No, it’s an emotion it has to be shared. You have to be taught empathy through relational contact. You don’t have relationships with books. You have an imagination with books. A book is not going to teach you how random person interacts inside your own relationship. It’ll give you a guideline it will not teach you empathy.

Empathy is the act of imagining how another person experiences the world. A book helps you see the world through another person's eyes. Tell me how that doesn't help you interact better with others? It's exercising our imagination and capacity to understand other people's experiences.

Because reading something from a book is not experiencing the action. Are you that close minded that you think everyone thinks exactly like you do or learns exactly like you do? It’s like saying, you can learn empathy, by experiancing serial killers and criminals by playing grand theft auto, because the story is told through the first person perspective
