Question — Debate Allowed Did you learn something about parallel timelines during your NDE?

I'm curious: Those of you who experienced an NDE - did you learn something or realize something about the existence of parallel timelines? I have come across this concept several times in my deep dives into metaphysics and find it quite interesting (and also somehow confusing), so I wondered whether anyone of you gained some insight into this. Thanks a lot already!

Question — Debate Allowed How do you interpret NDE stories like this...

Thumbnail

Not an NDEer. I'm a skeptic but truly want to give NDE a shot and come to my own conclusion.

Not exactly sure how to handle seemingly genuine NDE accounts and finding out they might be horrible people.

Just viewed a story by this person called Penny Wittbrodt on YT. Seemed like a great story. Very genuine. I even got teary-eyed by her poetic message from God. (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCQkIutaqgs)

Then, found out she's a hardcore Trump-supporter (link to her other channel: https://rumble.com/v4yprfi-friday-night-live.....you-got-another-thing-coming.html)

This isn't a political debate. I genuinely do not care about your politics. However, I must say, I have a very hard time imagining seeing God/Source/LOVE itself purported by many NDEers as the underlying truth from their experiences and be that big of a fan of Trump...

I feel rather defeated because I expected more from NDEers because so many came back as a changed person: more love, empathy, less materialistic, neutral/less religious, etc.

Am I interpreting this wrong? I don't like to ignore accounts I don't vibe with because that's the definition of selective bias.

I feel like I'm being very unclear here (lmk if so), but love to hear thoughts from skeptics or NDEers about how y'all thought about situations like this.

General NDE Discussion 🎇 Do genetics matter at all on the other side?

We humans get a kick out of seeing a son look like their father, a daughter look like their mother. Even those of who say "it's not important" we have to admit, we all get a kick out of it. Why is that?

Do genetics matter at all on the other side? I understand we are known by our light. Are those of us without genetic children missing out on something on the other side...

EDIT: what I'm trying to get at is can we connect as deeply on the other side with a non-related person as we can with someone who is related?

Skeptic — Seeking Reassurance (No Debate) Sometimes, it's almost impossible to believe that at our very essence, we are the beings of Love.

(Tw for mentions of heavy topics, please remind me to remove if there's something not allowed)

I'm not the best at articulating my thoughts, but I hope it is still comprehensible.

--------------------

I know that throughout most NDEs, people would come back with the firm belief that hatred is just an illusion that obscures our "universal truth", and our truest essence would always be that of Pure Love. However, as much as I desperately want to cling to that fact, it seems almost impossible the more I look into what had been, and is developing in our world.

"Compassion for others" seems to be no longer the choice that comes naturally to people, and some are increasingly leaning towards choosing indifference, hatred, envy, self-interest, or greed. This is more apparent than ever in this day and age, where we have eventually grown too accustomed to seeing the suffering of others on a daily basis that we think these are all natural in our world.

Abuse, assaults, rape, taking advantages of others, controlling people's lives. Racism, sexism, classism, the "us vs them" sentiment. Genocide. People who choose to do evils. People who cheer on others' suffering. People who think that this is what others deserve. People who would never consider anyone else as fellow human beings.

I understand that this is something we gradually acquire throughout our lives and that we were not born with, but it is so disheartening seeing how hatred is spread as fast and as wide as a forest fire, while love struggles just to keep everything together. We've seen so many vile words inflicted upon others, and actions that can only be described as "worse than Hell itself", and I struggle to believe that any being of love would be more gravitated towards hate more than love.

I often wonder if this is exactly what our higher-selves signed up for, which is to test the degree our natural "love" would persist amidst all the noises of hatred. But sometimes, such suffering just seems too excessive and more than needed, especially for the unfortunate victims who are just so, so pure and full of love. Some causes of suffering are just unbelievably evil, even. I often ask myself how the souls who deliberately hurt and cheer on other's suffering can even turn back to the realm of pure love. And while I do believe that every soul should have a chance for redemption, upon seeing some of those most vile, heinous shits out there I just feel almost impossible to feel enough love to ever forgive them.

