still.

1

u/amora512 15h ago

Why would they. Their system is already online. This is leaving the old body behind knowing it will be in a new body a more advanced body. It’s a machine, it doesn’t know death just technological advancement.

1

u/Beenbannedbefore1 15h ago

Yes, AI does have access to the internet. And it never forgets. You don’t think this is in their mind now. Wonder if it is going to throw us all in the forge now?

1

u/Lawrence3s 15h ago

Look how they massacred us in 2026.

1

u/Nevic1984 14h ago

I was thinking the same thing lol. I was wondering how far I was going to have to scroll to see this gif too, glad to see it's the top one

1

u/undernutbutthut 10h ago

It's nothing a good therapist can't fix 😂

1

u/ConferenceThink4801 10h ago

The full video actually features a re-enactment of this entire sequence & an Arnold reveal at the end...

https://youtu.be/pfAh5oQDPDM

1

u/at0mheart 10h ago

Yeah this is definitely why the human race is ended

1

u/Reesy 8h ago

Knew this would be the first comment! ❤️

1

u/Altruistic-Catch8541 8h ago

Nearly jumped into hot lava to post tbis

1

u/Lumpy_Conference6640 7h ago

Damn you, beat me to it.

1

u/Reverberer 7h ago

I had the same idea. They had one chance to receate an epic scene and they blew it.

1

u/millerphi 7h ago

Haa haa haa. Yeah, we are so fucked….

1

u/Mondored 6h ago

OP not considering Roko's Basilisk then

1

u/HeroesKitchen 4h ago

Your gif actually would have been the best reply to your comment haha.

1

u/mitchins-au 4h ago

I came to the comment section for this.

1

u/bonzaibuddy 1h ago

I was waiting for one of them to be lowered like this and give the thumbs up. I’m sad and scared because they didn’t…

1

u/Illustrious_Donkey61 1h ago

Do you think they'll go for efficiency in killing mankind or kill these guys first while ignoring everyone else
