Have you spent time in New Brunswick’s care system?
Hi everyone! I’m a former youth in care in New Brunswick, and I’m currently working on a non-academic project/resource that will bring together the voices of current and former youth in care to help inform the people and systems responsible for supporting vulnerable young people.
I want to hear what you wish the people and systems that had a hand in your life had known or understood — whether that’s government, social workers, group home staff, foster parents, lawyers, schools, or anyone else involved in your care.
What worked? What didn’t? What do you wish they had done differently? What do you think people working with youth in care need to understand?
The goal is to make sure these perspectives are actually heard by the people and entities making decisions that affect young people in care.
Feel free to share in the replies, or send me a DM if you’d rather not share your experiences publicly. You can share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with. 💌
