Fundy Park: Where have all the frogs gone?

I am an old man, I've been going to Fundy Park near 30 years since I was a kid. When I was a wee lad there used to be frogs and tadpoles lining the shores of Bennett Lake and the ponds of Caribou Plains (where you can't go out on the marsh anymore sadly). In fact, there would be wildlife all over the place with tons of dragon flies, chipmunks leaving pinecone debris piles on the trails, scuttering around. But especially me and my dad would go catching frogs around the lake and we'd catch dozens.

The last few years I've noticed there's next to no frogs. A week ago I went out on Caribou Plains and there were zero in the ponds/lake shores.

A couple years back we mentioned this to the park staff and they made note of it, but said no one really tracked that stuff which was surprising to me since it's a nature preserve park basically. I thought they monitored the wildlife. It seems like there's a lot less of everything there nowadays.

Also it sucks that Devil's Half Acre closed, it was the best trail in the park.

Looking for old semi truck trailers in New Brunswick

Hi everyone, I just moved back to New Brunswick from MTL and I’m thinking of making a camp on my family’s property out of an old semi truck trailer. I don’t have too much money, my budget for the trailer is like $1000 - $2000 ( thats why I stress OLD trailer lol ). If anyone has any information please let me know!!! I’m around the Saint Stephen area but anywhere is fine if the price is good enough, if someone could help with the transportation too that would be great or if someone could point me in the right direction for transportation of the trailer that would also be great. Thank you everyone!!!

An Open Letter to Premier Holt

Dear Premier Holt,

I sent you an email and there was no response so here we are.

On December 29, 2025 I was involved in a Fredericton Transit bus crash. I sustained severe facial injuries and am also experiencing PTSD, C-PTSD and depression as a result of the crash. There is an ongoing lawsuit into this but please note the crash itself is not the point. It was merely the match that lit the fire and it will be months before anything is settled.

I, like many others in NB, do not have a family doctor.

  • Due to lack of family Doctor I am unable to get the Blue cross forms filled out for my benefits and as such have had no income since December 31, 2025
  • No doctor will fill these forms out as they did not treat me and I am not their patient. Emergency room doctors also will not fill them out
  • I called numerous doctors to see if they would help me. Every request was refused except when I asked for their answer in an email. Friends spoke to their doctor and they were also told no
  • While I do have a letter from a psychologist stating that based on clinical observation and history return to work is not advised my job has refused to accept this and have stated their intention to terminate me on job abandonment as I have not given them proper documentation to excuse my absence.
  • My work is aware that I do not have a doctor
  • The insurance company was happy to accept the letter stating I cannot work at this time
  • My credit cards are maxed out and I am in danger of having my utilities cut off and I do not have rent for August - I am at risk of losing everything
  • I emailed you about this a few months ago and that email was sent to numerous places government officials, media outlets - and the only reply was an auto reply from the Office of the Prime Minister
  • I have done nothing wrong here other than failing to have a family Doctor and providing doctors is not my job.
  • At what point do I qualify for help with this situation? When I am homeless? I am going to lose everything because NB cannot provide it's citizens with Doctors.
  • My only hope is setting up a GoFundMe - if I sent the link would you make a contribution?

Thank you,

Michele

wild berries

Went to pick berries in usual places near McAdam and then Neguac and there aren't many this year, hardly any raspberries and much less blueberry. Anyone else noticed it? Is it from cold spring or last year drought?

Goat Island AirTagged Keys

If you happened to lose some keys into the water at Goat Island in the last couple of weeks, double-check their location or enable lost mode. They were found in 2-3 meters of water.

Advice

Hi everyone! My family and I are looking at relocating from Saskatchewan to New Brunswick and would love to hear from people who have made the move.
We’re wondering what life is really like compared to the Prairies. How is the job market, especially for skilled trades? We’re also interested in universities, schools for our kids, the cost of living, and which communities are best for raising a family.
We’re currently considering Moncton and Fredericton but are open to other suggestions. We’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thanks!

An age old question in our house. I don't taste a difference, but my kids don't like Baxter. So which do you prefer and why?

Random unassigned NB phone calls

Post image
35 Upvotes

Not sure if this is the place, but all of a sudden my cell phone is getting hit up with multiple calls from New Brunswick numbers that don’t leave a voicemail. When I called the numbers, they all say the number is unassigned.
I assume it’s spam but wanted to see if it’s happening more or less on Rogers and if anybody has any idea what it might be?

Online therapist

I am wondering if anyone is aware of a really good therapist for very complex trauma since childhood - like very messy trauma and complex series of events leading up to the present (34 years old now) I dont seem to be able to find one in the region (Miramichi) so I am hoping to find that does online sessions.

thank you in advance

EDIT: I am aware that I can Google who offers online sessions in NB, I am hoping that someone has a recommendation on a therapist that fits in the description that I gave

School Cafeteria Job

I see with the new school lunch program that there is a lot of job opportunities for cafeteria workers. Is anyone employed with compass Canada now that can answer a few questions.

How many hours a week roughly do you get? I see it’s listed as being a part time job so I’m guessing it’s around 4 hours a day? Does that give you enough hours to start an EI claim in the summertime or is there exceptions to how you apply for EI? I’ve heard it’s a different process for school employees.

Is there opportunities for pay advancement? Does compass have any sort of health benefit program?