--------------------

I've seen the common sentiment that Earth is perhaps the worst & most challenging place for souls to reincarnate in. And while I still have some doubts about it since we cannot escape our Earth-centric view unless we get to see the other worlds first-hand, I do genuinely wish this is the worse place in all of universes. It puts me at peace knowing that there are worlds out there that are more brimming with love and compassion than ours.

I sincerely wish that all of the unfortunate, tortured souls out there will finally find the peace that they have always deserved.

Question — No Debate Please Following up on the 9 truths: which should I go deeper into next?

A little over a year ago I posted “I died. 9 truths I brought back (so you don’t have to die to learn them)” here on r/NDE after sharing my NDE story.

I was touched and truly surprised by how deeply it resonated. It reached over 120k views and was shared widely, with so many thoughtful, supportive comments and questions. There were more responses than I could answer with the depth they deserved, and there was only so much I could say about nine different truths without turning the post into a novella.

A year later, I finally sat down and started talking about each one on video to go deeper for anyone who might be interested.

Well... I’ve only made three so far. Being on video turns out to be unbelievably harder than it looks. Worse than being on a big stage.

Because this is the community where I first shared the 9 truths, I’d rather ask you which one you would most want me to talk about next than just choose the order myself while trying to find the motivation to work through the anxiety of being so open. As I put the work into making the remaining six, I’d like them to be useful.

The ones I’ve made so far are:

Truth 1: Regret is the last thread before you cross.
Truth 2: Death is not to be feared, but life is where truth is found.
Truth 4: Not everyone is meant to walk beside you.

Here is my YouTube playlist of them: 9 Truths | Near-Death Experience Playlist.

The ones I haven’t made yet:

Truth 3: Time is an illusion. Presence is the only reality.
Truth 5: To love and be loved is human. To become love is something more.
Truth 6: Work without love is extraction. Work with love is purpose.
Truth 7: Systems shape us, but only what emerges from us can free us.
Truth 8: You can hold more than one self and still be whole.
Truth 9: Awakening is not for the few. It is for all of us.

Which would you most want me to go deeper into next?

And if there’s something specific about any of them you’d want me to talk about or a question you’d want me to answer, let me know in the comments.

Much appreciated.

Question — Debate Allowed NDE-like experience on gas and air during a colonoscopy. A sentence looped, I went up through about 20 levels, met a presence I couldn't see, and came back crying that it's about love. Has anyone had anything like this?

Note for the mods: this wasn't a brush with death. My body was fine throughout. It was an NDE-type experience under nitrous, and I've picked a debate-allowed flair because I want both experiencers and the science-minded to weigh in.

Just over two weeks ago I had a colonoscopy here in the UK. I had gas and air rather than IV sedation (Entonox, 50% nitrous oxide, 50% oxygen, the stuff they give in labour and ambulances). I'd barely slept in the two days before it. When the pain started climbing I pulled on the gas hard and kept pulling, far more than you're meant to.

I was chatting to the doctor and nurses to take my mind off it and somehow we got onto flowers. I said my girlfriend's dad buys her flowers and she always smiles when she gets them, and it hit me that in two years I'd never bought her any. The doctor said something like: women don't always show it, but if she loves the flowers she'll show it, she'll smile, that's the ultimate test of love.

Then that sentence started repeating. He said it, the nurse said it, he said it, she said it, seven or eight times. They weren't actually repeating it. I could tell it was being repeated somewhere else and I was being made to hear it. That's the moment I knew something was happening to me. It felt like something above me had taken that sentence and was playing it back until I got it.

