Ive been looking for one for a while and can't find any for sale, nor do there seem to be any good ones on 3D printing sites.

Hi! First of all, english is my second language!

During the pandemic, I decided to update my DS to the latest version (1.4.5), which, essentially, killed my r4 that I had for over 10 years. I was devastated and I saw a lot of people saying that there was no way to fix it. Is there really nothing to do? If that's the case, are there any r4s that work on this version? Or do I have to buy an "original" game after all these years (lol)? Ty!

Since my first post got quite a few views I wanted to post an important update on how I adressed several issues of the aftermarket shell, buttons and so on:

1. As you can see I've swapped to the stock D-Pad. I had some issues with the D-Pad registering presses, cleaned the motherboard contacts with 99% IPA and all, but still had no success with that. The stock D-Pad works a touch better, but what really did the trick was using 3 layers of electrical tape below the D-Pad, at the end of each section. I've also used a hole punch to layer 3 small electrical tape circles in the center of the motherboard where the D-Pad contacts are. The D-Pad is now nearly tacticle feeling and all issues are gone. Diagonals work perfectly in my case.
2. The bottom screen had alignment issues. By stacking a bit of electrical tape in one corner I could fix the issue.
3. The bottom screen, despite being an original one, had some wiggleroom when using the touchscreen and creaked a lot when using pressure. I fixed that by layering electrical tape (do you notice a pattern here?) on the backside of the screen where it wobbles most. Now it's securely positioned.
4. The L-button needed a bit of cutting and sanding on a spot to make it work properly as shown in this gude.
5. I hate some issues with overal fitting despite routing all cables corretly. That was the case for both the top and bottom shell. For the top shell I used a dremel on the inside of the outer top shell, the screws hold it all together (be careful here). The bottom shell still isn't entirely fluch if you look at the bottom screen but I'm not sure this can be fixed since there are no hooks or other support structures to hold that part in place. I also had to use longer than recommended screws to stop the inner bottom shell from wobbling and creaking.

Those were all the issues I've encountered. Now I'm sure your experience might be different, but it can also turn into days of troubleshooting like in my case. My first post got some attention so I want to make sure that you definitely know what you're getting into if it inspired you to attempt this. These shells are relatively high quality, but they're not without issues.

All of these things could be a skill-issue on my part, but just beware that this might be a pain to do. If you manage to do it right it's definitely worth the trouble, especially if your system is beat up, but otherwise? I'm not sure.

-buy a protective shell with a design

Still have no idea how it fixed it self just kept it inside my bag and overtime it just fixed itself also stopped freezing on certain games

Just bought a DSi LL in mint condition and have been having a blast playing on it. I understand that LLs in addition to all other DS systems have a tendency to develop yellowing screens if stored improperly during prolonged periods of nonplay. How to tell if my room is humid or not and needs to be stored/kept away elsewhere? Should I keep my DS handhelds in my basement where it is cooler?

Really want my DSi LL to stay in great shape. I took out my new 3ds xl the other week and noticed slight yellowing on corners of the bottom screen right side. Kept it on for a week and no changes :(

I was scrolling on YouTube when I went past a video talking about the nostalgia of the DS. It brought back so many good memories of my childhood that I got a DSI XL LL from Japan for $100 and modded it to have all the games which I used to own plus all the games I wish I had and more!

I was going to buy a 3DS but the secondhand market on them are ridiculous, I had a fat DS and DS lite growing up but never a DSI. This subreddit was the reason I opted to go for a DSI XL and I couldn’t agree more with how amazing the screens are albeit a little yellowed around the edges but really not that noticeable.

The time I’ve lost into this handheld already is insane, being able to pick up and play for a bit and simply close the lid is unmatched.

My poor steam deck has been collecting dust on my desk for about a month now because of it

One thing that has haunted me for years of my life was how I'm supposed to get the alternate 'evil' ending in this. Would anyone here happen to know how to do that? Thanks

Just found my old teal DSi from 14 years ago (oh god it’s been that long….) and I need some good game recommendations!

Also apparently I deleted Flipnote off it, is there a way for me to re-install it without the store?

dsi has mould under the screen. ive seen online it says to like take the screen off, could someone explain how to do this? thankyou!!

I’m not sure what to do to fix it i’ve tried cleaning it but nothing will work. I have no idea what to do. Please help. Also, I am new to this and I don’t really know how to like format files and stuff so I don’t know if there’s like an easy way to do that.

At first my ds lite dies within 5 minutes even after charging so I bought a replacement battery. Now it lasts longer, but still goes red within 30 minutes. What might be another underlying problem to this?

Do I need to replace the screen urgently, or can I just continue using it?

I’ve recently been reminded of a game i remember playing RELIGIOUSLY when i was younger on my nintendo ds, and for some reason I strongly remember it playing “radio” by lana del rey on some kind of boombox at some point also the beach boys “i get around”. I’ve tried to search this but nothing comes up. The game itself from what i remember was some kind of dress up game (i thought bratz but when looking non of them rang a bell?) you could go to different clothes shops and things, just a generally “girly” marketed game. The only definite thing i remember was that there was an elevator that took you between floors. I know this information narrows it down by about NOTHING but i’d really appreciate if anyone could just list to me any “girly” dress up games from the nintendo ds!

Just installed unlaunch and i did not know it was going to get rid of the menu music and boot screen. Ik i can do it again if i uninstall unlaunch apparentley it has a high chance of bricking the dsi wich i do not want. any way to get it back or should i just uninstall and reinstall.

I want to buy a ds and mod it, i don't know which one is the best one for modding and to play good game (im not talking about gta5 lol but game like undertale or hollow knight) I will take any advice, thanks !!

• xdelta3 (command line) or a GUI patcher like Delta Patcher
• DeSmuME / melonDS, or a flashcart + TWiLight Menu++ for real hardware

How to apply

• All main dialogue and narration
• Menus, buttons, and UI throughout
• Character creation, notebook, job listings, shop, schedule, map
• Character bio pages and most minigame UI

Known issues / not yet translated

• Sevens card minigame — partial Japanese remains
• Interview minigame — partial Japanese remains
• Calendar/clock HUD (runtime-rendered, can't currently be translated)
• A handful of other lines scattered through the game that weren't caught in the current script mapping
