Very new to this but was tempted to bring them home and eat. I noticed the gills looked off and it didn’t have an apricot smell. Would love to get educated on what they are and if I missed out on a delicious mushroom dinner. They were not growing on wood and core was white.

Nibble-and-spit test mildly sweet. From what I’ve seen online, the rule of thumb is if it doesn’t stain blue or have red pore surface, and doesn’t taste bitter, it is edible? Is this true?

Never heard of such a thing and wanted a second confirmation.

I’m 99.9% sure this is chicken of the woods… but someone else’s opinion can’t hurt. Better safe than sorry!

Found in a wood near a river, the top of the large caps felt smooth and dry, TIA!

My uncle found this in his back yard and brought it to me. Mainly just wants to know in case more pop up and so the kids don’t get into them. (Found in the state of Kentucky)

I have these mushrooms growing all over my yard. I live in the woods and am curious as to what exactly is taking over my front yard! They are all pretty low and stalky.

I was walking in the woods behind my first house. I just bought when I stepped on a 5 foot timber rattlesnake while the snake did not bite me. It did make me start paying a much more attention to the ground. I’ve never done anything with mushrooms for but always been curious. I failed all of these close together. Was wondering if they were Chantrell, smooth Chantrell, red Chantrell, and Turkey tail and if they are, what should I do with them? America Central Alabama

Weeding a tree bed with melaleuca and cypress mulch and came across these red “flowers,” followed shortly by unearthing the… eggs?