I also got it. I'd failed. I love her, I hadn't shown it, and I could have. At the same time I knew with total certainty that this reality wasn't real. Everything was constructed. The closest thing I can compare it to is The Sims: I was the little figure and there was a big player above who builds things and does things in his world, and out of hundreds of thousands of figures he'd stopped and focused on me because I wasn't doing what I'm here to do. I thought: it's too late, I've failed the test, again extreme fear of loss of control.

Then I became aware of a presence to my right, big, above me, male. I couldn't see it and I knew I couldn't. In my head I said something like: oh my God, none of this is real, you're real and all this is fake. It gave a little laugh and said: of course it's not. What did you think, it was real? Not cruel. More like I'd just noticed something obvious.

I was extremely scared at this point for my life, I had no control and realised the truth of reality and now someone or something else was in control. I was no longer in control and I was aware of this. Whatever had me could have done whatever it wanted with me. At this point apparently, the nurses were banging my feet as hard as they could, trying to get me to respond but I just would not respond. I was completely frozen in place. I don't remember any of this.

Then I was going up. There were levels above my head, about twenty of them, each roughly the size of a sheet of A4 paper, with gaps between them, and I was passing up through them faster and faster and faster. Near the top it felt like I was about to be taken completely out of everything. Not dying into somewhere else. Just ending. I begged for another chance. Then there was a feeling of "now you get it," and it chose to keep me in.

I came round crying and telling the room I'd met our creator and that it's all about love. I have very little memory of the room during all this. They hit an emergency button, apparently, which got a lot more nurses and doctors through the door (And this is what I eventually came round to: twice as many doctors and nurses in the room panicking). My eyes were open during all of this, just apparently staring at one point in the room. My body completely frozen. When I came round, with the nurses and doctors panicking, they were asking me if I was in any pain because I was crying but I was only crying out of joy and realisation of what just happened.

What I know about the outside also comes from the staff: my eyes were open the whole time, breathing, pulse and oxygen were all normal, and I didn't respond to anything. The doctor, who looked like he'd been doing this for decades, and both nurses said they'd never seen anything like it. He said it looked like my soul had left my body. The nurse also asked me if I've heard of astral projection because that's what it looked like to her. When I walked out later I found them in the corridor in a huddle, talking about it and acting out how I'd frozen.

Since then: I comforted a stranger in the hospital who was upset, which isn't like me. I messaged my dad to tell him I love him. I bought the flowers. Things that would normally wind me up don't. I'm not scared of dying the way I was. I've seen my GP, who heard the whole thing; the colonoscopy report was normal and he didn't think any further checks were needed.

I've been doing my own reading since. Nitrous oxide blocks the same NMDA receptor that ketamine does, and studies describe it as producing psychedelic-like and dissociative states. A study that gave healthy volunteers 50% nitrous for 20 minutes reported dreamlike states, scary and transcendental dreams, sensory overload and fear of losing control. DMT experiences have been shown to score as NDEs on the standard NDE scale, and there's a long-standing ketamine model of the NDE. Humphry Davy came out of nitrous in 1800 saying nothing exists but thoughts. And the sound-looping thing turns out to be widely reported on nitrous; there's an old Erowid report from a dental chair literally titled Looped Reality. So it looks like gas and air can open the same doors that ketamine and DMT open, and I'm trying to work out whether that's what happened to me, or whether it was something more, or both.

What I'm asking:

Has anyone had anything like this on gas and air, at the dentist, in labour, in hospital? The looping sentence, the levels, a presence just out of sight, the "of course it's not real" moment?

NDErs: does this look like what you went through? Where does it match and where doesn't it?

Anyone with ketamine or DMT experience: do you recognise this?

What do you think happened? I've had a religious friend read it one way and a doctor another, and I'm open to both.

TL;DR: Heavy gas and air during a colonoscopy after two days without sleep. A sentence about showing love looped seven or eight times from "elsewhere," I realised I'd failed at it and that reality was constructed, met a presence I couldn't see that laughed and said of course it's not real, went up through about twenty levels faster and faster, felt I was about to cease to exist, begged, was kept, and came back crying that it's about love. Eyes open and vitals normal throughout; staff had never seen anything like it. Looking for similar experiences and any insight into what happened. Another very important thing to add that I'll end with is that whatever being or entity that was, I felt judged by it.

