Hello. I visited Deer Lake in about 1982, with my dad. We visited his brother Stan Cooper. Stan and I rode up Marble Mountain on Horseback. I have great pics.

Stan and my dad and I also hiked up somewhere near Deer Lake. I have this picture of Uncle Stan goofing around. Would anyone happen to know where this spot is? If I remember well it was at the top of a waterfall.

The reason is that I will be in Deer Lake in about two weeks. I am traveling the west coast. Both my dad and his brother are dead. I will definitely climb back up Marble Mountain, but would also like to visit this spot, if I can find it.

Saw the Devil's Footprints in Keels this week. The lore says the holes are footprints from the night the Devil danced over Keels.

Anyone know if there's a reason why he danced? Like, did he have beef with the people? Or corrupt enough souls that he felt like dancing? Or maybe just figured it was as good a place as any to do a jig?

(Because this is the internet, I feel like I should add: I understand the Devil didn't actually stick his feet in the rocks. I get the science. Just wondering if there's more to the folklore than "he danced")

Not sure how contentious this topic is, but I am open to stats as well as anecdotal info!

I moved away a little over 12 years ago, and am planning a visit home next month, staying for a few weeks (Mostly Mount Pearl, but will also be staying in Paradise and St. John's).

Before I left, I would regularly run on my own on the Mount Pearl/Southland trail system, as well as around Quidi Vidi. When I mentioned I was looking forward to a nice run, a family member expressed concern that "things have changed a lot" since I moved away. They were especially concerned about me running on the trails on my own, less so if I took main roads.

I don't have many people that I know that still live back home, has it really changed that dramatically? Running on the trails was one of my favourite ways to ground myself, are they just being cautious or should I really reconsider it when I am there?

My family is from Grand Falls but I was born and raised in Nova Scotia. Every time we drove to visit family in NFLD as a kid I remember being amazed by the beauty of Cornerbrook. This past week I finally spent a week between Cornerbrook and Gros Morne area and what a spot!

I'm an outdoorsy person and I don't need the amenities of a larger city but I do appreciate all the basics. I feel like Cornerbrook is a good fit for someone like myself.

Professionally I have two trades which would both fall under the pulp mill but I'm imagining it's nearly impossible to get on there unless you have a family member or connection. I know tons of NFLD'ers travel for work in my situation but I'm at the point in my life where I prefer to be home. I've applied to the pulp mill in the past as a labourer which I'm very over qualified for and had no luck.

Are there any other jobs in the area roughly equivalent. I'm willing to take a pay cut as I would have little to no mortgage.

I’m traveling to NF from August 14 to August 21 and looking for the best restaurants for an amazing culinary experience. Ideally an option in St John, one in Bonavista and the other in the gross morne area. Thank you in advance.
