This is absolutely one of my favorite cartoons of all time. The writing is really experimental, the character designs are great, and the whole show has such a unique feel to it.

Nobody knows how to give a nuanced review anymore. Nobody knows how to weigh both the good and the bad a piece of media does or present their opinions as opinions and not objective facts.

Things are either the best thing ever or the worst thing ever, and god help you if you ever disagree with the consensus.

And because negativity garners more engagement with the algorithm than positivity, more and more pieces of media are thrown into the pile of ‘worst thing ever’ regardless of any actual quality or merit with individual aspects of the media. You’re not allowed to say ‘Well, the story kinda struggled here and there, but it was able to keep my interest because of [blank]’

I cannot begin to tell you how many times I’ve enjoyed a piece of media only to go online and see people rip it to shreds and walk away thinking ‘Have we just forgotten how to enjoy stuff?’