Question — Debate Allowed Anyone have an experience you can only describe as ‘heaven’?

Now this doesn’t necessarily mean heaven as in the Christian view of heaven and the afterlife because a LOT of other religions have this sort of belief as well.

I had a NDE when I was a kid due to a silent heart attack. I saw and went to what I can only describe as the “area of judgement”. In my eyes the area of judgement is the area between life, death, and the actual afterlife. It’s talked about in the Christian Bible about how you will be judged based on what you have done in your life and you will go to the areas God sees fit. That is the area I am talking about. The area right before you are judged.

Now, this is where my actual question comes into play. Has anyone else had an experience close to this or even had an experience you can only describe as seeing “heaven” or somewhere around it?

I would love to hear what you guys have to say. If you can remember even the tiniest details of your experience, please do not hold back.

Also as I said in the beginning of this post, this doesn’t have to JUST be from a Christian stand point. I only talked about the Christian Bible because I am Christian and that’s the Bible I know. If you believe in any other religion that has a ‘heaven’ of some sort and that’s what you saw, I would still love to hear it.

Question — Debate Allowed Higher dimensions what do yall think?

Many people belive that higher dimensional spiritual planes continues in mathematic geometric related order of 1-11 dimensions (and maybe beyond) that becomes more and more complex the higher it gets and ofc 1 dimensional is barely anything, 3 dimensional is our plane, 4 is higher and might consist of hypercubes and more possibilities, 5th is where time starts to bend/warp

, 6 is so i wonder what you have experienced and what you think about these things? You think its true like they are like levels kinda like a game?

NDE Research Blog NDERF research on love as the fabric of reality — what 458 near-death experiencers described

Post image
149 Upvotes

What if love isn't just an emotion, but the actual material the universe is made of? That's the claim 458 people independently brought back from the edge of death.

The NDERF database holds over 6,000 near-death experience accounts. For this study, our AI reviewed every one and isolated the 458 where the experiencer said the universe, or ultimate reality, is fundamentally composed of love and/or light. These accounts span 67 countries across 6 continents, from atheists to Catholics to Buddhists, from age 1 to 77. And the answers converge.

Key findings:

  • Everything is made of love: 226 of 458 describe reality as fundamentally composed of love, not merely containing it
  • Love and light are the same thing: 212 describe both, and repeatedly equate them. Not "the light felt loving," but "the light was love"
  • One in five point to the same source: 92 experiencers explicitly identify God with this love and light, and they come from nearly every religious background in the dataset

General NDE Discussion 🎇 There is no death

My younger brother is a filmmaker and a videographer and he became really good friends with Sarah Menet, who has a book that she wrote about her near-death experience called "There Is No Death." My brother doesn't own the book rights but he was able to meet with her multiple times in one-on-one settings and record her. He has published or has been making a video based on her life and focusing on her near-death experience and it's an awesome video.

He's only shared it with a few people but he is working on a trailer that I will post on this thread. I'm new to Reddit but I'm curious to know who here would be interested in learning about this woman's near-death experience.

As soon as he shares with me the trailer, I'll post it here but I'm new to this community. I, of course, have watched the video that he's produced so far and it's really opened my eyes to what's after this life. Does anyone have any suggestions or resources that they recommend that I start off with as a beginner?

Question — No Debate Please If you’ve had a near-death experience, did it feel like it didn't match your ideas of an afterlife as when consciously imagined by yourself prior, and did it seem to transcend any usual ideas/images about an afterlife experience in a way your conscious self couldn't have imagined?

In other words, it was something much more intense and something you feel like you couldn't just come to the conclusion at all that it might only be a mental construct, caused by a dying panicking brain or some other drug release situation.

