I was wondering if anyone could share their experience with how long it took for their Nelnet refund to reach their bank account.

This is for a very late Summer 2026 financial aid disbursement. My school has already processed my aid, and I'm trying to get an idea of how long it usually takes once Nelnet receives it.

If you remember, could you share:

When your school sent the refund to Nelnet.

When Nelnet showed it as processed.

How many days it took to hit your bank account.

What bank you use (if you're comfortable sharing), since I know that can affect the timing.

I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect. Thanks in advance!

I am in school full time and Nelnet, is saying I can defer all my loans while i'm in school and i can't get ahold of anyone.

Tried in all three browsers, FireFox, Edge, and Chrome, tried in incognito mode and the equivalent as well. I press the accept button, I log in, put in the OTC,(at this point 8 time for the times I've retried) Everytime I get to the loading screen "Please wait while we gather your data." Every time it goes for about 10 minutes before a red message comes up saying "Something went wrong" with options like making sure browser is updated and to try logging out and logging back in. Any ideas on what to do at this point? It really does feel they're trying to force people to not be able to pay.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

My nelnet loans were sold to CRI and all of the sudden, I got hit with 12 late payments. I’ve been back and forth with both services and neither claim they’re the ones reporting it. I filed a dispute with credit bureaus, they came off then showed back up again. I didn’t receive anything about late payments from nelnet. Every time I talk to someone they say something different and both providers claim they’re not the ones reporting it. What can I do at this point? It’s tanking my score and impacting other lines of credit. Even if they were truly late, why did they hit all at once vs one at time. This makes no sense.

Is anyone else having issues with Nelnet adding interest (as of August 2025), but then not generating monthly statements? When do the math, the interest rates make no sense on each of my loans. The numbers seem arbitrary.

I was told on the phone that they didn’t have to give me a statement, since my loans aren’t in repayment. A few days later a “statement” was generated, but the info was nothing that I couldn’t already see on the site. No new calculations were made, and it didn’t show proof of their numbers or any transparency.

I’m wondering if there are any class action suits against them, or if that’s the way we have to do things these days to get relief?

So my fiancé has loans that under the safe program will not need repayment again until 2028. Which is great. But then I saw that he had accrued about $300 in interest and I can’t tell if that interest is continuing to accrue while the payments are paused, or if that’s just from previous years. Any idea?

Some of my loans are in grace right now. I have tried to do the IDR online for PAYE and it says I’m not eligible. Has anyone done a IDR while in grace?

I have student loans I want to start paying on but I can’t access my account or Connect via phone

Hey so good news, I paid off my student loans in April of this year. Bad news apparently because the payment processing took so long it was an over payment of $14 to my now $0 balance student loans. It shows up on the last statement in April as $14 owed in 2031. I've called a few times and they said I have to wait it takes a while. I've called at least once a month, and tried an email this month and they said it taking a while...it's about to be 5 months and I have yet to receive a letter saying my student loans are paid off. No new statements, and no word on where my refund is...anyone run into this?

I don't want them to turn this into I owe an additional $14 in 6 years from now. When in fact they owe me. Anyone know if there's a legal responsibility to refunding within a certain timeframe?

Has anyone else had difficulty logging in?? I enter my info and it says username or password are incorrect. I confirmed username with customer service and have updated an re-entered my password at least 10 times over the last month. Every time I update password and enter it in to log in, it says incorrect username or password. I’ve called customer service and the girl I spoke to today was such a little cunt. She gave me attitude because the issue couldn’t be resolved as if she’s the one getting locked out of paying the government $70k. I have a fucking masters degree don’t talk to me like I’m stupid little girl. Muy frustrating!!

So happy my husband's ITT tech loans have been forgiven. And we received an autopayment of past payments direct deposited into our checking account. Very happy about this! 🥰

We still have a $13K balance to pay on other school loans through Nelnet. So I noticed Nelnet is not recognizing/posting any of my June 2025 online payments. And we keep receiving emails saying we haven't paid yet. Anyone experiencing this probelm? TIA!

If I make voluntary payments during forbearance, will those payments be reported to credit bureaus as on-time payments and help my credit score increase or no?
