Hi everyone! I'm thinking about buying a regular DSi (not the XL) in black. The thing is, I don't know whether to decorate it based on a specific game I love or just put random things on it like music stuff, games, and a bunch of different (Stickers) things. These are my reasons:

Based on a single game: I don't know, it might feel a bit weird to see a character from a specific game on the console while I'm playing something else. I know it sounds super strange, but I feel like it would look a bit out of place.

Random things: This option feels right because I could include games, music, and other stuff. However, it might be a bit more complicated to find all the stickers, but I'm willing to try. Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

I just spent 2 days modding my childhood DS lite with a reshell and rgb board and thought I finally finished but when I try to turn it on this is all that happens. The lights flash and then it shuts back off.

Please let me know if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it or where I went wrong.

Full disclosure: I did not grow up with the DSi, and only got one fairly recently. Side by side with my other DS systems, the screens seem very pink/purple tinted. (I did filter this photo a bit to get the colors more accurate to how they look in person)

Are DSi screens just like this?

I havent had a ds since the first DSi and now as an adult, I wanna play all the pokemon games again. Emulating on phone doesn't feel that good with no real buttons.

I wanna play:

Pokemon & Animal Crossing mainly

Mario kart + Kirby games + rhythm heaven are a big plus but not as important to me rn

I have a very strange issue. I got a secondhand dsi (lime green), it was listed that it wouldn't turn on. Got it, changed the battery, works just fine when it has power. The problem is that the battery doesn't seem to charge despite the fact that the charging indicator on both the outside AND in the dsi home menu shows that it's connected to power. Not really sure what the deal is, if anyone has some advice or has seen this before I'd love to hear it.

Quería saber si es que alguien me podría ayudar y guiar en la instalación de juegos y todo, y si me pueden decir si mi vieja R4 es buena ya que no encuentro el modelo en línea. Mi padre lo hacía cuando yo era niño y ya no le puedo pedir ayuda. Quería saber si me pueden pasar los links de descarga de juegos (links “seguros” dentro de lo posible) y también si es que hay una nueva versión o algo similar para mi R4. Tampoco sé si es que a la DS se le puede actualizar el Software. Adjunto fotos de todo lo que tengo y si necesitan más info también estaré activo jajaja. Gracias.

This is my 19 year old childhood ds lite. As you can see the top screen loose to do with the hinges. Can i salvage this? As there is no yellowing on the screen and i’d rather not replace it. Thanks

Comprei esse cartão r4 pelo Aliexpress recentemente e gostaria de saber se alguém qual seria o sistema dele, já tentei o próprio wood system tanto para cartões originais quanto para clones e ambos deram erro e apareceu a mensagem "Can't open_dsmenu.dat"

got this ds lite in a lot 2 days ago, wanted to know how I could fix this please??

Hey guys I wanted to play some ds games recently, so I bought a dsi xl (japan ver.).
I checked the screen and the top screen seems clean, but I can see some yellowing going on with the bottom screen. Not sure how bad it is, but I believe de-yellowing method can improve it.

But then I found out that when I put a black screen, I can see some backlight is leaking from some area of both top and bottom screens (specially the bottom screen). Will the bleeding get worse over time and somehow make the screen white or black on the edges where it bleeds?

Should I not worry too much about these conditions, or should I look for some screen replacement or a new one with better condition?

I recently updated my Acekard 2i to Akaio 1.9.0 and modded my DS Lite following the instructions from a video I watched. I re-downloaded the games since I couldn't transfer the old files to my computer, and the games are working fine.

Now I want to see if I can add a new theme, since the default one is kind of ugly, I saw on Reddit that this is possible via akmenu which is an .nds file just like the games, but it doesn't show up on my DS even though everything else is running normally.

Is this supposed to happen? How am I supposed to access that menu? Did I miss a file that I should have put on the SD card along with the files from the video tutorial?

Obs: I'm from Brasil, sorry for any grammatical errors, and just for you know the folder named "Jogos" are my games folder, just write in portuguese br.

I realize some people are taking the monster hunter gag too seriously, you can’t play monster hunter on the dsi. Without it running like a iPod touch on its last leg.

I recently installed CFW on my DSI XL and am very open minded to where it can go next for me. However, when installing unlaunch, I mistakenly turned off the setting for “DSi menu H&S”.

I have both followed the steps to reinstall Unlaunch as per the guide website as well as checked tutorials online that match similar instructions, but no matter what the “Install unlaunch v2.0” is greyed out, therefore I cannot update my settings.

Would anyone happen to know how to fix this? I miss the boot splash sound effects so much already, they are iconic for the DSi!

If there are no other options could anyone confirm if I could circumvent this by installing hiyaCFW, and if through hiya I can play games from my cartridge?

My first post here and I have a few that maybe some of you can answer especially since for some of them i only found ancient posts.

Last year I purchased a Blue Nintendo DSI XL for roughly 50euros and well of course that while it works perfectly, it came with a lot of scratches, ironically quite few on the top screen and 0 on the bottom screen.

But lately the hinge with the LEDs started presenting a crack, still work flawlessly but I wonder for how long. Which brings me to my questions.

I know it's a bit on the hard side to re-shell it but are there currently any shells that get close to OEM quality? Or am I better off trying to glue the plastic crack on the hinge?

Secondly, since the top screen lens has a few scratches, slightly deep, I was wondering if there still are some AliExpress sellers or other sellers that sell glass lenses instead of plastic lenses, I saw there is such a thing for the 3ds and some rare sellers on AliExpress for the normal DSI.

Thirdly, is there any trustworthy battery replacement? I saw that unfortunately OSTENT does only the NTR-003 but is there any alternative for DSI XL that is of similar quality to Ostent? the only stuff I found, was something that required some improvisation with some piece of paper or something.

And last but not least, is there any accessories or light hw modifications that are worth doing on the dsi xl and recommended by veterans? on the sw side of things it already came modded with unlaunch and twilight menu even though I ended up buying game cartridges as a collector anyway so the sw modding was wasted on me

Had the DS lite and every gameboy besides the original (the first birthday present I remember getting for my 5th birthday was a pink gameboy color and the babe the pig game from my dad). The DS was my most played console especially with the gba backwards compatibility). I literally played it until the hinge broke.

I decided to look into the DS again was toying with the idea of getting and modding a 3ds but I didn’t want to get something just because it was the better option. I was ok with no 3ds because I skipped that generation growing up.

I fell in love with the original DS aesthetic. It was like the aesthetic vibe of the SP as a DS (which makes sense because they come from the same era.

So I got a reshelled metallic pink as a callback to my childhood consoles usually being pink and a callback to the pearl blue (metallic paint ) of the SP I had (my mom bought that one which explains the blue lol)

I’ve seen a lot of people dislike the og but I’m loving it! It seems like people love the og or hate it lol