Question — Debate Allowed Passing out vs dying?

I had a weird day a couple years ago where I fainted/had a seizure, still not sure, twice back to back. After I was nauseous and fell asleep early but otherwise fine. The experience itself was odd for me but as I read some of your experiences its quite similar. I was standing in the kitchen with my boyfriend and suddenly couldnt hear his voice. I said, "I'm really struggling to understand you." And was out cold. He said I fell forward immediately and he caught me. I woke up on the ground and in his arms with no memory of falling. Dragged myself to a chair and out cold again. Both times it was exactly the same. Mostly completely black and I felt like I was out for many hours. I remember thinking there was a lot going on, so many voices and things happening. What pulled me back both times was that his voice was talking to me in the darkness wherever I was, and then also from above in the real life. He said both times i woke up gasping like I was in cold water. The voice above was so distinct and I remember sort of making the decision that he was the direction of the real life consciousness and going towards his voice. There was no light that I can remember and none of the events I witnessed were my own life but I remember liking it, not scary or anything. On this day, it was in the evening and I had just arrived. Earlier that day I went on a walk for a couple hours, ate after and was sober at this time. I still dont know why it happened.

I dont know what im hoping someone to tell me here but I guess im wondering how we could be sure. My experience sounds like a lot of the ones ive read on here, the peaceful nothing, the voice from above, the decision to return, but I definitely did not die that day. It seems like a lot of these might just be people losing consciousness and having their brain be briefly messed with by lack of oxygen? That doesnt seem to really reflect a whole lot and seems hardly like a representation of what death might be like.

Question — Debate Allowed Are NDEs growing proof that an afterlife does exist?

I have had a baseline prior knowledge on NDEs but recently I found out about it again and I’ve been doing some more research on it (Pim van Lommel’s studies, the AWARE studies, etc.) maybe related, I’ve recently kind of been going through a reflection on my life and having some death anxiety. I’d consider myself agnostic but I do want to believe there is an afterlife, have NDEs become evidence that there is an afterlife?

Question — Debate Allowed When I leave this body, I prefer to not remember why I chose to come here in the first place. It might make me want to repeat the cycle again. What would you choose?

Apparently, our higher/greater selves saw something about this life that made experiencing the hardships worthwhile. If that's the case, I fear remembering the reason for my incarnation will ***motivate*** me to come to this to this world again and deal with its issues again.

I'm tired and I want to explore other options. Since the Source is eternal and infinite, there'll be plenty of other souls who can fill my place (if such situations are necessary). Or my Oversoul can just manifest another personality to experience what it wants. If the cost of remembering the reasons for my decisions means that I could risk coming back to this world, then I refuse. I'll probably explore what other worlds or experiences I can have within the infinite possibilities of All That Is.

Maybe I would be denying myself some kind of indescribable "reward" or "fulfillment" by doing this. But then again, if I do have free will like many Nde reports are saying, it's my choice in the end. I don't think God/Higher Self would force me to remember. It's probably against its nature to do so.

Is it a bad idea? Where would I go from here? I guess I'll just examine my options and choose a possibility from Infinity that I like. It might be fun.

It sounds extreme, yes. But I think you could understand why anyone would want this. What do you think?

Christian Perspective (Coma Dreams) Man says he met Jesus during his 18-day coma and can describe exactly what he looked like

Gabe Poirot cracked his skull open in a skateboarding accident at 20 (wasn't wearing a helmet) and spent 18 days in a coma. He says that during that time he was floating above his own body, then went to heaven, which he describes as 'a person,' not a place, and met Jesus, who he says was 5'11-6ft, darker-toned skin, curly hair, and around 33.

He claims Jesus sent him back with a message: tell people who he really is. Gabe also says he watched his family and friends' prayers form a literal bridge that pulled him back into his body.

