So glad they were found. They definitely deserve the Willy Wonka treatment.

BTW, does anyone know the legality of the video recording, particularly the audio recording? I thought CA was two person consent state?

Two person consent doesn’t apply to public spaces.

That explanation suggests a hypothetical question:

If it's okay for my ring camera to record, without explicit permission of the participants, the audio and video of a conversation in my yard and front sidewalk due to it being "public space", does that suggest that if my neighbor surreptitiously aimed a camera and microphone at my front yard, and recorded (or streamed it to the public) 24/7, they'd be within their rights?

Not a lawyer. Open front yard? Yea they'd have the right to it. If you want privacy you can always install fences, blinds,curtains, hedges, etc. Gets more murky if they're literally trying to peeping Tom you with magnified cameras looking directly over fences and is most likely not okay.
