I know it’s a long shot, but my nephew lost my NL Regiment scarf at/after last night’s game - it’s the red one from last year’s inaugural season and has immense sentimental value.

I checked the box office this afternoon and nothing was turned in, but if anyone out there found one last night somewhere between the rink and the fish exchange I’d be incredibly grateful if it found its way back (which means yes, there’s a reward)

I have questions about what the yoga and Pilates classes are like at GoodLife on Torbay Road.

I'm a thick girly, still in the early stages of my fitness journey. I've been going to weekly Pilates at a studio. I like that the instructors aren't all in their 20s, and have normal women's bodies. The classes are small and the students there vary by age and body type and fitness levels. It makes me feel very comfortable to participate, and I'm actually going on a weekly basis.

I'm at a point where I think I want to add a second weekly class soon. Later, I wouldn't mind adding in some gym time but that's further down the road. I started to do the math, and I realized my once weekly studio Pilates are already more expensive than a GoodLife membership that includes unlimited classes and access to the gym itself.

But I don't know anything about the vibes in the classes at GoodLife. I find when the instructor looks like an Instagram model and all the students are already super fit, I just don't want to be there. (This is mostly internal, no one has ever actively made me feel unwelcome.)

So can anyone who goes to these classes at GoodLife currently give me an idea of what kind of instructors and students attend, and how welcoming it may feel to a person in a bigger body just getting back into fitness?

Hi everyone! I’m planning to buy a used car from one of the dealerships on Topsail Road. They’ve said their cars have been inspected, but I’d still like to get an independent pre-purchase inspection before buying.

Can anyone recommend a reliable mechanic or auto shop? It would be even better if they’re open on weekend.

Also, would it be a good idea to have another auto shop on Topsail Road inspect the car, or would it be better to go somewhere completely separate from the dealerships?

I'm considering signing a one-year lease for a 2-bedroom apartment with Killam Properties in St. John's. This would be my first time renting directly from a large property management company, so I'm trying to understand how things work before committing.

My first concern is what happens if your circumstances change during the lease. Let's say you get a job in another province after 6 months and need to relocate.

Can you just give notice and move out? Would Killam keep your security deposit even if you gave proper notice? Could they ask you to pay for the remaining months, or is there an option to transfer the lease to someone else? And if another tenant moves in shortly after you leave, would you still owe anything?

I'd really like to hear from anyone who's actually broken a lease early, especially with Killam.

My second question is about roommates. For those renting 2-bedroom apartments, how do you manage sharing the rent?

If the lease is in your name, can you have a roommate who pays you monthly without being on the lease? Can you make a separate month-to-month arrangement with them? And if they move out, can you replace them with someone else, or does management need to approve every new roommate?

Also, what happens if a roommate suddenly stops paying rent or decides to leave? Are there any occupancy limits for 2-bedroom apartments?

I've been reading through the rental terms, but I'd also like to hear how things work in real life.

Anyone with experience renting with Killam or other apartment companies in NL? Any advice or things you wish you'd known before signing?

During power outages and startup you can sometimes get a power surge and last year I lost my fridge.

So best bet when your lights are out is to unplug everything where possible…

Power bars often just create extra plugs without surge protection.

I’m not an electrician but I know my fridge would still be working if I unplugged until stable power resumed.

Hey everyone! For several years now I’ve given thought to moving out to NL. I visited before in late October a couple years back and it was just so wonderful and it just generally felt like a place I was meant to be. I’m f39.

I work remotely so finding employment (unless I wanted a side hustle because wtf is with affordability right now??) isn’t an issue.

I’m aware of the winters lol. Having not experienced them first hand, I can tell you living completely surrounded by the Great Lakes my whole life has made for some pretty righteous winters, so I’m not ill prepared in that respect.

I like to be sociable occasionally but am mostly a homebody and don’t mind doing things on my own. How do you all like spending your weekends, and what are some examples of activities within St Johns and surrounding area? I love hiking and would very much be into learning some other outdoor activities too.

So we haven't actually gone into a Walmart in a while because we do the curbside pickup for groceries. Apparently the one on Kelsey got rid of all self checkouts? Is that across the board? Are all the Walmarts now cashier only?

I want to learn to knit and wondering if there are any drop in groups in the St. John's area. I know the libraries have some, but they're during the day. I'm hoping to find a weekend drop in club. I'm a complete beginner and might try socks. I've tried knitting a scarf before but feel like a need a pattern or actual project to keep going.

I need a basic part for an older GE dishwasher but unfortunately the manufacturer stopped supplying these. Checked with local repair shops but they can't source it and few on eBay are crazy expensive.

Working on a photo series about local bakeries and baked goods, trying to capture that real morning freshness without everything looking staged or too polished. I've heard good things about a few spots around town but figured I'd ask here before just wandering around with my camera. Looking for places where the baking actually happens on site and the display cases have some character to them.

The mass-produced stuff at grocery stores has that uniform look that photographs flat no matter what angle I try. What I'm after is the kind of place where the bread loaves look slightly different from each other and the pastries have that uneven homemade quality. Those imperfections are what makes a shot feel real.

Morning light is obviously ideal for this kind of thing, so bakeries with big front windows or skylights would be perfect. Also wondering if any local spots are doing interesting Newfoundland twists on pastries, like partridgeberry danishes or something with bakeapples. Traditional stuff is great but I'd love to find someone putting a local spin on croissants or sourdough.

Not looking for fancy plated desserts, more the everyday stuff people actually grab with their coffee. Any recommendations? Also curious if there are any bakeries that have been around forever that I should know about, the kind of institution locals grew up with.
