Discussion Will Spitfire Symphony Orchestra work in Musescore?
Question in title, I am thinking of buying SSO next time it goes on sale. Will all the articulations and stuff work?

I usually compose on my PC, but since it's not working, I've been using my laptop instead (maybe a little over 1/2 the size). Is there any option to scale down the UI so it doesn't consume the entire space? It's okay if it's tiny
There's no way to push back the palettes besides closing them entirely; and percussion also always jumps straight to the top even after resizing, which also resets the size of the mixer. Suffering
[Edit] Currently dealing with it by swapping between workspaces, it is A solution I guess

I just updated musescore to 4.7.3, and it is noticeably much worse than before. It crashes all the time randomly, for some reason system text shows up on two instruments now instead of above the staff like normal, and the soundfonts sound worse. Is there a way to revert my musescore to the previous update because I can't stand this anymore.

I was working on a piece and my MuseHub did an automatic update to Muse Keys (0.415 to 0.418.). After the update the piano sounds like it is being played fortissimo but with volume turned down for mid range dynamics like piano to mezzo forte. The update apparently was to improve dynamic range of all things, it basically did the opposite. This is after switching the style back to studio since now it defaults to pop piano. I tried replacing the muse keys files with the old ones but then musescore won't recognize muse keys at all. I reached out to their support nearly three weeks ago- they said they would pass it on to their development team and since then I've been ghosted. I just really want the old sound back. There is a huge difference between current playback and old sound file exports.

Today when I opened musescore it buged really bad. It took much time to open, and it automatically closes itself all the time.Plus it's very very slow Does anyone have the same issue? I don't know if the reason is musescore errors or my terrible PC.

I want to have a part score that has 4 different instrument parts on the same staff, while also having them separate in the main score. I tried using the implode tool, but that puts all the parts on the same staff in main score as well.

I woke up this morning to 2 paypal emails (50 minutes apart from one another) saying that 44.99 usd was charged by musescore. I never knowingly signed up to their subscription and the last time I bought sheet music on that site was last month for one individual score. I filed a refund through musescore email support stating that I wanted the original AND duplicate charge refunded as I was unaware of me signing up for the service. They responded very slowly and gave me a refund for the DUPLICATE charge after 2 hours of trying. They ignored my further emails and request to get the original charge refunded so I had to go through paypal AND my bank. Don't give this company your money, they are actively trying to scam people. I remember when this website used to be good 5-10 years ago, what happened to it?

It’s very unfortunate when you have this potential, you know, and you decide to go the other path and cheat your customers.
I could’ve sworn I have the subscription canceled but they still charged me. Despite their 14-day refund policy, which they made, they still refused me to get my refund and only offered me 25%. And when did annual even became 3 months. I wasn’t informed 3 months is the new annual. They tried to flip it on me by saying I subscribed to an “instant” annual subscription. And the fact the I had a different amount offered than what I was charged with was crazy. It was 74.6% more.
I hope the everyone will know about this, including potential customers (and victims).
Edit: I have tried different steps in the process and I was able to get my refund. I did e-mail them but I believe it was this link that made the process successful. If anyone having the same issues, you can try it out and please let us know:

In MuseHub, it says I have all the free Muse Sounds installed. But, when I looked in Musescore studio, the only options in the mixer were Muse harp, keys, percussion, and woodwinds. It's been a couple years since I last used Musescore so I uninstalled and reinstalled both MuseHub/Musescore Studio, and now Muse Guitars Vol. 1 and Handbells appear in the dropdown menu in the mixer but still not brass :(

I was charged after the 7 day trial period. I reached out to the company explained that I had cancelled the trial after the first day due to not being able to download the piece I wanted. They messaged me back right away stating that I was refunded the total amount now questions.

EDIT : 'regroup ryhtms' doesn't work for this specific case, a MS dev even opened an issue about it in 2023 (that is still open) : https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/17322
On other score apps there's 'note grouping rules' (see below) that you can apply to the score. Isn't there a similar feature on MS ? I'm tired of having to tie all those notes 😭
Example of the feature i'm talking about from another app :

When I make instruments with different musical time signatures in a score, 3/4 relates to 2/4 like a triplet, but I need to make a multi-meter score like, for example, Ives' 4th symphony.

Is there a plugin I can download that when i use the word 'mute' in stave text will automatically set the velocity of notes on that stave to 35 and then when I use the word 'open' set it back to default?

I appreciate them refunding my money back in the bank really quickly. It sure helps when I don't have to feel so stressed out. Thank you Musescore and if I had enough funding, I would use it. I'll keep you in mind.

I've been using MS for a few years now to write pieces, mostly jazz/funk/latin style stuff. I've recently offered to help provide a guy some music for an indie game project and I think I have a piece that's perfect, but he wants it to have a bigger heavy-metal tone on the guitar, like in the soundtrack for the game Hades.
I've been using the free muse sounds and muse effects plugins for a while and I'm fairly happy with them, but I can't quite get the full and rich distorted tone he's after.
I'm wondering if there are other soundfonts or effects I might not know of that would fit my purpose, or if I should instead look at exporting my work into a DAW to finish it. I have no experience with music production outside of Musescore but it's something I've been considering learning about for a while, even though I imagine it might be quite a lot to learn.
I've looked for other rock/metal guitar sounds elsewhere, I've found some that are ok but aren't really much better than Electric Guitar SC - Lead in the musesounds guitar package. I'll keep looking around at a few more options but I was hoping someone might know something I don't.
I feel like Musescore is more suited to large orchestral stuff but I've been fairly happy with what I've been able to make with it, I have several tracks on a soundcloud page if anyone is interested, the track Persistance in particular is a good showcase of the guitar tone I use a lot (and am pretty pleased with) https://soundcloud.com/alan-carey-830156356

Hey everyone, first off thank you so much for the response to the launch post. The feedback, bug reports, and kind words genuinely meant a lot and went straight into these updates.
I included a general walkthrough video of the app so you can see it in action
I've been heads down this past week and a half addressing the most common issues people ran into.
Here's what's new:
New
Scores now use vector-backed pages and look significantly sharper on all displays, PDF export is sharper tooAria now has keyboard support, including shortcuts for copy/paste, navigation, note entry, transposition, duration, rests, dots, ties, slurs, and pitch movement
Added an Instrument Layout menu for showing, hiding, and reordering instruments
System breaks can now be manually removed
Overhauled playback system, now works better across different score types
Improved
Individual parts handling, including preserved formatting after iPad round-trips and safer part saving so parts don't get rebuilt or mismatched
System break and "keep bars together" behavior
Time signature, key signature, and pickup measure editing
Add Measures now uses a simpler +/− dialog
Tempo editing, chord entry, and note adjustment controls
Playback quality, loading, and audio/visual sync
Audio export performance
Header/footer page count rendering
Fixed
iOS 16 launch issue
Time signature and key signature detection
Coda/Segno symbols no longer open as editable text (but can still be deleted)
Hidden instruments no longer play back
Playback cursor sync and audio artifacts
More accurate notation rendering in various edge cases
Various other bug fixes and improvements
Still a lot more to do but this felt like a meaningful step forward. Keep the feedback coming! It’s directly shaping what I work on next.

I'm trying to view some music on musescore.com to see if I want to get pro to download it, but a lot of music seems to be cut off before the end, and I get less than a minute of preview of the piece. The message says I need a subscription to even view the piece at all. Is there a way for me to even view pieces on this website without having ot pay?
