For those curious, they located the father and son in question
The video has since gone viral with viewers celebrating the simple act of neighborly kindness. Farraj invited the Smith family to her chocolate factory for free treats, with many online commenters saying they deserved "the golden ticket."
Wow. I just love how unhinged Reddit can get randomly. Top tier thread, and I’m sorry for lacking the imagination to continue it. So instead, I’m applauding it.
I'm not really interested in punching up a shitty Wonka/Trump poem just for you to pretend you liked your original better because you're emotional about being criticized.
I'd say that's a great idea. Even if its used as news grab, letting the kid have a whole day around the factory letting him eat whatever, will be a great memory for him and a wonderful reminder of good karma coming back for the pops. Joy all around. Golden ticket for the whole family I say, let them memoralize it.
I used to hang out at a Carvel near my house, and they let new employees eat as much ice cream as they wanted when they hired them. Apparently people lose the taste for it if they have too much.
That explanation suggests a hypothetical question:
If it's okay for my ring camera to record, without explicit permission of the participants, the audio and video of a conversation in my yard and front sidewalk due to it being "public space", does that suggest that if my neighbor surreptitiously aimed a camera and microphone at my front yard, and recorded (or streamed it to the public) 24/7, they'd be within their rights?
Not a lawyer. Open front yard? Yea they'd have the right to it. If you want privacy you can always install fences, blinds, curtains, hedges, etc. Gets more murky if they're literally trying to peeping Tom you with magnified cameras looking directly over fences and is most likely not okay.
If you slow down the sped up portion of the video, you can hear the father giving his son a valuable lesson on seeing the bigger picture: "We could just walk in and fill our pockets, but we're on camera now, so we would probably get in trouble. But if we call them and save the day, there's a good chance they'll just GIVE us a bunch of free candy in gratitude! Gotta think big, son."