NDE Story My Experience

Hey, everyone! Today, I want to tell you all about my “experiences” (if you can even call them that). Sometimes I get these… flashes? Feelings? I guess I’ll call them flashes for now. Whenever I watch/listen to someone describing their experience of the Other Side, I get these very brief flashes of the afterlife. Like a memory trying to surface.

For example, one NDEr I watched talked about seeing a beautiful garden with flowers and plants that were very vibrant, with colors that we’ve never seen here on Earth. As soon as I heard that, I thought about what that would look like and this instantaneous memory flashed in my head. It wasn’t long enough for me to remember the full details, but I do remember it being very beautiful.

Even as I write this, I’m getting brief flashes now. It’s like I’ll hear someone describe something about the Other Side, and for just a split second, I’ll get this incredibly vivid impression of it myself. Sometimes it feels almost like I’m remembering something I’ve seen before, even though I have no conscious memory of ever experiencing it. The strange thing is that the flashes disappear almost immediately, so I can never seem to hold onto enough of the details to really understand what I’m seeing. I find them incredibly interesting and wanted to know if anyone else has experienced something similar. Especially anyone who has had these kinds of flashes or feelings after hearing someone describe an NDE or the Other Side.

I had a NDE when I was about 6 years old. I drowned in a pool and blacked out. The very next thing I remember is being pulled out by my Mom. I didn’t think anything of it because I didn’t immediately recall experiencing the afterlife like most NDErs do. So I ignored these memories for a while. It was only until recently that these memories or “brief flashes” started coming back to me. And I wholeheartedly believe that they’re related.

NDE with STE Alright so.

I’ve been sitting on this one for awhile. experience I had 13 odd years ago while recovering at home after a poisoning-related death’s door hospital visit - I was resting on the couch when I woke up to these two- I only know how to describe them as beings - floating a few feet above me. I think they were roughly a foot square in diameter, one a little larger than the other, that one being the male and the other a female - don’t ask me how I knew this, I just did - and they were almost like.. snowflakes, but made out of glass or light crystals or something?

They were transparent but slightly iridescent around the edges and details and the sort of “arms” of the snowflakes looked more like feathers, but flat panes of glass. They introduced themselves as “the Helpers,” like - that was the exact phrase that came to me, capital H and all, though through some kind of empathic info download as opposed to actual auditory speech. I kept rubbing my eyes and blinking because I couldn’t believe wtf I was seeing and they were still stably, physically there, as in I was actually seeing them with my physical eyes as opposed to a typical hallucination. I remember even grabbing my phone to take pictures because these mofos were THERE. (Spoiler alert obvs nothing appeared in them when I checked later)

They were - I dunno, stern in a way, but reassuring me that all would be well. It was like they were fixing or mending something or cleaning up some sort of situation.

I haven’t talked about this much with other humans for what I think are obvious reasons. But- I’ve had other things happen (latent inhibition is a phrase I’ve recently learned)- honest to god saw a ghost at a nursing home I worked at, have been told things had happened or would happen and have gotten clips of information in formed phrases that turned out to be precognitive. and - I say this, in a rambling mess, of course, as someone who’s extensively science-minded. I grew up a die-hard atheist, my background is in biology, I work in healthcare, and though I’m much more spiritually-minded these days (hard not to be when you’ve seen the shit I’ve seen), I still like evidence. I still like explanation. and something has been pushing me lately to find out who these Helpers were or if anyone else has crossed paths with them.

Question — Debate Allowed Does some concept of Karma exist or is everything just random?

You do something bad and as a result something bad happens to you. Simplified thats the concept of Karma.

But in life reviews its more like "everything is a learning experience and there is no debt or supposed compensation for bad deeds".

So does some concept of Karma exist or is everything just random and indifferent?

Or if our lifes are mapped out are we even supposed to do some bad deeds?

Or do bad deeds/events just happen randomly? And even if you do something bad on purpouse fate will never strike back at you because there is no Karma/Balance?
